Title: THE ROADTRIP OF THE CENTURY REVEALED - LOOK FORWARD FOR HUNDRETS OF PICS
Post by: synonym9 on August 22, 2014, 09:52:49 PM

OK guys, you were very patient and I want to say thanks to all of you that helped me to decode the bad pictures I postet.
I had a meeting with Martin "Nilfisk" yesterday who gave me a short caoching for my visit today, also thanks a lot to you, Martin!

Time flies like nothing if you look for arcade machines, we all know that. The guy that was with me had to work in the eavening and the vendor hat an appointment, so after 3 hours was an end but I will add more pictures when I clear the venues.

I dont want to talk to long, you guys dont want to hear my bla bla bla, you want to see pictures speaking.....so off we go  ;)

The first game that crossed my way was that....it was terrible to see it like that and a cool image that will be cool on my wall as well:

I hope people that want an Atari DL/SA cab get one if they are available. I would have wanted one but I already have one, so it's best they go to someone that hasn't got one. Good luck everyone! Sounds to me after speaking to the OP that some cabs are available to the community.

The plans for that find are to arrange it that I can clear the entire stock.

I still dont know about prices but of course I will have to sell many things to raise my budget, after all we don´t talk about 3 games and 4 pins.

Especially pinball-wise there are many many models still in the dark....

It is important that you send me your inquiries as soon as possible, that way I can tell the vendor some results next weeks.....which is very important.

Prices, what can I tell you about prices. Of course I would like to make it very affordable for you guys.

The point is that I do not make business here, I only try to collect the money to buy all games, so I am forced to sell it for the highest bid or I trade against something I am really after.

The story behind that find is something for a later point, I am sure this will be a long lasting thread.

I am from Vienna/Austria, so for international buyers it would be clever to look for more pieces to make a deal with sense.

I will try to clean and test games as good as I can to make the deals transparent, I have to check how cooperative the vendor is but I think he is a great guy.

I think I will start with the Midway-machines.

From what I recall we have

2-3 MK´s
2-3 MK3´s
2 KI2´s
1 KI (but could be more as well)
2 Wrestlemania´s

Artwork seems to be quite good, but I am not positive on that....we will se it when I pull them out.

Also the Taito S.C.I´s look great. Since I own one myself I can give them away but with the promise that the artworks will be scanned and vectorized since the artwork on my on is cutted off halfways.

I would love if someone feels some love for the Hang-On cabaret. I have a Hang-On in the restoration-process myself and even now that I have found many classics I would´nt ever get rid of it, it is just such an awesome game that still makes tons of fun and the speed feels very fast.

As for the 2 Asteroids, I just saw (in one of my videos that they are already converted to something useless).

After a short conversation with Martin (Nilfisk) it seems like vektor-monitors cannot display raster-graphiks (tell me if we are wrong), so there might be no vektor-displays in them...but it would be still a shame to trash them....I never trash anything arcade-related.

If you tell me how they are to detect I look if I can find them laying arround there.

Same for the Bezerk, but that is a smaller problem, right?

Speeking of videos, I thought you guys would like to see that place in a more living way (also see the Berzerk-drama)

i would really love to have a space ace so if you could try to find out what the seller wants for it... please let me know, ok?
i would also love to have the asteroids deluxe... i don´t care about the screen. we can fix that.

I dont see a problem with the trade, I just have to invest time and also money as the vendor is not that close to me, so visiting him costs money every time.

Everything need to go, the buildings will be teared down in arround a year.
The Deluxe is none of the converted ones, there are 2 first gen Asteroids.

The Deluxe is not for sale....

Guys, the mail-programm via the forum is useless if you get so much inquiries. Please contact me by

hannes.slanec@gmail.com

or/and add me on Facebook by Hannes Slanec

I can not organize the sale with the forums-mail programm, send me your lists of desired games, what you would be ready to trade and an offer.
Please, understand that I dont say prices, I prefer to get offers.

I can 100% guarantee the Space Ace machines will be broken.

The laserdisc players were unreliable and had a design fault where the mirrors that angled the laser fell off.

This is very possible.

I wanted to sell the games without to test them as I dont participate on the deal, I just want to help the seller to get rid of all the stuff so nothing get trashed.

Now I changed my opinion since the the members in the DL are nicer than in other forums....also I dont want to have any issues after the deal....the vendor as well got no nervs for problems later.

