Hi guys.

I'm looking for 4 seats from a racing arcade (e.g. Daytona). Just the plain seats. Not more.

Would prefer a set of 4 with the same design.

thanks.

If anybody has one on offer - even a "shell", contact me.
Prefered Midway style (NBA Jam/Blitz).

thanks.

Hi folks,

got a few spare cabinets and while talking to some friends these days (and seeing even Superully puts PC Engines into cabs) - which computer game (e.g. Amiga) deserve an original dedicated arcade?

I would loved to build one from my remaining cabinets. And would be a nice test for my upcoming printer/plotter :)

Katakis as a perfect R-Type Clone comes to my mind....and what about a 3-Player International Karate+ or 2 Player Speedball Sporting game..Shadow of the Beast will make a nice artwork..ahhh..so many options ::)

Speaking of this - which would be the perfect cabinet design according to the members here? Midway, Nintendo etc.?
Normally computer games only need one button.

A Sit Down Wing Commander cabinet would also be my favorite ;-)

Hey guys,

german based FORT FUN Park is selling some of their machines on offer:
https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.634346413281275.1073741829.620285838020666&type=3

That Jurassic Park 3D might be of interest, otherwise a few Twin Racers.

These should go quite cheap.

Arcade Lifestyle / Sad arcade story.
« on: March 02, 2014, 09:11:36 PM »
Hi folks,

after weeks of negotiation I need to reveal a story which made me very sad and angry.

While I traded an arcade cab with a nice Nintendo collector from germany a friend of him asked if he is into the arcade hobby.
Not at all, why you are asking he pointed back.
Well - seemed that girl had a brother...who collected arcade cabinets and his house was "full of these huge machines".
She pointed out that her brother commited suicide and that these machines are still there and if my friend would be interested.

He handed me the details and I offered him the following (as I usually do when these things happen*):
1) I can take a look for her, saying her the prices or stating some information on the games at all.
and/or
2) try to sell these off for her (keeping one or two for myself and paying a fair offer)
3) make an offer on the whole lot if I could afford these at all.

Now she wanted to take pictures while she just could remember the following "he had these huge machines....where you can sit in. I remember some looking like cars and there was that Star Wars cabinet".
Wait. Star Wars cabinet? I got a bit nervous on this.

The cabs were stored at his house and while she hadn't a key she wanted to go home for her parents (seems that the house was next to their parents house).
Her parents didn't let her in - "it's all okay you don't have to look".

I tried to contact her again after a few weeks. It's always a bit difficult talking to persons in the event of death and in addition under these circumstances.
She said that her parents won't let her in, so I took the opportunity to send her some pics from old Ebay auctions or current ones (especially on the Star Wars cabinet).

From the pictures she could remember a Daytona Deluxe Single Unit Sit Down and *oh no* an original 1980 Star Wars Sit Down cabinet.

Yes. A Star Wars sit down. Not only my holy collector grail since I played it on GameOn 2008 in London and Andres nice cabinet at Eurocade.

It was obvious to me if that guy had these 2 cabs - the other 10-15 units are of the same quality.
I offered her 4000 EURs for that Star Wars and while I'm out of money then offered again to sell all other cabinets off.

Well with these prices on her back (e.g. a Dayona DLX should cost 800-1200 EURs normally) she went again to her parents.
And now...they revealed the following:

ALL (!) cabs have been sold to someone from northern germany for the complete price of 500 EURs (that was the offer by that guy). He came with 4 persons and a large trailer to pick everything.

So if someone finds out who this person was...I would be very interested: Just to say him he will never went to heaven for this shameless behaviour picking over someones bones
It is my decent hope that he will have nightmares every day he falls asleep.

* I sold 10 cabs for a friend of mine who has a hard life with his cancer
* I sold 1000 original games and computer periphals from the 80's for the family of a friend of mine who died at 24 due to cancer

**Note to everybody: I hope your parents/best friends know whom to contact if something happens / in case of such things.

Hi folks,

as stated before I (and from what I heard a few of your guys as well) went to a "warehouse" find in southern lower saxony/Germany - Postcode 31785.

I took some pictures of the leftovers. I know the seller for quite a long time from various trades/sales (pinballs, jukeboxes and more) - he is a nice guy.

If someone is interested, these cabs will go for low prices now (starting 100-400 euros or on offer). Huge Discount for someone taking more of these.
Sold as is, local pickup.

Hence I will go there anyway by the next week I can offer to bring your cabs way more north (Bremen/Oldenburg). I may even deliver to the Netherlands or somewhere in northern germany on my weekly trips.
Storage at my place is possible for weeks (e.g. if you are waiting for container 5)
Detailed pictures on request. I have a few on my digicam left or could take some on my return.

