I want to buy a Taito Space Invaders control panel. Either for SI1 or SI2 as long as it is Taito and has the joystick hole. I do not need it populated - although I would be interested in a populated CP too.

I will be at Eurocade, so it would be ace if you can bring it there!  :spaceace: :spaceace: :spaceace:

'Business' Area : Buy/Sell/Trade / WTB: Mario Bros.
« on: September 14, 2015, 03:27:13 PM »
Sometimes you just fall in love without understanding why. It might not be with the most beautiful or coolest girl on the block, but she has that certain je ne sais quoi that really gets to you and makes you say stupid things, drool and feel light headed.

Well...

At Eurocade this year I came to the realisation that I really need a Mario Bros. cab - not necessarily a widebody. If you have one that you consider selling within the end of the year and you are willing to make it sort of a long term project doing so while I figure out how to get it to Norway, I'm your man. I promise it will go to a good home. <3

'Business' Area : Buy/Sell/Trade / WTB Pole Position steering wheel
« on: August 18, 2015, 02:10:28 PM »
Hi,
I would like to buy a Pole Position steering wheel in good shape. Just the wheel itself, as I have the rest. Pickup on Eurocade possible.

I have a Stratovox cab that somebody has JAMMAtized. I also have the original 2x18 pins PCB and as much as I would like to have it restored to its original state, I am also willing to settle for the easier option of just having an adapter for the wiring that's currently there.

So:
I am looking for a Stratovox pcb to JAMMA adapter OR a complete harness for Stratovox.

Hi,
I've found an empty Stratovox cab which I would like to restore to its former glory. I am after the following parts: pcb, bezel, cp, marquee.

« on: September 03, 2013, 10:41:13 AM »
Hi fellows,

I'm going to Eurocade, and for me this is a rare opportunity to pick up some arcade stuff _without_ doubling my expenses with killer shipping to Norway and taxes and handling fees and so on and so forth. So here is a list of stuff I'm after. If you have any of this and you are going to Eurocade, please drop me a note. :)

GAMES (no bootlegs, must work):
Wonderboy
Magic Sword
Slap Fight
Donkey Kong (2 layer!)
Juno First
Toaplan shooters

HARDWARE
Robotron 4" Wico joystick shafts
Marble Madness kit (game pcb and Control panel)
Pole Position II populated control panel (Euro version)
Blaster 49-way joystick for my mate Slowcade
Space Invaders (Taito) control panel
Space Invaders II (Taito) control panel
Space Invaders II (Taito) bezel
Space Invaders (Taito) backlit moon

All the rest / Arcade, pinball and/or retro games in Berlin?
« on: July 11, 2013, 01:34:09 PM »
I'm going to Berlin this weekend, and I was wondering if you guys have any suggestions about any arcade or retro game related activities or shops there? I'm aware of the Computerspielemuseum, but other than that I haven't managed to find anything about any shops or arcades. Surely there must be something in a city that big? Any advice is much appreciated. :)

I now have a nice Atari System 1 cabinet with a populated Indy cp and marquee, but it is totally empty! Can you guys help me out?
I'm going to Eurocade this year if a potential seller can't be bothered to ship it.
Cheers,
Arch

'Business' Area : Buy/Sell/Trade / WTB Taito Space Invaders CP
« on: June 10, 2013, 01:06:18 PM »
Hi,
I'm after a Taito Space Invaders CP, preferably populated, but everything of interest - both for SI I and SI II.
I'm going to Eurocade this year, so that might make things easier pickupwise.
Yay!

Highscore! I just have to share my total joy with you guys! Yesterday a very nice Swede (dimmuborgir here on the forum) came along and dropped off Stargate and Centipede Cabaret!  :)

Both cabs are fully working and in good nick. The Centipede Cabaret has some monitor issues with the colour balance and it needs a recap, but that will be sorted out. The player-buttons are not original, and I really want to have the cone button leds in there. If anybody here know where I can find some, be it original or repro, please give me a shout. Other than that there is a small tear in the inner cardboard bezel, but that's it.

The Stargate is also quite fresh. There are some dents to the side art, but most of what you can see in the picture is dirt that will come off with a magic eraser. I will do a colour match and touch up some spots as well. No other issues as far as I can tell. The cp is very fresh, apart from the two holes that I really can't figure out why somebody has drilled.