Is it possible that nobody feels some love for the fullsized Hang-On bike?  :-\

Anunaki:

I drove to a vendor today that I visited over a year ago as I recalled that he had some Midway stuff too.

I ended up with the following stuff for sale (for prices I have to ask, he could´nt tell me prices to all of the machines):

MK

KI

Midway Off-Road Challange sit down

Daytona USA twin

Gottlieb Hot Shots (pin)

Gottlieb Pinball Pool (pin)

Bally Corvette (pin)

Lucky seven (pin)

Police Force (pin)

Williams Hurricane (pin)

Bally Flash Gordon (pin)

Zaccaria Devil Riders (pin)

Captain Hook (pin)

He got a lot more pins but I did not have too much time and I was there because of your Midway stuff, so I think I can reserve the Midway line up for you and for the case another member want one I have a backup...or you convert the other ones to MK2 MK4 and so on.....thats up to you.

I saw that thread....I am a fan. Is also the game another one...? Does it run Super Hang-On maybe???

When I saw the blue one the first time I thought I go crazy!!!

Is it already restored or do you use it the way it is.....please, share the link again.

Could you make me some 1080p videos of that darling running.....I need that come over the time until I reactivate it  ;D

I'm still restoring it but no time, first i preparing the SCI for eurocade then i go further with the limited hang on

It's the same gameplay as super hang on but with more tracks

My biggest problem is that there is no sound, the pcb is really bad and i think there are some electrical traces gone, and the monitor is gone too so i need a monitor

In time i will add some pictures, i made a lot of them

when the limited hang on works you are very welkom to play it

Guys, as for the sale:

I told you to send me emails instead of PM´s which works a lot better.

I am very sorry if I did´nt respond, I just get tooo many inquiries but I accept everybody. So if I did not answer yet its nothing personally, I just missed it.

In this case please send me another email.

Note:

Always send a clear list of what you like and your offfer, there are more games left than you might think.

Take the time to go through the entire thread and try to see every single game, maybe its yours in some weeks.

Please, no "maybe I take more / this and that, depending on the price".

I could work like that if I would offer 3-5 games....at an amount as we have here its not possible to create prices for every single game, just make list with offers.

Just as hint (I stated that in many mails I have sent):

The vendor is not very close to me, so going to him to pick games/driving back is not that easy....and it is pricy, so guys that take more than one cabinet have the better chance.

Since I dont make profit on it I not going to spend years of selling this stuff, so the more you take at once the better your chance.

just my two cents on this... but if you would have prices for them it would make everything for anybody much easier. of course it is more work before the selling/offering-process... but nobody would be trapped in the dark.
me for example... I have no idea how many people are after the Space Aces and I have no idea if and what prices have been flying around... which is quite a killer for me for the deal.

I told anybody that I have to go back to bring the machines out in the light to make hi-res-images and to test if they work.

I think I said so in the thread but in any case via email to all the people who wrote me.

You already told me in your second mail that you are not interested, that might be the reason why you did´nt have this information.

Everything runs great and I have very good conversations with the members in our mail correspondence, so no problem at that point.

Aaaaaaaaaarrrrggghhh, there goes my exclusivity on the Jap Namco Galaxian !! ;););)

Seriously: I am very happy you found one, the more the better :)

Also: maybe we can share on buying the 15mm. t-mold (if yours needs it). Work on the buttons and bezel,is also on the way....I wonder how your bezel will look once the dirt is cleaned up :)

The fire button on yours is not the right one, needs to be a yellow one. On first look it is much alike the "regular" US buttons but at closer look they are different, but I would just get a yellow US style button, your never going to find a new original Jap shape one.

Amazing thread, love it ! still interested in the jukebox depending on price.

Sir, we can do everyting together, thats why I visit the forum.
The first thing we do is Solidworks-model of the buttons.

As or the button, I go into that when all that exhausting dealing/trading is done and the stuff is in the storage.

Jukebox:

Like always, send me an offer and I will forward it to the vendor, I dont have a price for every single machine but I get quotes for them.

Seems i was semi-right about this being an NSM license build. Same sideart, different marquee. But I am still absolutely positive I have seen this type before.

That one IS a bootleg.

so, I understand Tac Scan is not for sale. Too bad, I hope it will work for you but please read a lot about the G08 monitor inside, it is famous for catching fire. I will always be glad to buy it from whoever has it later on should he change his mind.

