This is it, guys! After patiently waiting three interminable months, THE cabinet is finally arrived right away from Japan by container, to the seller's place in the Netherlands. The time has come for me to bring back that Japanese lady from Netherlands into my game room in Belgium. Oh, should I really have to name it? I'm sure you all know what game I'm talking about... DARIUSBURST EX / AN OTHER CHRONICLE!
Back in 2011, I had a crush on that cabinet/game after seeing many videos of the game play, reading so many positive reviews ... and technically, what a piece of hardware : double 16/9 screen 'a la Galaxian Theater', massive bass speaker inside the seat, 4 players... and a cabinet shape that kills everything around! At last, something 'modern' and really exciting is catching my interest! ...oh, and of course... its name : DARIUS !!! What a license! Taito, by this game, truly made a beautiful tribute to the Darius franchise by creating this new iteration of the game : deep game play, various modes, scoring & competitive playing, biggest 'end of level boss sprites' ever seen in a video game, hypnotic soundtrack (by Zuntata) & awesome sound effects, this modern shoot'em up has everything I love! :-*
I eventually had the opportunity to try it for the very first time during the Eurocade in September 2014, and as expected, it was love at first sight game! I also had to opportunity to buy that one during Eurocade, but it wasn't the right time for me.
And later, I got the opportunity to buy an other one, following an offer I couldn't resist. Deal done.
We are in September 2014... and all I've to do is to wait that beast to be imported from Japan by the seller.
It's now December 2014... it's Christmas time, and ... my long awaited gift has arrived!

Have tried it at EC14 but like all those modern shooters, its too busy for me ;D
I do have to agree with SuperUlly, the reading is difficult with the background, maybe change the color of the text on that page ?

Regarding the dedicated DariusburstEX website, I've used a template(initially done for an other purpose) done by a friend. It has be created in CSS / PHP. I've never worked with these languages so far!
So during these 4 last days (more than 12 hours per day :oops:), I had to learn these languages enough to :
- 'reverse engineering' the job done by my friend to understand how CSS & PHP work
- get enough knowledge of css & php languages to do something nice (I hope it is)
- figure out how to modify / tune the code to create what I have in my mind for this dedicated DariusburstEX website
- create all the graphic chart, taking pictures, photoshop...
- all these domain names, servers, host, url forward, dns, registars and other boring stuff...
- to write the road trip report
So there are still few bugs in the website, but I wanted to publish the road trip asap! :)
I will correct them in the coming days, be indulgent ;)
I can't tell you how I'm happy with this game. This time it's not a matter of 'collecting' a game, it's not a matter of restoring a game... it's a matter of PLAYING a game! And it's been a long time a new arcade game didn't catch my interest so strong!

Note that the seat on mine is the fully 'skinned 'DBACEX red one'.
Did you have the English manual by the way? Or the English description of the service mode menu? I'm trying to reset the high score for example...

3 rooms for a total of 140m2, external dimension, so a little bit less inside... but definitely enough for that new monster ;)

THIS. IS. INSANE.
I see that you bought it at Rklok storage hall, I already went there once to buy my Blast City, this guy really has cool machines, and puts nice bonus in his containers to fill the empty space.
When I saw that you bought it in Netherlands, I thought it was the one I had the chance to try when I went to the Psykick's storage place, where I bought another cab too. He lives near Rotterdam, and has a reaaaaally cool collection of cabs (owned by him and two friends), this was the first (and only) time that I could try this cab, and it made me a very strong impression, the sound, graphics and general experience were really a great moment in my gamer's life. This reminds me that I still have to relate this roadtrip ;)

Isent there any chance you could log on the the TAITO network, perhaps call them/write them? You bought the game fair and square, I imagine they would be quite thrilled to hear the game was operated in a private owned arcade.

