Arcade Lifestyle / Building a dedicated games room
« on: March 04, 2008, 06:11:56 AM »
Hi all,

Unsure if this is in the right forum (if not please move)

I am looking at building a dedicated games room at our new property (well starting in the next few months)

At this stage I am thinking of a 3 car garage (well ideas of sheds below)

The main thing I need to know is power, I see a lot of you guys mention phase three power, so more info on this (for a games room) would be good.
I'll have about 20 to 25 dedicated games, pool table, Pinballs, bar, projector for sports events and other items (fridge, air-con and so on)
Some of the games are hydraulic (Deluxe Out Run) Also, as I live in OZ and can't find some of the games I love I'll be building dedicated cabs but running MAME to emulate it (Juno First and others)

So fare here is what's going to be in there:

Arcade Cabs:

Dragon's Lair
Space Ace (my favourite)
Cliff Hanger (via Daphne)
Dragon's Lair II
Cobra Command (Via Daphne)
Interstellar Laser Fantasy
Gauntlet
Gauntlet II
Rolling Thunder
Discs of Tron: Environmental
Marble Madness
Peter Pack Rat
Juno First (mame)
Kung-Fu Master (no cab)
Bezerk (mame) (no cab)
Wardner (Pyros) (mame)
Super Sprint
Track & Field (mame)
Space Harrier
Shinobi (have cab, no board, might mame it)
Defender (no cab, have plans)
Galaga (no cab, have plans)
Out Run
Moon Patrol (no cab, have plans)
Mr. Do! (no cab)
Moonwalker (no cab)

Twister (pinball)
High Speed II (Pinball)
Future Spa (Pinball)
The Hulk (Pinball)

Pool Table
Air Hockey (perhaps for the kids ?)

Bar

Projector or large LCD/Plasma

Pepsi Vending machine

Lounges

That's it (and I don't have some of the items yet (mainly cabinets, pepsi machine and pool table)

Also, going on the size, I might want to add some games later on too.

Here are some designs:

I might need a custom size (will inspect the size of them soon)

Anyway let me know what you guys think (and I'll keep you updated)

And let me know about the power  :)

Dragon's Lair / Space Ace / Space Ace/Dragon's Lair HD Cabinet
« on: February 21, 2008, 09:02:45 AM »
Hi all,

With the release of both Dragon's Lair and Space Ace on Blue-ray/HD-DVD it got me thinking of a dedicated cabinet for them (Space Ace HD sounds good to me)

Thing is I need ideas for a cabinet, I know there are some 'bright' people here that might be able to help out

I'm thinking of a 24" LCD screen (as I am about to upgrade my 24" Dell to the 30" so I'll use that) I'd like a really kick ass design too. I'd also like help with some artwork. but I just want to get a design first.

I'm going to have a go and I'll post up some designs soon, but if anyone has some ideas would be great.

At the end I'll be happy to provide all plans, templates and artwork for free for anyone wanting to make one the same.

Thanks

Steve

Dragon's Lair / Space Ace / Dragon's lair cartoons??
« on: May 24, 2006, 12:08:12 AM »
No probs, if I can be of ANY help let me know.

I was going to run the footage via a TBC (Time Base Corrector) and colour correct them if needed (as NTSC can be washed out at times) And have them available for download and on DVD. So like I said, let me know if I can help out in anyway  :)

As for the link on my site, no probs at all  :P  Great site and I LOVE the 'Road Trips' that's just a great attraction to the site.Anyway, I'm looking forward to seeing the cartoons, I never got to see Space Ace but I did see a few Dragon's Lair ones (What would you do?)

Hey guys,

I'm a video editor by profession and I'd like to offer my services  :D
I could also make them PAL or keep them NTSC and if you supply material I could add in easter eggs and special features on the DVD.

All I'm after are copies of the episodes  8)

Unsure if you know, but I am the one that finished off MY version of Cliff Hanger
See here: http://www.cliffrestored.zoomshare.com/0.html

Let me know as I am happy to help out in anyway  :D

I am in Melbourne  :D

I am a HUGE Space Ace fan and I have built my own cab (and it runs Daphne) Was quite easy to do too.

If I had plans I could build it.

I have also just finished my version of Cliff Hanger: Restored Edition made from the 2 Mamo DVD's and it plays perfect in Daphne.

I have a heap of photo's of my Space Ace cab if you want me to send them ?
