Technical Area / Re: 110 to 220V
« on: January 04, 2017, 01:43:37 PM »
Hey,

I don't think there is a similar post, where we could indicate what cabs can be easily converted from 110 to 220V after import.
I start working on mines, does anyone if any of this can be converted or if an external power transformer is compulsory :

- TRON
- Donkey Kong
- Escape from Planet of Robot Monster
- Star Wars

If you want, you can indicate below if you already made some power transformer conversion and I will try to sum up everything on this first post.

Thanks,
Valentin

Download the schematics for each one of these games and check the main wiring diagram and the power supply section.
Be careful because even if there is an option to do it sometimes operators did some hacking and some elements could be directly attached to the mains input, so it's better to double check your cabinet to see if it's still original or has been adapted.

Start testing the laserdisc player alone, does it play the disc?

If the optical pickup doesn't achieve focus, the motor will not be started (disc will not spin). Try to clean the lenses. But be careful: there is an angled mirror down into the optical block that needs to be cleaned as well and it is not an easy task.

I'm afraid a ROM swap won't fix the problem you're having now. It is needed to correctly play the game using a Software Corner reprinted disc, but the game should boot anyway as it is now.
There is something wrong there, either in the LDP baud rate settings or cables or game PCB.
Good luck!

I've sent to Bruno images of the DL/SA diskettes for Amiga and PC and he never posted them. Once I see them online, I can think of sending something else  :)
I think he's just too busy with other stuff.

Hi!
You're welcome. Yes, I still have it. And it's still for sale if someone wants it.
But be careful, Mad Dog is still in town and looking after you ;)

The game uses a standard arcade 15 kHz monitor. The output of the Amiga genlock is a composite NTSC video signal that is usually sent to a NTSC to RGB video board that has the usual 5 wire output to the arcade monitor (R, G, B, GND and SYNC). Well, this unless you have the big screen 46" version of the games.

These are all Pioneer NTSC discs, from the 1983 american version of the game.
