Oh boy... I like this board. Thank you again for the warm welcome in the Galaga 88-PCB-Thread.

One of my childhoods greatest memories is playing Track & Field (Hyper Olympics) in the local pub.
Iīd love to have one of those machines. Maybe somebody has a spare one hidden in the basement. Wink

Thank you for listening!
Stefan

There is a Hypersports becoming available in the US most probably. Some pics. Don't know price yet.

i was a bit more in the first one... but hypersports would do fine, too. and "oh my god".... those machines are drop dead beautiful. xevious, pooyan.... damn. sometimes the cabs are nicer than the games they were playing. Smiley

donīt worry about the shipping. thatīs the smallest problem. Wink
i guess it would still be an amazing prize compared to what it would cost me over here.

Ok, it is your choice. Happy gaming. Smiley

it is also the choice of my wife.
if it was up to me our appartmend would be packed with dedicated cabs. no bed, no kitchen. just games and pizza service. Wink

IMHO replacing the monitor is less work than hooking up all the converters..

i doubt that. Smiley have to find one that fits first.
but donīt worry guys... i think i might buy the real cab, too.

....  my problem now ist how to connect ist to vga. anybody with a very simple solution for an absolute beginner? Smiley

first, welcome here.

second, there is a simle answer, you canīt  Shocked

Galagaī88 is a 15K lowres game, it doesnīt output VGA signals.

The only solution to use it on a VGA monitor is to hook up additional devices, like a cga2vga scaler and a sync splitter. And of course a SLG3000 for the scanlines. You can check out Bencao74īs website for more info about that.

But please donīt use thta equioment, you donīt really want to use a VGA monitor. The game is intended to use with a 15K monitor, so why not hook up one of those?

But to be honest, I am a bit amazed that you thought that you could hook up a Galaga ī88 PCB directly to a VGA monitor! Obviously you didnīt do a lot of research on forehand.

i did no research at all when i bought the pcb but of course I knew that the galaga 88 has no vga-out. i just did not think about it when i found it on ebay and bought it. actually I did send the guy a price I was willing to pay.... and he accepted one minute later. so... there was my galaga 88 pcb. Cheesy

the reason for me to connect it to vga is simple: i have no other choice at the moment because i have a coctail cab (not a sitdown as mentioned before). i bought this cab with a 60in1 two years ago because I liked its design. it did fit in our appartment and it was a compromise to my wife. she liked it too cause it was a piece of furniture for us. unfortunately it came with a vga-monitor.

i could of course put a real 15k monitor in it... but thatīs something I might to in the future. at the moment I donīt have the time for that. I just want to play that game again with a beer next to me in my livingroom. Smiley

so I guess I will go with this little box and the scanline-generator. that will do for me. if i ever have the chance to get my hands on dedicated cabs for my own real arcade i can assure you that I will only go for the real thing. Wink

I found my board yesterday. Not as cheap as the 199-one... but just about 200 with shipping from the states included. Smiley

big thanks to everybody who wants to help me. my problem now ist how to connect ist to vga. anybody with a very simple solution for an absolute beginner? Smiley

Great you got the game, any chance you will show a photo or 2 of your setup? - and welcome here BTW!

Cheers
Michael Trier (yep, thats my name  Cool )

of course I will, Michael. I have to put it in my sitdown cab. it used to run a 60in1 till now... and that leads me to aproblem I did not think about so far... the 60in1 has vga and audio-out. the galaga 88 does not have those features. i guess i will take the sound from the jamma harness... but what about the vga output? a total newbie-question for sure... but is there an easy solution to my problem? Smiley

and by the way... what a coinsidence with your last name. Smiley

Hello everybody!

First Iīd like to introduce myself. My name is Stefan, 41 years old.... male! Wink
I run a videogamestore in my hometown Trier/Germany for 13 years now and I am a big fan of this board although I kept silent for most of the months and years here.

I was hoping to find a Galaga 88 Jamma-Board... but as I found out lately those little babies are hard to get.
Thatīs why I came here today. Maybe someone here has an idea how to get one.

Iīd be very thankful for any help i can get.

Greetings from Trier
Stefan
