Arcade Lifestyle / <3 my MK2 cab [new cab working yeah!!]
« on: November 12, 2012, 08:16:30 PM »
I want to dedicate this topic to my MK2 cab. It is my 1st and only cab ATM.

I never had the space at home, but this year my girl and I bought a house with a pretty large attic. This would become my hobby room. While our house was being build, I found a MK2 cab on Marktplaats, for a really good price. Fortunatelly, my friend has a big house so we drove to the seller with his van.

And there it was:

I was so thrilled, I actually lost the 1st game I played against the seller playing with Baraka (that never happens :o). Now we had to move it, but it is huge and very heavy. I didn't take pictures at this point :-[, but we got it to my friends house at the end. This was in January, my house wasn't ready untill the end of April.

Because the cab is so big and the fact it needed to go up 2 stairs, I decided to hire o professional moving firm. A guy came looking at the cab and my stairs and his conclusion was that it would fit. He didn't measure anything, but he was convinced it would fit. But.....

it didn“t fit >:( >:( >:(

The movers returned the cab to my friends house and we needed to take it apart.

In the meanwhile, I had the idea to find someone who could put a piece on my wall. Together we came up with this

A couple of weeks ago, my friend and I finally had enough guts to take it apart

We found a couple of these inside  ;D

love it

And we put it back togheter ::)

It works !!! (no that's not me in the picture)

Now I'm cleaning it up

The following needs to be done:

- T molding
- Joystick
- new white buttons and one blue button (burnmarks)
- new things to hold marquee and glass (don't know the name)
- put some black paint on the edges on the back side
- maybe new plexiglass on the control panel (burnmarks)
- replace the locks
- fix the left coin input

i will put more pictures here of the process, this is it for now

Technical Area / [FIXED] MK2 issue
« on: November 07, 2012, 09:29:29 PM »
I have an issue with my MK2 cab, hopefully someone can help me out with it.

When I start my system, sometimes 2 roms are bad (red), the U10 and U11. The game plays normally, untill I get to Kintaro. The image gets all messed up.

When this 1st happened, I've adjusted my power supply unit and the issue was gone. After moving my cab to work on the coin input (it runs on good old Dutch guilders, how cool is that 8)) and putting it back in place, the issue returned

Can it be my PSU is getting bad? I'm a little scared to keep adjusting the voltage in the blind., but I'm not sure how to check the voltage on the PSU

Please help me out here :)

All the rest / Hi all, a new member from Holland
« on: November 04, 2012, 05:15:52 PM »
Hello, my name is Patrick and ever since I bought a MK2 cab earlier this year and moved into a new home with more space, I've got the arcade fever. I am fooling around with MAME for some time, but the real thing is much more fun.

I recently joined the Jamma+ forum and they told me about this one, because it has a lot of Dutch members.

As a newbie, I 've got some goals and some dreams for this hobby, the 1st thing are:

- get a Jamma cab
- get myselfs a collection of PCBs to play in this cab
- learn how to solder things like fingerboards so I can play non Jamma boards in it

I dream about having my very own Donkey Kong cab one day and about repairing boards myself. I dream about a lot of stuff, and that's a good thing.... I like to dream

Unfortunately, I don't have unlimted cash for my hobby..... but I really look forward to get involved in the Arcade scene and this community.

Greetings from Holland  :)

Patrick