May I suggest the following: make a list on the first posting of this thread what is and what is not for sale, this saves you a lot of unneccesary mails and messages and us false hope for a dream-machine....

I told anybody that I have to go back to bring the machines out in the light to make hi-res-images and to test if they work.

I think I said so in the thread but in any case via email to all the people who wrote me.

You already told me in your second mail that you are not interested, that might be the reason why you did´nt have this information.

Everything runs great and I have very good conversations with the members in our mail correspondence, so no problem at that point.

yeah, i had no interest under those conditions cause this would be like blind bidding.
thanks for explaining the situation and good luck with the sale. i am officially out. so go guys.. get those space aces. :)

Blind bidding???

Please, read my postings.....

As for the games that are not for sale:

A list does not work as I stated multiple times that Galaxian is not for sale but still I get at least 10 mails a day with the question if it is for sale.

But I do it another time, here are the games that are NOT for sale by all means:

Asteroids Deluxe

Atari System 1 / Indiana Jones - Temple of doom

Namco Galaxian

SEGA Tac/Scan

SEGA Afterburner

SEGA Hang-On ride on bike

SEGA Enduro Racer

Stern Berzerk

SEGA Space Harrier

Universal Cosmic Alien

One of the Space Invaders Clone (but did´nt decide which one yet)

Olympia Portraits

Puckman

Gremlin Head On

i did. serveral times. that´s why i am not interested. how do i know who i am up against when it comes down to prices?
don´t get me wrong. if everything is going along as smooth as you tell then everything is good. it is just not my cup of tea to make an offer.
i do understand your situation but in the case of the cabs that i would like to have I´d rather take an offer than make one... If this means that i have to wait... no problem for me.

To be completely honest, I tend to agree with Tyrem.

We have very little information about the machines, no inside pictures. From the looks of a lot of them, they have been converted (Berzerk f.i., even though it's not for sale).

Having the original board-sets and monitor in the machines makes a Huge difference in value.

Yes. I agree too. Anyhow depends on the prices. I can offer some money with a cabinet with no idea what I could find inside it, but we are talking about really few amounts.

Years ago I bought a not working cab. The seller told me that needed an "easy fix" and in the end the board was missing... After all he was right, if I had the board it would be an easy  fix...

the size of this is the real problem. we are talking about tons of games... with the most desirable cabs not even for sale except the space aces (at least for me). :)
you need to know what you are doing here, otherwise this will end in tragedy.

i would have prefered fixed prices for the cabs. first come, first serve. just like we did it with the container deals.
the last thing that i want to see is that most of the cabs will stay where they are and getting trashed in the end because they will not find a new home. that would break my heart.

would it not be an option for you, syno, to buy everything and to offer it to the community? i am not quite sure why you mention all the time that you are not going to make any profit. nothing bad about that after all you had the luck to discover this place. this is a hell of a lot of work and you deserve something in return for sure. i think we all agree.

this dlf-community is amazing. we all are here to help each other and the support that i have experienced during the past years is just incredible. we all would like to help you save all the cabs in the best possible way. but i can tell you.. either way this is going to be hard work. and you really need to know what you are selling there. not only the names but the conditions and the parts in the cabs. i do have my doubts when it comes down to this.

Yes I see little problem in making a reasonable profit on that deal. My profit from the Belgian warehouse deal was one free Berzerk. I think that was fair for finding the stuff and mostly dragging them out of the warehouse and shipping them to my place (had to pay some transport costs too).Yet, the Centipedes, Berzerks and the Armor Attack were sold for very reasonable prices. (All the buyers are still talking to me at least, LOL).

but I can also see Syno's point. If he forks up all the money upfront he takes a lot of risk. Many cabs won't be sold or for very low prices (the generic one's). Apart from that, not everybody can upfront such an amount, I sure couldn't. AND how to move and store all those cabs until "distributed".... All those issues made me do the "group buy action" later at that Belgian warehouse....I didn't earn a penny from that but I just wanted as many as games possible saved....

However, Austria is not around the corner for most of us..

All in all I can understand all sides....I really hope Syno will find a way :)

A lot depends on the context. I see a building filled with dusty cabs that needs to be emptied. i think in general it's in the seller's interest to sell all at once. so maybe you can get a real good deal and I mean really good

But I don't know the context

Is it REALLY that hard to read???:

I told anybody that I have to go back to bring the machines out in the light to make hi-res-images and to test if they work.

