High Score - Are you the best ... around? / Re: Robotron: 2084
« on: April 14, 2016, 09:08:01 PM »
A thread from the dead  :D

I noticed I hadn't put up my new score on Robotron I got a few weeks back...

Up until then i'd been playing not that well averaging around 1mill each time I had a game..I expected the same with this game but I were to be proved totally wrong...

The game lasted around 7hrs with a score of just over 25million  :D

I wrapped the waves at 256 three times and worked it back up wave 61....I did 'kill' the game off as I were really hungrey and my back was bloody acheing from just standing there for all that time..... :D

It was on the same settings as last time...

Difficulty....5 (Recommended)
Extra life....25,000
Starting lives...3

It was done on the 'TIEDIE' rom Jrok board hence the score showing up as 25,000,000+ (The original Williams boards 'clock' at 10,000,000)

For those who don't frequent UKVAC I got my highest score to date the other day and posted it on there....

This was done on my scratch build Robotron using the latest Jrok board with the Tie Die roms..

Difficulty setting 5 recommended,3 life start and extra life every 25,000

I rapped the waves at 256 which took the wave 'difficulty' back to the original starting wave 1...then got it back to wave 99 so if you continue counting the waves after the 256 rap around I got to 'wave 355'...

well chuffed.... ;D

My scratch build for those who haven't seen it....

You may want to update the high score chart on the first post of this thread...

Had a very long game today and managed to smash my personal best by 7 million...

Playing time was around 9 1/2 hrs and the setting were,

Hardest setting with 6 shields start with 1 shield bonus...

62,337,744

I did record the whole game so i'll upload to youtube (well maybe not all parts as that'll take forever  :D) but the last hour or so if thats ok

'Business' Area : Buy/Sell/Trade / Robotron/Defender plastic moniter bezel
« on: November 23, 2013, 01:01:51 PM »
I'm after one of the plastic moniter surround bezel from either a Robotron or a Defender...I'm hopefully gonna be building a scratch replica of a Euro Robotron so I no that if someone has a US surround i'll trim it down to fit...

Quartercade sell them but what with the postage costs form the States and the possibility of import duty it would quickly turn very expensive...Also Quartercade have a minimum $50 order for overseas purchases (postage isn't included in the $50 either) and the surrounds are only $25 and I only want the one item....

what ya got chaps ?

A little improvement on my last youtube SW score,

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RnliAAkyZcE

The game is only from around the 27mill mark to 30mill (the last 26mins or so from a 5hr game)

Its in 2 parts (the second video is only about 3-4 mins long)

The score I got tonight, nothing compared to Russ, but still :)

2,031,661

Thats a great score right there matey. When I got my upright last year I were so 'out of practice' at not played or even seen a Starwars (upright and cockpit) in the flesh for knocking on 25 years it took me a long time to find my playing 'groove' again.I just could not get passed wave 12 for ages ...But practice made good for me...

Keep on playing and you'll soon be massing up 20/30 million + in no time...The game just does not get any harder in the higher waves

Sorry to bring up a old post. But Russ, could you maybe record your gameplay some time? I always die on the 4 trench (starting from hard). Only passed it a couple of times, so far my best score is 1.656.468 (check here http://chassisarcade.dk/high-scores/current/)

Does the trench level keep changing, or does it at some point start over?

Here you go matey,

There are 5 parts to the video as well...

sorry for a late reply regarding filming a good SW game....I'll sort something out and pop it onto Youtube.

The T&G settings are 'Hard' level (not 'Hardest' to which I do usually play on).So I'll play on 'Hard' level with 6 shields start and 1 bonus shield

While the concrete is drying...

At first glance at the top of this photo it looks like some one 'crouched' down with a white carrier bag over their head...very sinister

But then I looked closer, its a black refuse bag with a white bag sticking out of the top

Arcade Lifestyle / Re: Next week... Las Vegas
« on: September 25, 2012, 10:29:02 PM »
I went to Vegas in 2010 for my 40th and i had a fantastic time.Freemont Street is a must but if you are staying near the strip either get a taxi to Freemont or there are 2 buses that go there (one's a 'double decker' bus called 'The Deuce' and the other is one of them long 'bendy busses' and thats called 'The Gold Line') whatever you do don't try and walk to Freemont as its one hell of a walk also Freemont is in 'Downtown Las Vegas' and the residential area before freemont is quiet a dodgy area and not advisable to walk through...

Also if you do go into any of the casinos just as long as you are 'seen' gambling on either the tables or fruit machines you can basically get drinks for free (just order off one of the many waitress's that are working in the casinos

I never went to the Pinball Hall Of Fame when i were there (didn't no there was such a place tbh )

If you aren't afraid of heights then go to the top of the Stratosphere casino/hotel there's a small rollorcoster and few other rides on the top (not for the faint hearted  :D)....

Also book a helicopter ride either over the Vegas strip at night (this is what me and the wife did and it was awesome) or you can book trips to fly over the Grand Canyon (which i'm gonna do next time we go to Vegas)....

I could bang on about Vegas all night as i really loved the place....the only 'gripe' i have is that you felt 'obliged' to 'tip' at virtually every bar/restaurent we went into even if we were just having a drink and not eating .....still its all part of the Vegas experience i suppose  :D

superb Dragons Lair  8) 8)

Would love to own one as i were a big fan of them BITD....Played both versions in Leeds (The first version i saw and played was the Cinematronics version in the 'Starlight Rooms' arcade that was in Leeds, the Atari version i played in the 'Original Penny Arcade' in Leeds....

I much prefered the Cinematronics version to the Atari version as the most annoying thing with the Atari version was the 'blue score screen' that showed up in between the levels