Well then. Here's the list:

Note: All cabs are complete with monitors, wiring and PCB. Overall condition is dusty, a bit rusty (a few more) and all have issues or don't power up right now. They need a good cleaning standing in a garage for years.
That guy is not interested in putting more work into it, so for your technical heroes maybe a steal ;-)

These cabs need to be rescued (so did I with 5 of them - pics later or you have seen the DeathRace on my fb page already).

and no: I don't get anything from this. You may have seen these cabs already over on a german forum, but another guy (who wasn't the owner) tried to sell these on his profit (and about THAT guy himself is another story  )
Drop me a PM if you are interested in any of these. Thanks.

1) Midway Wheels II:
Powers up, gets into game...but cars won't accelerate. Seems to be an issue with the pcb. Price: 300 EUR.

2) Midway Submarine:
Complete, periscope rusty/glass inside splitted but there, not powering up. (sidearts are just dirty, they are clean and in good condition according to their age to my mind). Price: On offer

3) Universal Cosmic Monsters:
Actually there are two of them. One powers up, but doesn't gets into game. The other one couldn't be tested at all hence someone cutted the line cord. One is missing the Marquee (broken glass)
Look them up on klov - Nice Space Invaders clone. Price: Asking 230 for the set of two.
SOLD

4)Universal Galaxy Wars:
Not powering up. Looks nice. For your universal collection :) Asking: 150 EUR SOLD

5)Ramtek Hit Me
Powers up but PCB issues. doesn't get into game showing some "blocks". Price: For free if someone takes another one from the list.

6)Phoenix cabaret
Nice glasses, small cabinet. Powering up - working but no phoenix pcb included. Price: 180 EUR

7)Atari Night Driver
Not Powering up.  Price: 270 EUR SOLD

8)Exidy Circus
Powering up, monitor is ok, heating starts - but doesn't get into game. Probably PCB issues.
Price: 230 EUR
SOLD
He has a 2nd one (different location at his game room, very nice condition) - full working selling for 400 EUR. Both for 550 EUR.

9) Sega Enduro Racer
Not powering up. No sidearts. Bezel and glasses are included (not seen in the picture). Price: 100 EUR

10) Sonic Fighter
Now thats a RARE cab and belongs into a museum. Not powering up, otherwise complete. Price: 400 EUR. SOLD

11)Chicago Coin Speedway
And another one from the old arcade ages. Complete but doesn't power up. Price: 300 EUR

12)KEE Games Twin Racer
Racing fans among us? Black and white enthusiasts? Complete but doesn't powers up. Nice control panel if you want my opinion (missing a steering wheel but there might be a replacement). Price: 330 EUR

13)Nintendo Battle Shark
Actually there are 3(!) of them with one being in perfect condition, whereas the others are "more rusty" ;-) Note: These are quite heavy. (Number 3 can be seen on the NightDriver pictures)
One powering up and running. Price: on offer
all 3 now SOLD

14) Orion Universal cabinet
With HyperOlympic control panel. Not powering up. bootleg PCB as far as I can tell.  Price: For free if taking something else.

15) Konami WecLeMans
Nice sit down. Not powering up. Missing shift (might be a replacement somewhere). Price: Make offer.

16) Atari Sprint 2
Very nice side arts. Powering up, getting in the game. Small PCB issues (currently on repair to a forum member). Price: On offer

That's it - for now. There are a few more which could be taken, if you are there. TV ideals...and a few more b/w machines but not that arcade (video) related.

'Business' Area : Buy/Sell/Trade / WTB: Spinner Knob (Atari) e.g. Warlords
« on: February 26, 2014, 06:48:22 PM »
Hi folks,

for my Atari VCS 2600 Display Kiosk replica I need 2 Spinner knobs from Atari.

Anybody has a spare one (need two)?

There's a shop over in US selling replicas but asking to much postage.
http://www.ebay.de/itm/181207370391?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649
cheaper in the shop, but more expensive when it comes to postage (bad shop checkout system...)
http://www.arcadeadventures.com/spinner-knob-for-atari-games-new/

Funny would be using a spinner replica in a kiosk replica :)

anyway I was hoping that someone in Europe can help me out?

Artwork / Buying a large Plotter/Printer - suggestions?
« on: February 26, 2014, 06:44:32 PM »
Hi folks,

I have decided to buy a large 44" or at least 36" Plotter/Designjet.

Any recommendations? Anybody own one?

Hence the new ones are too expensive I was looking for a 2-year old model...wondering if it's really needed to have more than 600 dpi when it comes to arcade artwork?
Which models are used by your preferred printing partners (local shops)?

thx.

Hello folks,

instead of downgrading my collection (well not really but currently more active in the marketplace section) it was time for another roadtrip. This time I didn't forget my camera (well not really but in some places that's were wiki comes in) so stay tuned for another roadtrip.