Some members here act like I would make a jumble sale....I just picked 2 games and both are not for sale, more to come next time, so why should YOU have inside pictures when not even I have seen how they look inside??? Hell, I did not even really start pulling games out, so screw down you postulations.

Hell I even have to justify the conditions of the Berzerk although it is not even for sale.

Tyrem, to clear things here:

The problem YOU have is that you wanted me to make you an offer to make sure that you not going to pay one cent more than the smallest sum I would accept and when I told you that I (of course) try to get the best price you said:

...wir würden uns nur gegenseitig den preis in die höhe treiben. ist zwar schade, aber ich lasse dann lieber die finger davon....

Means: We only would bid against one another in the forum which would push the price up...so I keep my hands off of it.

Since that very day you try to make a bad mood against me and the find.

I am not going to explain it one more time, the serious guys have email-contact with me and wait for my mails with further pictures and informations about the conditions of there games.
I keep my agreemenst with them and I will try my best to answer all questions and to make the deal as transparet as possible....as for the other guys who does not even have commitment from me, stop you demands!

And btw, I did not ask anybody to purchase from me, in the minute I posted the images people tried to convince me to sell games and now suddenly I have to exculpate myself for the way I handle the clearing.

I am not interested in your criticsm like: "I tend to agree with Tyrem, I tend to agree with Tyrem...." You can agree with Tyrem all day long....but I dont care! I dont need anything from you or the other guys that think I have a responsability to them.

I have contact with a handful very serious members who dont bother me every day. I have the agreement with them that I go back, bring the machines out in the light, clean them a bit, photography them and test if they work, and they are ok with that.

Since you mean I do someting wrong or reprehensable I will stop answering to requests, I keep my word to the guys I have agreements with and just go on just posting pictures of the clearing.

I stop justifying for the work I do and continue to report about the clearing:

The Galaxian went home with me today, some friends came with me and I was able to make around 800€ profit for the seller.

My friend Thomas has bought a very cool Wurlitzer Cigarette-automat, some kind of old slot-machines, a small carousel-motocycle and other atique goods.

Martin took 2 old cocktail tables, one that looks like an poker-machine (buttons only) and a very very nice Phönix cocktail.

We cleaned the Phönix 2 hours long, installed power cord, plugged it in and.....

in worked flawlessly.

I do not have even one game that is in such a nice shape.
Monitor is crisp and clear, the cabinet looks almost like new, the sticks are firm and the buttons looks almost unused....it really makes me a bit jelous that I dont have such a perfect game.

Only negative point is that the image is a bit off-center but I could not find the pots to correct it.

Its cool to buy games from the original purchaser, now cutted wires, now nothing, it just looks the way they sold it 34 years ago, only dust - nothing else.

I have a Puckman-cocktail that lost a leg when we transportet it, it just broke out of the particle wood.

Due to that accident I decided to put it on the carpet without the legs what was looking very cool. Yesterday Martin said if he ever would get a table he would like to do the same and since the chrom of the legs were really bad and rusty we unscrewed the legs, preserved it with stretch-foil and stored it for later.

Martin was very satisfied with his new couch-table.

boy... i really don´t like the way you act. you should consider anger management. really. and i find it hard to believe that you make a personal mail from me to you public allthough there is nothing in it to be afraid or ashamed of. not a good style.

well... okay, here is my concern and i tell it right in your face: i have a problem with the blind bidding. it is blind bidding and there is no doubt about that. i talked to quite a few members of this board and yesterday i also talked to some members of a board that you once were a member of after i was contacted about you. we all felt the same about the fact that we would prefer prices instead of offers. i am not going into details why I do so... but there are several reasons for this.

i wished you luck serveral times. i had nothing against you but much more important for me is that those cabs and the parts will be saved. i did not know you before this thread startet. i was up all night to see all the pics come in when you posted them. i was disappointed that the selling process is not public and transparent. yeah... blame me for that. i have no problem with it. but deal with the critics instead of getting mad, blaming people and making private stuff public. you know best that this can backfire on you considering your past in other german boards.

and that´s all i am going to say for now. sorry for getting offtopic here, guys. you know how much i love this community.

greetings!

i have a problem with the blind bidding

I not going to talk about it anylonger, I never made you an offer to buy anything, you came in touch with me. I never said that I sell a Space Ace but you asked if you can have one so why do you think you have rights to claim for?

i talked to quite a few members of this board and yesterday i also talked to some members of a board that you once were a member of after i was contacted about you. we all felt the same about the fact that we would prefer prices instead of offers.

