Yeah , you're right , Marco !

In fact that is the reason why I already sold 1 self-builded-from-zero Mame cab and did some other "adjusting" woodwork ...  ;D ( and I'm still restoring another cab to sell  ;) )
I noticed people want it ALL with nothing more to do ( I use to say : "PC config is ALL your ... I test all the cab'electronics and controls, then I'll remove my "test-HDD" and install a NEW one ... You've to do it by yourself !" ) .
Collecting cabs or simply having only one while in a flat at the 2nd or 3rd ( 4th , 5th ... etc... ) floor is not properly a good thing ...
It must be a rich man that could have hundreds of square meters available or simply a single man with at least a  2-bedroom-apartment  ;) .
Since years I only had business with single-house-people , and the heaviest work for me is take / pick up  a cab in their underground tavern  .

Well ... it's not for personal "glory" ... but I am PROUD to own a self-builded Cinematronics-like Dragon's Lair cab .
If I knew I would not be able to make it then I sure didn't do it !
But that's it !
http://picasaweb.google.com/macdlsa/MacDLSAGameRoom#5291266544034559106

I know it lacks of an original CoinDoor ( hehe ... but recently a good friend named Jeff Kinder sent me a couple of Cinematronics silver stickers , and one of them is already attached just in the middle of the coindoor ;) ) , "regular" marquee rails and a plastic monitor bezel , but when I began to build all I decided to realize "by-myself" these particulars, too.
SO IT DOESN'T MATTER TO ME !
My cab is beautiful and this is also the judgement of the BEST LaserGames expert / engineer / technician we could have here in Italy ...

I am NOT a collector ( except for my wonderful Atari VCS collection !!! ) , so I threw a PC running Daphne inside the cab ...
Simply and certainly more

Woodpanels ? Well ... "light"MediumDensity ( it costs almost twice the "normal" MDF ) could be simply cut in ANY way one want .
http://picasaweb.google.com/macdlsa/MacDLSAGameRoom#5139815267836783874
Price : 100€ for the 2 LMDF shoulders + 40€ for other panels ( black plated wood )

Control Panel ? I took a piece of zinc metal and bring it to a factory ( near the one where I work since , ARGH !!! , 18 years ! ) where there are lots of specific machinery which could do almost everything with metals ...
http://picasaweb.google.com/macdlsa/MacDLSAGameRoom#5139815250656914658
pèrice : 30€ for the metal piece and the bend work .

Of course I was not able to reproduce the scoreboard plexi and the original audio speaker , so i bought them from a U.S. spare parts collector ( and also speaker's grills ) ... and that's almost the same for the scoreboard , wich is now connected via parallel port to the PC which is inside the cab.
http://picasaweb.google.com/macdlsa/MacDLSAGameRoom#5139815263541816562.
Price : 150€ for all

Controls ? Wico red-ball ( repro ) stick , buttons and T-molding came NEW from the U.S.
http://picasaweb.google.com/macdlsa/MacDLSAGameRoom#5139815216297176226
Price : 60€

USB interface for controls : a very nice J-Pac Value Edition that came from U.K.
http://picasaweb.google.com/macdlsa/MacDLSAGameRoom#5139815203412274322
Price : 40€

CoinDoor : I took it from an old BLEW UP (!!!) Jamma cab
Price : 10€

The PC is my old one that I store up just for this purpose  ;)
http://picasaweb.google.com/macdlsa/MacDLSAGameRoom#5139815229182078130
Price : ????

ALL THE REST is self-made or reproducted !!!

Artworks ?
I took some good Hi-Res scans from the web , developed and printed by a friend with his huge color plotter .
The paper used for the CP is rough to the touch , the marquee one is smooth and matte while sidearts are smooth and shiny ... just like the "original" repros already available from the U.S.
Price = 60€ for all
http://picasaweb.google.com/macdlsa/MacDLSAGameRoom#5139815194822339714

Maybe I missed something ...
AH , I forget the MAIN part af this project :
a detailed PDF wit ALL the measurements , from the smallest detail to the biggest .
It was developed by a good italian friend who dismantled his DL to restore it all !
YES .. without this project I couln't be able to reach my goal !

Thats' all ... and I wanted to say : if I could do it , then several other people could !

Dragon's Lair / Space Ace / Re: Wonderfull!!! Dragon's Lair for iPhone!!!
« on: December 07, 2009, 09:45:44 PM »
Bruno !

Here I am again , friend !

YESSSSS ... DL for iPhone is wonderful ...
It lacks of some original arcade moves ( even in the "Arcade" mode ) but it's very nice !
Did you see they still DID NOT removed the "hair" of the exit door of "Throne room" ?  :D

79
No , Jaz ... DON'T DO IT !
Space Ace is one ( wonderful , obviously ) thing ... Dragon's Lair is a piece of life !

I hope that "keep hunting" wouldn't mean "dwnld with P2P prgrms" ...
Just tell what are the games you'd like to have and I'll see if someone will keep his PC/server "ON" for seeding files ... FROM DaphneDownLoader , of course !

