Good condition overall, cab does have some swelling and could do with a little tidying to make it more minty. Side art has been trimmed at the edges otherwise good condition. All in all a very presentable, rare cab.

Monitor is burn free and has a fabulous bright crisp image.
Scoreboard and skill lights all work fine.

Dragon's Lair / Space Ace / Leisure and Allied Space Ace

I haven't posted in ages and it seems laserdisc cabs / interest is a bit thin on the ground so thought I'd post this up. This cab will probably be familiar with some of you  ;)

Towards the end of last year I saw this cab on ebay UK. Any mention of DL or SA cabs gets my interest - they rarely come up for sale, are overpriced and usually not working so when I saw this I was intrigued.
At first I didn't know what the cab was and I thought it was a bit weird. Defintely not cheap either, but, it was a working original Space Ace cabinet!

After much time looking at the pictures, finding out as much information as I could about this cab (including on this very forum of course!) it really started to grow on me... yes its not a classic style DL cabinet, but is a proper dedicated machine and very rare too. It has the scoreboard, the cool marquee shape (although totaly different art and upside down!) and really looks like a laserdisc "style" cab - colourful and cartoony. Not all LD cabs are in this style of course but I do like the ones that are.

I had to import the machine from the Isle of Man in the UK. I'm not sure how it ended up there but I knew this was imported from Australia by Finny here on the forum and was part of his amazing Don Bluth collection. I had no idea the collection was split up but I am glad to be this cab's current custodian.

Thankfully the machine still worked when it arrived, it does have some swelling and sadly the side art has been trimmed but actually the machine is in pretty good condition. Unfortunately the LD player seems to be on its last legs - it works but is slow and doesn't like to eject. It had a hitech card installed but I was keen on getting Dexter and Merlin running in it so I could play DL, SA and DL2 on the same machine. I still intend on having a go at cleaning up the player's internals though (along with my 4 non-working LDV players too).

Fast forward to now and I've just recently got the Dexter/Merlin combo working. It's so nice to be able to play the other games and switch them from the control panel. Here's a (pretty bad) photo of it in my lineup sharing centre stage with Astron Belt/Galaxy Ranger and others.

I think i'm now definitely a "laser" guy

Hopefully these toys are allowed in this forum...

I don't know whether these games were generally available or popular in other parts of Europe, (I know they did Italian, US & Japanese ones) but in the UK, Pocketeers were all the rage before hand held electronic games like Game & Watch were invented.
I got into collecting these ages ago and I have now manged to get the complete collection all boxed. It took me 10 YEARS of constant searching to get them all.
If you've ever been interested in these you'll probably have seen this site: http://www.masters.me.uk/pocketeers/completelist-pocketeers.htm
I'll post up some photos of my collection when I find the pictures I took of them.

It looks like some of you guys have been collecting video games for a long time too, I'd be interested to know how long it took some of you to get hold of your grails, or even your first dream cab.
I'm only just starting to try and get a couple of my favorite arcade games and I've already missed out on a few. Do you find getting hold of the things you want particularly difficult considering so many people are looking for classic games now?

Hi all! My first "decent" post hopefully :)

First of all I am not the seller of these machines nor could I endorse the seller or get a commission, but I thought I'd post these up in case anyone is interested in them. I am new to the forum so forgive me if this isn't recommended or anything, please let me know if this is the case / remove the post etc.

I got speaking to an ebay seller regarding a machine he had, I am in the UK and I was wondering about the logistics of getting a cab from the US. Chuckie egg from the forum here gave me details of someone who might be able to help but I haven't followed up on this yet (thanks Chuckie egg though).

Anyway the seller mentioned to me he had a rare Gorf - I seem to remember seeing one of the pictures of it online before, but he sent me some photos of it.
It is stamped with serial number 116, has stenciled side art plus a second speaker over the CP, maybe some of you have come across this machine before?
The seller is starting at $1500 and accepting offers, plus he sent me this list of other stuff he has for sale not listed on ebay or other auction sites yet:

Pacman (will be restenciling the graphics soon)
Gorf with rare stenciled side art and second speaker above control panel (works just needs sound connector repinned before sale)(not restoring cabinet to save its patina since its so rare)
Gorf with side art (will be restoring cabinet soon, will have rebuilt monitor and sound board)
Mortal Kombat II (works great, looks great..on ebay now)
Mortal Kombat I (works great. I just have to restore the cab with ne cabinet decals. Full restore)
Cruis'n USA sitdown (working)( Monitor has been rebuilt as well as steering pot replaced)
Cruis'n USA sitdown (working game. repairing monitor right now)(new steering pot installed)
Marvel vs Capcom cps2 game in dynamo hs-5 cabinet (works. has new cpo and marquee)
Williams Gorgar Pinball (works, mpu and driver board rebuilt as well as power supply and sound board capacitors replaced)
Williams Gorgar Pinball (being worked on, will have same things fixed as the first one)
Omega Race ( I have a reproduction motherboard that I need to build for it)( will have full restore)
Williams Stargate ( needs repair finished)

He also said he can also get hold of a Dragon's Lair 2 for $2500.

Lastly he mentioned he was going to an operator's warehouse soon, and if anyone has specific requests for items he could try and source them.

If anyone is interested in any of these I'll pass his details on to you, please PM me. As I said I'm not involved in the sale in any way just passing on information.
Interestingly though the seller has a large amount of storage space in New York and could hold on to items if they were paid for, he doesn't offer any shipping services though.
If you guys were thinking about doing another ship from the US perhaps these this might be of interest to you (and maybe you could let me know too!)

Well there you go, hope this info is of use to someone or if not then something interesting to check out.

(I haven't worked out how to upload images yet, presumably I need to have them hosted somewhere and input the URL within the image tags?)

All the rest / another newbie

Hi there, I just joined up after spending most of last week reading through the restoration blogs on this site. You'll see me on a couple of other well known arcade collectors sites too no doubt.
Anyway im Ian, I don't have any cabs yet (i've got a good game & watch collection though) but I hope to remedy that situation soon.

I've been a massive fan of laserdisk games since they came out - my fave is probably astron belt, I only ever played a cockpit version of this but it was amazing - the music now gives me such a nostalgic feeling it almost brings a tear to my eye haha.

Well hopefully i'll contribute a bit more to the site, and keep a lookout for my first restoration project. In the meantime I still have a few more of your restorations to read through, at least im learning quite a lot :)