So now you start a secret plot behind my back with other members? Do you guys think that this is the right way to come by the stuff?

Tyrem, I dont care what you or anybody else prefer, really - i dont care.

I drove 1000 of km on all that weekends when other people was sitting in there warm homes and watched movies or sports in the television.
I paid for the gas, I took the time sitting hour for hour in the car and tried to find anything....and most of the time I did find only slotmachines or stuff we are not after.

Why do you (and the other guys you try to instigate) think I have act the way YOU prefer?

I have been blamed from a member in that thread that "most of the games are not even for sale"...

I am sorry, I am really really sorry that I dont eat all the work, invest the time and spend the money and than I dont want to give all the games to you....I am really sorry.

Did it ever come in you mind that I make the roadtrips for me, and not for you?

What I do not really need I can share with the community, but I also have no problem to keep the stuff.

If I make a price, ask for offers, sell it locally, give it to my fellow-collectors or put it on eBay IS MY DECISION, and I dont ask for your permission.

Since two days you say that you are out of it but what you do is to post stupid and untrue comments (with the intention to make a bad mood against me), and contacting other members to make undercover agreements.

Your motto is now "If I dont get the Space Ace for cheap, nobody else should get it"!

OK, here is what you wanted to achieve:

Since Tyrem says the way I act is not correct and since he says other members confirm that I dont sell games anymore.

I see no reason to fight only because I found some games.

I keep my word to the members I have agreements too and keep the rest, I was´nt really intended to sell them but thought I can let some games go...but I am not in the need.

So I hope the problems are solved now  :)

PS: Thanks for the hint, Tyrem. I was wondering why I suddenly have emails from members from Arcadezentrum (the board I had problems with some members, and just for your info, I am not the only guy who had problems there ;) )
Now I understand what they want but you can tell your frieds that no games for sale anymore, especially not for them.

what an utter pile of bullshit. maybe other members will step up now but i talked to three people about you via pm and some of them wrote me... people that i respect a lot, people that i know in person.
you asked the guys here to come up with offers for the games. you asked for quite a lot of help in advance, too. no problem with all of that. after all this it what makes DLF so special. members (not me) contacted other members because of your trackrecord in the Arcadezentrum.de. you made a true impact there for sure. i could have made your thread there public. i did not. it was not my intend to harm you. it was not my intend to kill your deals.

i wished you luck with the sale from the beginning and i was honest about that. people know me here and people know my record. i am allways here to help. i did that in the past, i will do it any time anybody asks me to. and i got loooots of help from the other members. somehow we are relaxed and friendly. much more than in any other arcade-community that i have seen so far.

i don´t think i have to explain anybody here who i am and who i am in real life... except you who wanted to understand me wrong in every single post i made. i did not like the fact that you made my mail public allthough there was nothing bad in it. it says the same that i was saying public here. but it is bullshit to blame me now and to let others suffer for that. you have a problem with me? ok... fair enough... then tell it to me and don´t make it a public issue. this is way to much drama-queen for me.

to the one who get´s the space ace! congratulations. from the bottom of my heart. i am happy for every saved cab and those who know me know that i am telling the truth.

Do I need to say that I am not interested in the Rock-ola anymore ? I guess not.

About what _I_ said here:

I suggested you made a list of what games were NOT for sale, which you did. This made it a lot easier for you and for us.

I also said I tended to agree with Tyrem that blind bidding is not the way I prefer to deal with this.

You are now saying you did not have the chance to make good quality and inside pictures (which is reasonable enough) but you sure DID ask to make offers already !!!

Again, how can someone make a reasonable offer without the missing information about the cabs. So you found a complete cocktail, hurray, but it says -nothing- about the other cabs. The Berzerk makes it clear that it is not unlikely other cabs HAVE been converted.

We cannot know if it is you or the seller making the money....from what I understand about what you say about the Galaxian _you_ managed to _earn_ 800 Euro's profit for the SELLER for that machine and act as if _we_ should be happy about that. It is also very hard to believe.

