Dragon's Lair / Space Ace / Re: 20th Anniversary Dragon's Lair Ultracade

There was a brief discussion a few years back on KLOV (US arcade forum) about this.  Jeff Kinder of the Dragon's Lair Project (www.dragons-lair-project.com) said this in the discussion thread:  "It's just ok. When they were programming this game, we tried to steer them in the right direction to make the game as close to original as possible, but it falls short, IMO. I personally like the original much better."  What issues he had specifically, he didn't say.  Someone was trying to sell one then for $1000 US, but not sure if it sold for that or not.

I would also try posting this in the "Dragon's Lair / Space Ace" subforum instead of here in B/S/T.  Might get better feedback there.

There's one for sale on US ebay right now (not mine), but international shipping isn't listed.  Worth asking him if he would ship though if you're interested.

How come none of you guys mentioned this cabinet was made of gold?   ;D

Still interested in finding parts, particularly the control panel, if someone happens to know of any available.

Well, I definitely lean towards keeping cabs complete unless they are some generic JAMMA cabinet.  I spoke with Barry and Chris via PM yesterday, and though they said I could have the cab (or parts in this case), we agreed instead to give it to someone Chris had mentioned it to in Belgium who will be restoring it with a monitor and boardset.

When I first spoke to Level42 about this, I mentioned that ideally I would find a waterdamaged cabinet that I could take the parts from guilt-free.  There has to be one in that old warehouse full of parts, right?   ;D

It's sad (or wrong?) I know, but I'm rooting for that cab on Marktplaats to have some serious issues!

Edit: Another one just popped up and it's located in my town: http://verkopers.marktplaats.nl/6005170

I'm having a hard time translating that auction page. When does the auction end and is it in working condition?

Thanks everyone.  PM sent to Barry. I love a hobby where crazy requests like this are taken seriously.   ;D

Now, who is going to volunteer to take the cab apart and take measurements?   ;)

right, that's the one that originally came from me. still at chris' place if i'm not mistaken!!!

That is just torture seeing that!  Will it fit in a FedEx box ;D.  Must resist the urge to ask to part out a complete cab like that.

Thanks for starting this thread for me. My registration here just got approved.  I love this cabinet but it's been damn near impossible trying to track one down here in the states, so I am considering building one from scratch. Before I do that, I want to see if I can track down the cabinet hardware first.  Ideally there is a completely trashed cabinet somewhere that would make a nice donor for this project.