This time no map (the new google maps sucks) just take northwest Germany and the lower southwest near France and you have it.
Map: http://www.falk.de/routenplaner/?u=3D592S

After staying up early Saturday in the morning with a short coffee to go my Opel Vectra is back on it's route - with about no traffic at all in the first hours. I love this car (so do Superully) because of its large luggage space in the back (or should we say arcade space?).
BTW: It's currently on sale if someone is interested  ;D

So...the A1 down it will be. Before reaching the 1st medieval town/city I realized I passed a place I haven't been for more than 10 years:

What is this? A large Neo Geo Turf Master Advertisment?
A hidden NSA white spot on the map?
Well - no. It's one of a few satellite communication centres for military purpose in Germany. I served my military duty there for german navy during the bosnian war.
More I cannot tell (restricted - f.y.e.o.) - hence otherwise I would need to kill the whole forum members then  8)

The city of Euskirchen ist also very famous for one of the "Soda" Bridges standing every there and all over the place. Whats a Soda Brigde? something tasty to drink? A new Dr Pepper limited edition?
No. Sadly No. Take a look at this:

(By Ketti2606 (Own work) [Public domain], via Wikimedia Commons)
The government started to build a new autobahn but didn't count on a nearby farmer who thought this would be a stupid idea having a motorway in his backyard. He went to court and in the end won...and the council had to stop the buildings. Unfortunately the bridge was already there...and it's still there...and that's what makes it one of the "soda bridges" because it "stands so da" (i.e. stands there in the landscape with no use).
more pics over here: http://skyware.fam-engels.de/galerie/soda-euskirchen/

The bridge itself became famous again after notorious cologne "folk pop band" BAP used the bridge on their album/vinyl (check: http://www.ksta.de/region/rueckblick-bap-machte--so-da-bruecke--beruehmt,15189102,12518058.html. btw....carneval is in range...

anyway....back on the route and arriving in medieval Trier at 11:30....you know what's on the other side of this famous black portal (UNESCO world heritage)?

Yes! It's Tyrem's place/videogame shop/arcade basement heaven.
And this week full of additional arcade machines from USA. Take cover - these machines coming closer

Unloading the nice Galaga88 for the collection and in the shop it goes.

If I only had space (in the car - not my house) to load one of the remaining cabs but I assume some Container friends wouldn't be amused ;-)
I dropped off a few more items - more on this later...and took at least this nice mug with me ("What do you want for transport?" Give me this mug and we're done)

Back on the road, time to reach the final destination for saturday: The lovely city of Saarbrücken near the border.
Whats next? another arcade machine going into the car?
No. Not this time  :o

for those who know me I don't collect (only) arcades - I'm a bit more into this retro-gaming hobby. My main interest is Commodore Amiga games. And that's why I came for.
A 10-year-knowing collector buddy/old friend  is going out of the hobby and we agreed on a a total for his awesome game collection. Took him years (so myself) to get the best games in perfect boxed condition.
And hence sun is the worst friend of vintage game boxes he stored everything in moving boxes and a shelf. Nicely decorated with our favorite game: Defender of the Crown:

Thats' 400+ games in total - here are some impressions:

After a lot of small talk and some coffee we went into the city for lunch. But before passed two nice locations.
X-Comics: One of the larger Comic stores in Germany

See: http://www.x-comics.de/ for more info (btw I would have loved to buy some of the stuff but with 400+ games pockets are damned empty for a few months).
and later...
Palace Saarbrücken:

(By user:Flicka (Own work) [GFDL (http://www.gnu.org/copyleft/fdl.html), CC-BY-SA-3.0 (http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/) or CC-BY-SA-2.5-2.0-1.0 (http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/2.5-2.0-1.0)], via Wikimedia Commons)

We went to a famoud american diner/burger company from france who opened a franchise in Saarbrücken. It's called Arizona Diner.

More information: http://www.stadtmagazin.com/saarbruecken/arizona-diner-saarbruecken#1

After a nice double burger with fries and two shakes (chocolate ftw) we went home and decided against the band
What I learned later from his other collection is that arcade machines are peanuts in money when it comes to vintage mountain bikes:

There are people willing to pay XXXX for frames, XXXX for breaks and more stuff...at least if they are from a famous company, made out of aluminium and have a typical neon colour.

Another day...back to work. After having some french bakery stuff (can't recall the name, was stuffed with some cream) we loaded the car:

In addition my friend gave me a nice present - as you suggested: Mugs  ;D

...and then back on the road towards north.

Another short break at medieval Trier:

I left some stuff besides the Galaga - which nicely found it's place in the basement by night  :pac:

Jochen - well known friend of Tyrem - needed to sign some games for me (which I brought from my home). And so he did:

No more pictures of the basement - there are dozens of over here:

On my way back I made another medieval stop over for coffee - at the lovely small town of Nordkirchen near Münster.

and arrived safely right in time for the blockbuster at home again.

With 2 days, 1100km roundtrip, 2 castles and 3 mugs this roadtrip is over. That's all folks.