IMHO, if you would act in the spirit of this forum, you would try to get a price that is as _low_ as possible for the members here. AS I MENTIONED BEFORE, I have absolutely no problem if you would gain a fair profit on this. The seller of the cabs should be happy too of course, but not by managing the best price for HIM....

The bottom line is: you found those cabs, you manage it the way you think is right and it is up to everyone if they like it or not.
They _ARE_ allowed to say that here though, it's a forum, not ebay.

I don't know the history from other (german) forums, but I know that some people here like to speak their mind and Tyrem is one of them.

That's pretty normal on a forum I think and there is no need to get all personal about it. A lot of people over here know eachother and have met in person in the past. That doesn't mean we're teaming up against you or something like that.

Of course you decide how you want to handle your business, but others can and will have an opinion about it. Some things weren't clear from the beginning I guess. So people give their 2 cents

No need for a big drama IMHO....

Jesus. I never wanted to state this but I was already guessing when things go wrong here. Anyway. I was mod in the other forum "Arcadezentrum.de" when synonym9 was kicked. Actually I kicked him myself after insulting my mother and the circumstances of my birth and some kind of dog involved in the process (although my mother has a very hard allergic to dogs ;)). It was quite the same procedure than here. Things went out of control pretty fast and then words like "Würschtelwärmer", "Oarschforum" and "Nix könnt's ihr." came delivered from austria to my place for free. So that's the whole story behind it ...

BUT I INSIST ON THIS: THAT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS THREAD OR THE DEAL AND IS JUST AN EXPLANATION TO PART OF THE SITUATION!!! Maybe it's just a little misunderstanding or he had just a little weak moment. So if everybody calms down maybe we can save a few cabs here. Congrats to the find!! I'm not very jealous because it will be hell to sell and/or restaurate all that stuff but in a few months when the gems are polished you will be a very happy man with that great cabs!!

And I am with the Punkrock Cavemen....all that goes to far and is to heated up.

Things get misinterpreted all the time and I am tired to explain everything 20times like blind bidding and other stuff like I made 800€ profit for the vendor for the Galaxian.

I really wonder how can somebody who can read can misinterpret my words in such a crazy way.

What I was saying is that I made 800€ profit for him for

Cigarette-Machines
a Carusel-Motobicycle
a slot-machine

and things like that, no game was involved.

I really cant remember me saying I made 800€ profit for the Galaxian, and it is twice as illogical when we remember that I stated the Galaxian is not for sale.

But I guess people like to read words totally wrong if it helps them to.

For the blind bidding, I really dont go into that anymore, the guys that buy from me and me have an agreement and for the rest of the stuff I just stopped the sale on the forum as I think games should bring light and pleasure in our life and not fights.

I would need decades to explain and to justify all the things that get misinterpreted (on purpose or by accident) which would never make anyting better.

If I say A, the opponets say B, if I justify with C, D, and E, the would misinterpret with F, G, H, I, J, and K, which would inevitably lead to the same nuclear-bomb as in the Arcadezentrum.....

Its now up to you if you are interested in more pictures of the clearing.

If so I would be very pleased if you like me to share them......but I not going to talk about blind-bidding, profit of goods or the sale in general....

For the case that you choose that we continue that thread I keep more pictures and maybe videos from yesterday :)

i really don´t want this to escalade even further but here is a good example. you wrote this:

"The Galaxian went home with me today, some friends came with me and I was able to make around 800€ profit for the seller."

For me (and I am pretty sure for others too) this souds like you made 800 Euro profit for the seller with the Galaxian.

As i mentioned a few times before it is completely allright to make money for all the work but it is somehow frustrating that you mention over and over again that we are not able to read.
that´s simply not true. we are reading... your writing is the problem. how comes so many people are getting the wrong impression? is it because of us or because of you? just take a deep breath and think about it.
same in the arcadezentrum two years ago. you started accusing people in a very rude way. it is all about friendship, giving a helping hand and the right manners here.

This is the Road Trip of the Century >>>>> https://www.dragonslairfans.com/smfor/index.php?topic=3346.0

IMHO

I am just about to read the story as I have heared a lot about it.

I dont make a competition though, posting like yours only have one purpose, to plant the seet for new fights, so I dont go into it and look forward for the great story.

Competition is someting for soccer-fans, which is none of my hobbies.