I'm not sure, but as far as I understand it, the TAITO Nesys network is a private network that require a specific hardware to be connected, see :arrow:

Not sure this system could 'technically' work outside Japan, but also being connected to Taito should most probably require fees to pay to Taito. I doubt this 'versions update/online gaming option' service is provided free by Taito... :-\

I don't think they are owner of that 'connectivity stuff'. It's more like TAITO equipment rented by the game room operator, under a maintenance contract. And I bet that connectivity hardware can be used for other Taito games...

Damn, you should not have told me that they were selling it, I don't have place or money left, I really should build a bigger gameroom, but I am sure there is no gameroom big enough for us, it's just a question of time to fullfill them ;D

Just to clarify : at the end of EC2014, I clearly told you I didn't plan to buy you the game because few reasons (space, price and not sure to appreciate a such modern game at home after all). But I didn't ask you to hold the game for me or whatever. I didn't think about buying this game … until I eventually had an offer I can't refuse. :)

Strange, I've tested it on my iPad2 with no issue...and the site is 'especially tuned' for mobile device by the way. Which iPad version do you have?

It doesn't crash my iPad but the website does keep reloading all the time making it totally impossible to read.
Running iOS 8.1.2

To be more precise: the main page and the two right options work fine. However the left two pages open OK, but as soon as you start scrolling down the page will give a "page reloaded because of a problem" error and the page goes blank. Then it will open it again with the first pictures of that page and then the problem repeats when you scroll down. This happens at about the third picture.

Thanks for these precisions André, but I cannot reproduce the problem on the 2 iPad I own (mini +iPad2). What is your OS version?
I'll talk next week with 'the specialist' who helped me to setup this css/php website in order to fix it.
Oh, and while I'm here, did I already said this game is absolutely phenomenal!!! :-* :-* :-* I can't stop playing it everyday!!!

The attract mode instruction are in English, only the initial game selection menus are in Japanese and also the operator menu. Nothing important at all...
The export version (full English) may be available in few months.
I like Japanese in these modern shooters... it's a part of the charm! :) I'll stay with that language version for sure :-*

It's true it can be confusing when 4 'casual modern shooter' players are on the game. In that case it's more a fun competition for scoring! (like Galaxian3), and you don't really have time to really enjoy the beauty of the graphics, the effects, and the WONDERFUL Zuntata musics tracks :-* In this scenario you really don't care about the use of the credits to finish the levels...
When more 'experimented' players are on, it's time for cooperative strategies... especially because the different ships you can select are different in the use of the key weapon of the game : the use of the BURST! It's like Gauntlet... several characters with their own specific characteristics.
When played alone (which is my case 95% of the time), it's an incredible experience. Learning patterns, elaborate strategies to defeat bosses, finish the level with one credit, scoring... and enjoy the beauty of this game! :-*
Now that the Chronicle mode is unlocked, it's more than an arcade game, it's now a game with HUNDREDS of levels!!!
This DariusBurst EX is the best experience I ever had on 'modern' arcade game! I strongly recommend this cabinet! TAITO RULEZ! :-*

a digital download feels worthless to me, not only because i am selling physical media. everything about my hobby is missing here except the game. but even with the game i am in the hands of the publisher. i own nothing... i only have the right to play it.

Chara-Ani and Pyramid have released the debut trailer for Darius Burst: Chronicle Saviours at this year’s Tokyo Game Show.
The recently confirmed shoot-em-up game is coming to PlayStation 4, PS Vita, and PC in Japan as a download-only title.
While Darius Burst: Chronicle Saviours is releasing by the end of this year, only the PS Vita version is getting a physical retail edition.

Just too bad there's no physical release for PS4...anyway, I had to get it too, I wanna discover that dedicated 'Chronicle Saviours' specific to that home release version, even if it looks (at first sight ) very similar than the original 'Chronicle Mode' from the arcade version...

Don't get it for the PS4 - get it for the PC on Steam. It supports 2 screens and also has Darius Burst EX inside :spaceace: :spaceace: :spaceace:

Got my copy on Steam today, what an awesome game and so much replay value, there's a ton of modes and levels....it will make me want a cab again ;D