I wonder a bit about the buttons and the joystick though. Most of the Stargates I have seen on the web has a setup of green, red and white buttons and a red balltop on the stick. Can this be some sort of Euro setup, or are they all later replacements?

Overall not a lot of work to be done on these except for playing them until my fingers bleed. Today I also got the confirmation from the Oslo Pinheads pinball club that they approve me as a member, so now I have a place to put these babies. It all comes together so nicely, I expect to slip on the pavement and break a leg today. Something's gotta give you know.

But right now I'm just very happy. Dreams can come true!   ;D

Deep breath...

Some of you might have noticed that I've been asking for pictures of Zaccaria Star Splash art recently. Well, there is a reason for this. Some months ago I was at a meeting in the "Secret Norwegian Arcade Club". We are four guys only in Oslo who are into arcade machines, and I am the only oddball who prefer woodies to candies. At one point one of the candycabbers showed me a dark picture of his woody cab that he had stored in an old barn. When I saw the Zacc art I got very enthusiastic, so he told me that I could have it for free if I could arrange the pickup. This first and only picture was not very revealing to say the least, and it was very hard to tell the state of the cab, but I noticed that the bezel and the marquee were missing, and consequently I started the quest for art here on DLF.

Here is the first picture I saw:

Yesterday I went to pick up the cab at a barn outside Oslo. And, surprise surprise... it is a wreck.

I suspected as much, but I hadn't thought it to be this bad. The main issues are as follows. The sides are scratched badly with names and your regular AC/DC-logos, the wood is chipped, it has several holes, the t-molding slots have been filled with glue and painted over, the control panel is flaking badly underneath and the plexi is melted, bent and stained from cigarette burns. The inner bezel (for lack of a better term), the bezel, the marquee and the back door are all missing. I need some good t-molding too. I have never seen a Zacc in the flesh before, so there might be other bits missing as well.

We all know that a thread like this is not worth a damn without pictures, so see for yourself:

There are some upsides though. The guts aren't all bad. The monitor, a Hantarex 900, is crisp and clear with no burn. It needs a recap but that's about it. Marquee light works, the coin door lights work and the buttons and the joystick are ok.

Meanwhile, somewhere in Germany several wheels are already set in motion. Deals have been made, money have been changing hands, and the DLF community represented by Luigi, Bela, Lachek and others have shown their true colours as the most helpful and friendly guys out there.  :)

With this much community involvement alredy, and because I'd hate to see this get chucked, I feel I need to go through with this. So, this is The great Norwegian Zaccaria Star Splash restoration project! Welcome!  ;D

What I'm thinking is that I have to go deep on this one, probably to the point of disassembling it, repairing the wood and making new side art, a new cp, and a new inner bezel. This will be a long and painstaking project, but hopefully, with the help and backing of the community, I will get there in the end.

So, what do you think? Doable? Answer: Yes! Where should I start? Answer: Haven't got the slightest idea! This is the first time I plunge this deep into a restoration, so any input is welcome.  :)

Cheers,
Håkon

All the rest / Importing a cab from abroad. Good/bad idea?
« on: March 20, 2012, 12:54:24 PM »
So the situation is this: I've decided to part with my thrusted MAME cab. Here in Arcade Wasteland aka Norway I'm likely to get a good price for it, which again enables me to look abroad for a new dedicated one including shipping - most likely from the US. I would really appreciate to hear your thoughs on this subject.

- Have any of you had cabs shipped like this? If so, what did you get?
- What were your experiences? Would you do it again?
- Any pointers as to how to approach courier services and sellers?
- Which cabs/games would you consider to be worth all the work that goes into this?
- Any pointers along the way?

Cheers,
Håkon

Hi guys. I am about to get my hands on a Zaccaria Star Splash, but unfortunately it misses both the bezel and the marquee - and the cp could have been in better shape as well.

I have decided that I will vectorize the artwork for it to have it reprinted, but at the moment I have nothing to work from. None of the pictures online are good enough.

So, if anyone out there has a Star Splash, would you be so kind as to make a good top down photo or a scan of the mentioned artwork for me? After finishing the artwork I will of course make it available to everyone here, and you will have both my unending gratitude and love and a vectorization favour from me as well.

Oh, and _should_ anyone out there have the above mentioned for sale, that is of course very interesting as well.

Cheers,
Håkon/Arch
