Arcade Lifestyle / Bit Brothers - A danish arcade documentary
« on: August 15, 2013, 12:44:48 PM »
We are filming a arcade documentary here in Denmark, and we've decided to call it Bit Brothers. It will be about the people hanging out at Chassis Arcade in Copenhagen, but more important, about our journey to get Svavar qualified for the Kong Off 3 and have him in the DK row. We will bring some other people to beat some arcade world records while we're at it: Kim Kanonarm = Gyruss and 1943: Battle of Midway & Michael Dyst = Puzzle Bobble. You can read all about it at www.bitbrothers.dk and www.facebook.com/bitbrothersmovie

There's a small trailer/teaser online now (and yes, we are working on subtitles for it)  8)

There will probably come a Kickstarter thing at some point, but will keep you guys posted. Thank you!

« on: January 17, 2013, 01:51:33 AM »
Just wanted to let you guys know about these places in Denmark (Copenhagen and Roskilde to be more precise). Who knows, maybe someday when you are visiting Muerto, and his gameroom for some unknown reason does not satisfy you, you know where to go :D

Chassis Arcade in Copenhagen - Really cool place! Check out the highscores on their site to see what games they have. Star Wars, Out Run, Badlands and Cosmic Monsters to name a few dedicated. Mostly arcade games, but a few pins as well. There's a upcoming Donkey Kong champ playing there, as well as the unofficially WR-holder in 1943. www.chassisarcade.dk / http://www.facebook.com/chassisarcade

Copenhagen Skatepark (http://copenhagenskatepark.dk/) has a generic arcade cabinet with a 60-1 (buuuh) and 4 pins: Theatre of magic, Lord of the rings, Corvette and Dr. Who.

Navnløs Bar (Nameless Bar) on Enghave Plads 6 in Copenhagen has a Pac Man cabinet, with a Ms Pac Man game inside (speed-up if I remember correct) and it's on freeplay. Down the road in another bar/cafe called Bang og Jensen, you'll find a Rolling Stones and Shrek pinball.

Sin City Arcade at Høkerboderne 18 in Copenhagen also has a generic cabinet with a 60-1 (buuuh again) and 4 pins: Funhouse, Tales of the arabian night, Champion Pub and World Cup Soccer. http://www.facebook.com/SinCityArcade

Pinball Park & Arcade (only open in weekends) in Roskilde - They open on the 26th of january! They will have a around 50 pinball and arcade machines (mostly pinball though). You pay 200DKR to come in, and you can play till you drop! 'Business' Area : Buy/Sell/Trade / FS: Non-working Centipede PCB. SOLD!
« on: December 02, 2012, 01:02:50 AM »
I bought a non-tested Centipede PCB a while back for 50 euros plus shipping, and it turned out to be totally dead. Instead of it just laying around, maybe someone would be interested in fixing it or using it for parts. So give me an offer if you are interested.

Arcade Lifestyle / First dedicated cab: Centipede
« on: October 26, 2011, 04:38:42 PM »
First of, I'm sorry for the crappy phone images, but it's all I've got.

But hi, my name is Thomas and I'm from Denmark! I've been lurking around the board for quite some time now, learning new stuff and just enjoy reading in here. Ever since I've tried a Centipede some years back, I told to my self, I need me one of these bad boys! Then I visited Muerto and really played the game, and I just got more sure. Since then I've been checking ebay etc for a Centipede, and finally I got lucky, and got in contact with a seller in Denmark that had one.

Oh yes, and one cold september day, I got ready for a roadtrip that was about 292 KM each way. As the rookie I am (only got 1 generic cab) I borrowed a trailer instead of a van, so the trip took just a little bit longer because of the speed-limits when driving with a trailer.

Leaving Aalborg:

As sad as it is, this is the only pic from the trip. As I was entering the city where the seller lives, my phone which I used for GPS (and photos), went dead. So with only the sellers first name and streetname, I was lost. But I got lucky, and when I was standing in the sellers street confused, some girl opened her window and asked if she could help. She kindly let me in her home, let me borrow her computer to check my mail and looking for the sellers adress. Off I went to the sellers house, talked a bit, loaded the cab and drove home again.

Called a friend of mine and told him to come over and help me get the cab in my apartment, and of course I have to live on the second floor. That won't stop me from getting a Centi, so we got it up there, and here it is:

The game works fine, but there is a problem with the PCB. Look at the 000's at the top of the game. They work like mushrooms when you play the game, and the highscore is scrambled because of them, any idea what causes the problem, please let me know. Oh yeah and I finally passed 100,000 mark :)

So that's my little story about my first dedicated cabinet. I hope I'll get better when the next cab is calling my name.  ;D

All the rest / Video Game Challenge Pilot Episode (1983)
« on: July 18, 2011, 09:11:28 PM »
If anyone remembers the short part in Chasing Ghosts, where Billy is talking about the Millipede competition between Ben Gold and Eric Ginner, and have not watched it yet, I recommend to do it. It was a cool show, too bad it did not make more episodes.

Ben Gold uploaded the pilot on youtube and write's this:
This was the pilot episode of the Video Game Challenge. While the series never took off, the interviews and discussions are nostalgic, especially when seeing how primitive the graphics were. Eric Ginner and I faced off in a Millipede competition.

All the rest / Hi from Denmark!
« on: September 14, 2010, 12:59:41 AM »
Hi, Thomas from Denmark here!

I got here thanks to Muerto, and so far I've been reading in here for around 6 hours! Great forum!

I don't have any dedicated cabs (yet) and I'm still pretty new to the arcade world. Been collection consoles for many years, and I first got the arcade fever half a year ago. I'm only 25, so I was not around when it peaked, and I grew up in a small town, and there wasn't that many arcades back then. But I do remember the danish Compugame machines with Neo Geo games, Bubble Bobble, Terminator, racing games and pinballs. And I grew up with the NES. I remember renting it at the local gas station in the weekends, because we couldn't afford one (or maybe we just couldn't buy it in my shitty little town at the beginning)

But enough rambling! I got two Compugame cabs a couple of months ago, both with 4 Slot Neo Geo, and so far I got 8 games. You have to start somewhere, right?  :D

If you read all this nonsense to the end, I salute you!  ;D
