Meetings, Exhibition, Events... / Eurocade 2011 - Cavemans Report
« on: September 05, 2011, 04:45:43 PM »
Hi everyone.

So here are my pics ... when I see all the other great road reports I come to the conclusion that I need more practice. My pics suck compared to the others but here we go ;)

PCB prepared for traveling. Since PP II is such a sensitve game, I decided to pull it out of the cab to avoid a doa.

I have no idea who this guy is or why he's taking pictures of me. Just in case the police is looking for some strange photo stalker the next days I took a picture of him myself. After a little chat, I decided to take him with me. His name was Jochen (bencao74). ;)

Never travel without supplies ...

No space for more gadgets ... I think my next car will be a transporter ;)

Finally there (after about six hours and a dozend traffic jams)

What a beautiful sight already!

One man and his precious ...

The backrow with the brilliant Bezerk. I definately have to get my hands on one of these :D

Very nice Mario Bros.. Unfortunately I have to admint, that I have only played it one coin. Stupid me :(

DK in perfect condition. I love it.

Space Pirate also in wonderful condition. Very nice green vector.

Gravitar. Never played that before (of course). So hard but so cool. One of my favorites on the Eurocade.

Anyone need a top ten classic game? They are all here ...

The crew at work. BTW: Thank you guys for the perfect event.

A little test with the lights out. Looking good for me.

The other day. When we arrived there were already new cabs and pinball machines set up ... and the crew got their t-shirts ;)

@!#?@! - That must be "just try to beat my insane highscore" in english.

Damn, this game is big.

Sigh. Why is this not my place.

The red tent was very cool! I would love to have one of these too.

Star Wars cockpit ... bringing back memories. This was one of the few dedicated cabs I played as a kid. Someday I might donate some organs to some rich folk in exchange of that cab.

Ice Cold Beer. I love it all the way. The cab and the real stuff but mainly the cab of course. ;)

Another lesson learned: I have to get one of these new school pinball machines. I already have a System 11 pinball but the gadget stacked new ones are cool too. Somebody wants to swap a Pin*Bot for a Tales of the Arabian? :D

T2 in very good condition. I might go for that one, because it's for sale right now. I just have to convince Mrs. Caveman that this years vacation is defered till next year ;)

So, that's it. Thanks again for the wonderful weekend and see you again at the eurocade 2012!!!

Arcade Lifestyle / How to store cabs
« on: July 20, 2011, 09:36:10 AM »
Hi everyone.

As we all know, space is one of the major problems with our hobby. So I am looking for the best practice to store some stuff and the cabs that I don't want to sell. I have a big garage. It's not heated (of course) and it's freezing in there in the winter but it's the only room I can afford at the moment.

So how store stuff in there? First thought: I rip the pcbs and all the electronic stuff incl. the chassis out, bubblewrap all the goods and put them into a big box. The cab itself is placed on top a pallet and also wrapped in plastic. How about that idea? Will the cab last a few years without getting messed up from humidity and stuff this way? Is it a good idea to leave the tube in there? How and where do you store your spare cabs?

I have to make a decission on this topic till the weekend otherwise a friend will come over and pick up the After Burner ... I actually don't want to sell that game if I find a good spot for it to stay till I have a gameroom big enough to hold even the games I don't like that much but that are nice additions to the collection ;)

Technical Area / Hang On Calibration
« on: May 27, 2011, 09:55:11 AM »
Hi guys!

I'm currently fixing my Hang On, which lived almost a year in the garage and is now chosen to come into the cave. Everything is working fine, except the pots in the steering wheel (at least I think it's the pots). When I reach the highscores, I can easily toggle thru the letters with the gas lever but I'm not able to go one letter further with the wheel. The input test says 80h in the middle position, which is good according to the manual. I'm not sure about the max. values though. Can anybody with a Hang On tell me the max. values for steering, gas and brake? In the game I don't notice any problems but I have the slight feeling that something is wrong with that.

Thank's in advance!!
cheers, prc

All the rest / Hello World ... here comes the caveman
« on: September 09, 2010, 05:47:11 PM »
Hello everybody!

I would like to introduce myself to the wonderful people of the Dragons Lair Fan Forum. I'm following you guys for quite a while here. Some of you might know me from the other (mainly german) forums as I know some of you from the meeting at Luigis and Kriks place last year or other strangs occasions (like buying an After Burner Upright ;)).

I did a lot of different things in the past, like restoring cabs, converting old german universals to shiny little gems, building high end arcade sticks together with my friend bencao74... right now I'm on a Atari Video Pinball who needs a good amount of work right now and I try to get my Pinbot pinball working again. Besides all of that I recently put all my cabs in the basement ... The Cave ... to get rid of the complaints of Mrs Caveman who claimed the living room back for living  ::)

Ok ... I think thats it for now ... some pics of course, because everybody loves pics, right? ;) Looking forward to get it on here ...

cheers, prc
