Can you confirm which crimp connector you used, and where did you get the 50 pin plastic housing from?

Thanks, Mart.

I did a full on SBO repair a while back, link here https://www.dragonslairfans.com/smfor/index.php?topic=6213.0  I think you need to check the reset line (Pin 40 of the CPU). I expect it is pulsing high & low constantly, meaning the game code cannot run properly as you are experiencing, I should be low at power on and then stay high. Check your clock signal is actually getting into the CPU on pin 37. Then you need to look at the Address & Data bus line coming from the CPU. Check the signal are passing through those IC's A2,B2,C2 for Address Bus and E3 & E4 for the Data bus.

I've had IC failures in all area's mentioned, so at a minimum you will need to hunt signals down with a logic probe.

Good luck, keep us updated.

Cheers, Mart.

'Business' Area : Buy/Sell/Trade / WTB: G05-805 HV Board
« on: November 14, 2015, 03:48:03 PM »
Hi guys,

I'm fixing an Asteroids cocktail for a friend and I'm 99% sure I have a shorted LOTP on a G05 HV board. I have spent a fair bit of time working on the monitor and have proven all the discrete logic & transistors are OK, I had a few faulty components on the way that have been replaced, but from my testing is can now only suspect the LOPT.

If anyone can help with a spare board that would be great, I don't mind if it is faulty, I would really like to get the game working again soon.

Thanks, Mart.  :)

Very well played. Great restoration.

Not surprised it took a year to complete, lots of effort has gone into fixing that up!

Hard luck! Are all voltages correct?

Any errors in test mode?

My arcade garage below, taken last week. The Asteroids cocktail is not mine I'm just repairing it for someone local to me. There's a Centipede Cabaret hiding behind the Hang-On.

I think I posted this video a while back, skip to the middle when it all gets coined up if you don't watch it all.  ;D

Bad terminology on my behalf, should have said potentiometer's. 'Variable Resistors' (VR) only have two legs, which have a changeable overall resistance, pots have three legs and the 'wiper' leg is what makes the resistance different between wiper and an outer leg.

Blue square blocks with cross adjusters in the photo below (my Tempest board). If yours are original they may be black and circular.

I created a 'similar' issue on a tempest board after switching from viewing the game on a scope to putting it back on with a 6100. Monitor. One of the 'centering' VR's on the board was turned to far one way that the monitor couldn't cope and the image folded over and was squashed to one side. I'd have a quick check of those to rule it out.

I watched your you tube video today on the 9100A.  :)

Nice demo.

Good luck with your signature list, hopefully any other 9100 users will contribute.

You can get a SBO board running on a very simple test rig with a 12vDC supply and a video cable. No modding of the pcb needed. Makes it easier for testing when you're not hanging out the back of a cab.

"My test rig is crude, but for getting the Game logic on the board works fine. The way I read the schematics led me to believe what I'm doing was OK. The LM323 regulators are tolerant to this input voltage and I've had perfect 5.0x DC reading all over the IC's.

Your 12Vdc will need to be beefy, my Jamma Rigs 12Vdc was not man enough to supply enough current to make the board run, I went for an open frame PSU I had spare that was rated at 4amps and worked fine.

The other AC voltages I left off they are for the Audio amplification, I left them alone and tested sound when the game was back in the cab.

See image below of my wiring. "

Yes, that site is a good resource. I found it whilst trawling the web for info when I needed to fix my board.

Surprisingly (to me) there seems to be little repair info on SBO boards of the web/forums. I made a post in the tech forum a while back about my board.

Good luck with it, make a thread with it. Would be nice to follow along another SBO repair, i'll help out if I can  :)

Going by this website http://searle.hostei.com/grant/SuperBreakout/faults/index.html It's most likely a RAM fault.
