Arcade Lifestyle / Canyon Bomber
« on: December 14, 2012, 10:34:42 AM »
I've finally decided to restore my Canyon Bomber CP, mainly because the silkscreened graphic started to self-destroy.
Since no one has yet reproduced th CPO I've decided to make it from scratch, I've made the graphics then printed on vinyl and die cutted.
I have to admit that the result makes me very happy.

After the sandblaster treatment

Here's the restored cp on the cab

'Business' Area : Buy/Sell/Trade / WTB: Missile command trackball
« on: February 10, 2012, 07:13:50 PM »
I'm looking for a missile command trackball assembly cabaret/cocktail version.
Mostly I'm looking for the metal shell so I can evaluate also incomplete assemblies.
I can pay or trade with other arcade stuff.

Thanks

P.S. I know that a reproduction is available but I'm looking for the original part.

'Business' Area : Buy/Sell/Trade / Zaccaria Buck Rogers cockpit
« on: November 08, 2011, 09:06:52 AM »
Found on Ebay Italy:
http://www.ebay.it/itm/MOBILE-CABINATO-DA-BAR-OUT-RUN-1987-/330637545232?pt=Giochi_da_Bar_Flipper_Jamma&hash=item4cfb888f10

Unfortunately it has been converted into Out Run, fortunately by selling the Out Run stuff the missing pieces can be purchased.

All the rest / Goodbye Dennis!

Dennis Ritchie (31 b.C. - 39 a.C.)

Unfortunately Ritchie is (was) a famous unknown, no titles on newspapers, no breaking news about his death.
He didn't create anything funny, glam or posh
he wasn't considered the guru of everything neither the smartest guy in the room
he just gave us a letter: never a single letter did so much in I.T.

Technical Area / Help needed to defeat the daemon
« on: June 28, 2011, 05:07:06 PM »
I'm quite sure that a daemon lives inside the circuitry of the Cascade PCB I'm currently fixing, there's no other explanation because I've checked and analyzed everything many times but still the PCB is faulty.

Cascade is the Sidam version of Avalanche (schematics are more less equal to the original with minor changes), a game based on the classic Atari 6502 layout.

After the usual troubleshoot (pcb was totally dead) I've got this behaviour:

- Romset is ok
- video sync prom is ok
- watchdog resets correctly
- self test is ok
- game starts

As you can see by the attached picture the screen shows the right things but it seems that there's an error in the video ram (but is not a faulty ram IC). The weird thing is that the game is fully playable except the fact that there's some sort of autocoin.

Prior to begin the "brute force" method (= replace every IC) is there anyone that can have a look at the schematics and give me a suggestion on what to check?

Many thanks for your help.

P.S. I've also tried what Vernimark calls "Arcade magic wand" (Hp logic comparator) but, in my opinion, is useful as a raincoat when you are crossing the death valley.

My name is Alessio, italian, mid forty, one wife, two children, 15 cabs (see attached picture) and one pin.

Currently fighting with a possessed PCB (Cascade) and always looking for a Missile command cabaret.