Hi there

[ well ... if there's still anyone who's trying to download mpegs and the other files from DaphneDownLoader then just ask , and I'll do my best to keep seeders "on" to increase your dwnld speed  ;) ! ]

Let me take two of these lines to explain that it could be better to download ALL files directly from DDL , roms included .
Yeah , you could get them from D-L-P , too , but ( I say for "normal" users ) it's just a waste of time , 'cause DDL already does it ( roms, framefiles, sounds and the other files but the mpegs will take a short time to dwnld / update because they all weigh few Mbytes ) !

2297   dls02.vob.m2v
..."
If it is your Dragon's Lair framefile then you have NOT the "official" Daphne game , 'cause it's the "typical" framefile of a "multi-files" DL , maybe obtained with the "DVD2Daphne" process from the DVD-Video ( or ROM ) or other way ...
Daphne official Dragon's Lairs have MUCH better quality ( they're CAPTUREs of real laserdiscs ) and run without any issue , while multiple files DL may have some problems when played with "Enhanced" U.S. romsets .
Also if you are european and/or want to play the "Euro" (Atari rev. D1 or D.2 ) or the Sidam/Italian versions you need the PAL mpeg , that could be downloaded ONLY from DDL .

garykagan> heh ... you was near to the target ... keep pushed service button ("9") then hit on "1 player start" ("1") to access main menu ( this will work with EVERY romset choosen ... and , of course , works with an original laserdisc , too ... ) , then press "sword" button 3 times to have access at the 4th page of the menu , in which are shown the "Average play time" and ...
"DIFFICULTY 1 to 4" .
You said your game has hints on the first level : ok , then I think the difficulty level is set on "0" ( yeah , despite it's written "1 to 4" it is possible set it to "0" ! ) . So , using "left" or "right" you can change difficulty level : try setting it to "1" ( 2 is the arcade default ) and ... let's go play withOUT any hints !

Hi Hansie .

[ Sorry if I ask ... are you the one of the United Coders ?
If "Yes" then we already talked time ago , just about "your" Nintendo DS' Dragon's Lair ! ]

WELL ...
first of all : Euro/Atari rev.D1 or D.2 romsets for PAL version of Dragon's Lair don't allow to play the drawbridge&hallway scene.
The only romset ( except of the Enhanced versions of U.S. DL ) that can do it is the Sidam(by Atari) italian one.

Here is a clip taken from my Daphne/Dragon's Lair cab running a PAL/Euro DL with the Sidam romset ( medium skill level , 5 lives ) .
( btw: the emulation is still to be fixed , but gameplay is almost perfect ! )
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cuaY61953Mc
As you can see the drawbridge&hallway does NOT appear as the 1st scene , 'cause it's , like ALL the others , played in a RANDOM way !

Note: Sidam is the only DL that always makes me angry ! That's due to its "particular" move-timing after the 5th-6th completed scene ... I was able to complete it only few times in the 80's and 2 times ( !!! ) since I have that cab ! Moreover playing with the Sidam you could reach the lair with only 10-15 rooms successfully completed , so we all can say it's the worst ( but the hardest , too , if we don't consider the "VERY RARE" Atari rev.D2 , that is a "combination" with the Sidam difficulty and the Atari rev.D1 gameplay ) Dragon's Lair version !

... and the answers to your questions are :
A> In ALL Euro&Italian DL revs. player awards score ONLY when he does a correct move , so NO "49 pts." achieved at the beginning of a scene !
B> With the first drawbridge move (SWORD) player awards 750 pts.
with the second ( RIGHT ) 750 pts.
with the third ( LEFT ) 1000 pts.
and with the fourth and last move ( RIGHT ) 1000 pts.
for a total scene score of 3500 pts.

Of course if you need some more info ... I'm here !

Bye for now

Marco

NEVER played Firefox ???????????????????

How could it be possible ?

Bruno !!!
You SHOULD add an original FFox cab in your collection / arcade room !

I' m already active to develop a new control panel with analog "cloche" controller to play games like FFox and StarWars on my new Mame cab
( er ... I still have to build it , but I think I could try that cloche in my "current" cab before ;D ) .

Hi fans

Only want to tell
FIREFOX
is on Mame

Look for the newest ( 0.128u3 & u4 ) releases of Mame and ... GOOD LUCK with the CHD downloading  ;) .

> fortunately this game is not a "hardware-treater" like CQ , so you could play it at full-speed ( I mean with the CORRECT framerate , with almost NO graphic-fault ) with a "poor" Pentium 4 Hyp.Thred. 3.4 , 3.2 or even 3.0 Ghz ( heh ... like mine  ! ) .

Hi my friends !

Thanks , me and family are almost well  , but we're going to move from our house to another ...
And that other has less space and NO 40sqm. garage for my cabs  :'( !
I have to ensure a little room for them , but NO MORE CABS  :-\ !
I just have in project of re-building another Mame cab and sell the one I already have .

Well , Nuno , in my garage there are 2 cars , 4 shelves and a "work-bench" ( 1 saw , 1 compressor , various equipments ) too ... so 3 cabs are enough for me and my friends who always want to come and play  :D !
The only cab I always wanted to own except of DL is Sega Rally championship ( the first ... with the Lancia Delta Integrale  :) ! ) , but I'm sure the Mame cab I want to build could have a steering weel and a gearshift , too ... maybe with a changeable control panel  ;) .

Bye for now
