Arcade Lifestyle / TRON !!! : Road trip + Restoration WIP
« on: April 08, 2005, 09:15:19 AM »
7th april 2005 :

It's start like my previous road trip ( Quest for Gauntlet Legends    ), with my personal 'loader man' called Charlyx and his famous 'Citroen Berligot' car :

Thanks to him for beeing so nice and quick on this story

So we start to drive for a HUGE road trip ( about 10 km  to go ...   )

At location, Steph -the salesman & most important a friend on mine- helps Charlyx to load the new toy inside the car :

Am I dreaming ? No it's now loaded in the car...

Oppss, I'm not sure that Steph will let me go with the Tron... He still has his  hand on it and seems to think : "What the F@#% I'm doing    ..."

  Am i dreaming ? No, the TRON is really ready to go with me ...

Steph now give me the symbolic coin of 20 belgium franc, who allows me to play the game ( the coin door is set for old belgium coin... not used anymore ... now we use €uro 8)  )

So we're starting to leave, and Steph watch me go away with his baby...
Please Steph, promise to me that we'll be still friend

Well, it's time to bring it back home... and we've 10 minutes to drive

I'm so happy, of course  :P

There it is : my home, and the TRON is really here :

Oh my god, the only free location for the cab is ... on the first floor  :?
Look at us, before to fight the staircases  8)

Fortunately, I'm not under the cab... and Charlyx has strong enough...

Ok, that cab is not so heavy, so it's ok but...

... I'm not smiling anymore

A last effort...

... et voilà !!!   :P

The TRON is now in location !!! My got we've done it

The job is done, thanks to Charlyx  for help me to bring back and carry my new toy  :P  You really deserve a good Belgium beer ( I'm still with my Coke Light... )
Thanks also to my friend -the seller- Steph  ! You rule !!!

opssss, we're not  with the right cabinet
 :P

...to be continue...

Dragon's Lair / Space Ace / More cartoongames!!
« on: March 12, 2005, 08:42:18 AM »
I don't have braindead13, but I would like to  try it...  I ofter see it on ebay for a very low cost, so it won't be a problem. Do you like it ?
They are many arcade laser game, but very few adapted for pc computer. I guess there're only Space Ace and Dragon's Lair for PC
The only solution to play them ( Esh's Aurunmilla, Super Don Quix-ote, Cliff Hanger, ... ) is to own the real laser disk  and Daphne Emulator.

I still remember the first time i saw DRAGON'S LAIR

Ok Space Harrier, I see you really prefere DRAGON'S LAIR  :P

The first encounter with Dragon's Lair was similar...
I was something like 10 or 12 years old... at the anual kermess party in my village... IT was there, and all  kids was surprised to see that strange game.
It was the first game to cost 20 bef (0.5€), all the others still was at 10bef.
No luck for the firt guys who tried it... the gameplay was so strange and surprising... all the moves had to be discovered and memorized  :?
I never seen anyone defeating the Dragon, even me... the game was too hard and also ... so expensive for a teenager like me

Few years l8ter, Space Ace came out, just side to side to the Dragon's Lair Cab, and I rembemer no one playing it... All the people watched the attract mode, but no one try it... I  did it,  and of course lose a lot of  money, because I wasn't able to see other players on it... but after me, few guys try it and so on...

My preference goes to Space Ace, for the Space Disco ambiance and music... the rythm of the game is betten than Dragon's Lair and Kim is
 so sexy

About the  Ruby-Spears Cartons, I have a big surprise soon
I got all the episode on NTSC vhs tape since more than 3 years, and I'm now able to digitalize them ... Stay tuned for that story  8)

PS : Do you have a website too ?

7945
Hi PacMan, and welcome to this forum

Here's the full specs of the vinyl used for the Gauntlet Legends custom control panel :

I got it from a Luxembourg shop called HORNBACH. It's a huge center where you can find EVERYTHING you need ....  Check their website : http://www.hornbach.lu/home/lu/html/fs_root.html

If you're not living close to Luxembourg, you can order it directly on the maker website :  http://www.alkor-deco.de/englisch/index_e.html

Hope it can help you

See you

Dragon's Lair / Space Ace / The big question : Space Ace or Dragon's Lair ?
« on: February 28, 2005, 08:07:19 PM »
Hi Space Harrier,

First of all, thanks for posting on this  forum... I really happy to see that they're Dragon's Lair fans are  still alive  8)

Thanks for your email and for the 'paperarcadecabin' to built    I'll print it soon and try to assemble it...   I'll post a picture of it of course
For information, I'll soon start to built my own full size Dragon's Lair cab from scratch... But I'll definitively start with  'paperarcadecabin'      8)

Opps, you didn't mention your website in your profile :? , can you add it or notify your website here, I would like to have a look at it    :)

Hope to have some news from you soon

27th of february... this is it  8)

Well, after more than five month working on this project... this is it :  The final step

I was waiting for my yellow T-Molding & special router head for doing the job since TWO month !!! Order items from US begin to  be very long ... F@#! custom #%&@ !!!!

Ok here's finally the stuff from T-Molding :

Inside the box : T-Molding & Router's head tool for doing the job :

Note that this T-Molding is exaclty the same size & color than the original one from the Gauntlet Legends cab...

The boring part : remove EVERYTHING on the control panel

... one hour later, the CP is naked .

Before using the Router, fix AS STRONG AS POSSIBLE the control panel, it can't move while the 'routing' process ! Caution ! 8)

Here's THE tool, ready to go :p :

Using a router was the most frightening part for me... I  mean it allows NO mistake, and it's a dangerous tool IMO ... But I  did the job   :P

Ok, now before to fix the CP overlay, the wood surface need to be as clean as possible. Here's what I'm using to clean the wood :

The control panel is ready for the overlay sticker

Take you time to apply a vinyl overlay with a such size...

... to avoid air bubbles.

Ok, now fix the T-Molding :

Done  :

From the control panel back,  cut carefully the holes :

I was so hurry to show how it looks on location, so here's a little preview

...another one :

Ok, it's time to fix the definitive push buttons, with the right colors  :P

To fix back the joysticks and other stuff, I'm using two chairs :

... a boring part : to wires -once again- all the push-buttons / joysticks / spiner & trackball : 90 minutes

But HERE's the result :

I'm really happy with that cab now, and I think I can play some games now ;-)

REMEMBER : I can revert back the Gauntlet Legends Mame/Daphne cab to the original Gauntlet Legends cab... I didn't modify any original items from that dedicated cab

I'll list the hardare parts / tools / software used for this project... And maybe  start to work on the GameCube integration  ... so stay tuned  8)  8)  8)  8)

C'est clair, du travail de pro. Faut être motivé aussi. :)

@+

Yo Codex  :P

Pro ?

A+++

« on: February 27, 2005, 04:33:28 PM »
Mouais...  :?
