Technical Area / Re: how to ... ""DIG" SHAPES INTO WOOD ???
« on: March 09, 2009, 12:03:21 AM »
Good technical term there....dig  :D

Are you talking about cutting a new coin door, basically a big hole in some wood? If you are you simply mark out the "hole" you want to cut. Drill through a corner of the outline then, using the hole just drilled, you can jigsaw (pendulum saw) the required shape out.

Galaxian Theater / Re: Galaxian³, playable on Sony PSP?

Yup, the PSP can play Playstation One games natively.

You can download official ones from the Sony PSP gamestore or use custom firmware and play the lot, although some games won't work properly. I went through and played FF VII all the way through on my PSP, it was great!

I went to Japan as part of my honeymoon in 2004. Beautiful country and one of the best places in the world I have ever visited. Total culture shock!

I was thinking as part of my portfolio I could recreate the final scene of Dragon' Lair completely in 3D.

Holy moly!!! That would be astounding. How long in gods name would that take to do?!?!!/

There a couple of names, depends on the type of surface you are drilling....

1. A centre punch, typically used for metal. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Punch_(engineering)
2. An awl or bradawl (beveled), typically used for wood. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Awl

Thought I'd run through it just to see how what the transition to joystick would be like.

Not too bad, I completed it on my first go, scored a measly 350k. I wasn't going for score though, was just running though to see if all the levels were ok, plus the dip switches were set to only allocate 120 seconds which make level 8 a bit of a challenge if you don't start it loaded up with ammo (I did but stupidly died half way through) ...

Some progress...

I managed to source a Rolling Thunder PCB with known sound problems. It arrived yesterday and was quite possibly the WORST packing ever for a PCB  . One sheet of bubble wrap that wasn't even wrapped round the board with the sound daughterboard just placed on top to rattle around during transit

I know the sound is faulty so decide to plug it in without the daughterboard attached. It gets further than my existing faulty board, cycling through the sprites on power up but resetting itself   :?

However, I can now successfully get into the self test mode..... Hmmmm. Ok, lets try attaching the daughterboard from my existing faulty board. The sound should work on that one. Here it is all attached

Ok.... lets give it a whirl. Fingers crossed...   :-\

YES YES YES!!!! IT WORKS!!!! The sounds also works perfectly.... Hurray  :spaceace: :spaceace: :spaceace:
