Title: Bartop Scratch Build Project - 100% complete!
Post by: subzero1970 on December 19, 2014, 11:40:11 AM
so im going to make myself a mame bartop, so far I have most of the components except the MDF - i'll post my updates in here, however I have a couple of questions for anyone else that has made a bartop, how would I best hold the marquee and bezel glass on? I was thinking hotglue but that might be noticeable??

I would construct some kind of metal bracket for the marquee and bezel and maybe some small wood support beams to the side of the cab where the bezel can rest on or something like that.

that's a good idea, like an L shaped piece of metal cut to size?

arcadeforge.net (http://arcadeforge.net) is doing the best bartops kits in the world. Highly recommended.
Build with former arcade cabinet designers.

You can buy l shaped metal like this in Homebase subzero, and its easy to cut with a hacksaw.

are you sure you wanna go with those colours? of course it is a question of own taste... but orange, red, blue, yellow and brown/green is kind of a bold choice. :)

I dont like the LCD.
I don't like the joysticks (HATE bat-tops)
I don't like that it's 2 player on such a small control panel, impossible to play 2 player...unless you want to hug during playing...
I don't like 6 buttons per player
I don't like that you used different colors for the buttons, even per player
I don't like the chrome T-molding

But most of all I don't like your attitude towards a VERY contributing member of this forum, one which has been positively contributing to this thread too.

Or.....am I missing some irony here because all of this is just text only ?

If you post stuff here you get comments....positive and sometimes critical, if you can't accept that, don't post.

Just MHO of course.

I know subbie's reactions a bit longer than today, and there is a smiley behind it, so its all good.

It is nice though that people stick they're neck out, but Tyrem is right, i am a big boy, i think i will survive  ;)

A smiley means it's tongue in cheek. ..I didn't take any offence to what he said. People are entitled to their opinion. .. and my reply was a joke

I love it. It's the only kind of cab I'll ever be able to afford.

its not t-molding, its molding-the wood isn't thick enough for t-molding