I did not see one single game so far and I am already fascinated as I love such places.

I am sure the guys needed elbows for that clearing.....cant wait to continue reading  ;D

Yes, and by taking lines out of the context you try to let me look bad.
With a bit of common sense nobody can understand that lines the way you do, sorry to say.

Exactly now it starts going in the direction it went the arcade forum, the germans now team up and post insultive stuff while telling me I am a trouble maker when I defend my self or make a counter strike later (everybody gets angry at a certain point if you insult him or his nationality, thats normal).

i have no idea where this pic comes from. might have been from the arcadezentrum-thread but i do not remember.
please... don´t make a national thing out of this. you will not win anything with this strategy. trust me... i was part of the football-thread... germany against holland. we were outnumbered, we had no chance... still it was great fun. :)

the pic is not necessary. your behavior has nothing to do with the country you come from.

I am not trying to make you look bad, I wanted to indicate why I thought you made 800 Euro for the seller on the Galaxian....

I understand there is a language barrier here, but you must admit that that line is not totally clear.

Very intellligent posting, really.

I was visiting my friend in a club where the guys from the Austrian-living Netherlands make party.
It was the time when the world-championship of soccer 2014 was and the place had an open air public-viewing and hundrets of guys from the netherlends were there....and Austrians in the middle of them. When I found my friend I asked him what he is doing there as I know that he is not a soccer fan and since neither Austria nor the Netherlands was playing I did not get why so many people were there watching the game.

So why are all those Netherlands and Austrians doing there and he said, what do you think, we want to see the germans loose as everybody know many people in the world hate germans but the most the Austrians and Netherlands ..... and the people in Spain where all the germans go in the holidays.

I said I dont like the idea as we speak the same language and all of us are humans, but more and more I start to see ther points when I read posting like that when I experience the teaming-up against others while enjoying immunity what ever insultive containt they post.

Since I dont like it to end like in the Arcade-Zentrum I go out of that thread. I like the DLF as many nice people are here so I let that thread become what ever it will become and go out here.

We see us in other threads ;)

Level42, let us end this, there is no reason to fight since I ended the sale, so we all can be friends again.

I dont remember if it was you (sorry but just to much mails at the moment) but we wanted to participate on the Galaxian restaurations and wanted to order green T-Molding.

I nice idea and I suggest to let flow our both energy in that project.
I dont have much pictures but I made a quite good all arround video, if you like I send it to you, then you can check the condition....but it seems to be a lot of work, the screen-glas is some kind of bent upwards...no idea what that means or how that happened.

there is no such thing here, man. you are making this up. the picture was made from a word you used in the old thread if i do remember this right.
my best buddy is part austrian. i grew up with an international bunch of friends making games and demos on Atari ST back in the late 80s, early 90s. this is not a national thing except that language can become a huge problem if you use it the wrong way... which is clearly the case here.

you could deal with it in a grown up, adult way or in a childish way. if i got things wrong... i am sorry. no problem for me to admit. and it should not be a problem for you either.

You guys can make a list of what procedures should be performed before I boot them up for the first time after 3 decades.

My ride-on Hang-On has "tape switches" inside both footrests.  Not all ROM sets support them though (e.g. the upright version doesn't show the foot switch inputs on the test menu).

It cant due to the lack of footrests, I have a sitdown, a smaller version of the upright too but is still under construction.

What does the footrest-switched? How to use them?

Gentlemen, seriously....we are not in the kindergarden here....at least I thought so. But this is getting ridiculous.

Things have gone wrong in the past, don't let them go wrong again.
There is no sense in accusing each other again and again.

My suggestion in this case is (just to make sure that as many machines as possible will be saved from being dumped):
everybody calms down, no more offense from and to either direction
synonym pulls out the cabs
he takes photos to show the condition of the cabs and if they're complete (like Level42 said it doesn't make much sense to make an offer on a specific cab if you know almost nothing about it)
people can make their offer.

In the end I hope that many machines will find a new good home.

Hmmmm. Maybe he took the cabs that are very rare and (at least) from a collectors point of view more valuable: Tempest, Star Wars, (Nintendo) DK, Space Duel, Gravitar ............... Most of the Sega titles are less rare and many collectors already have a certain amount of "medicore" titles from the later 80s or 90s. Then all the cabs pictured are at least very very dirty and some seem to be modified or not complete. A Bezerk with a hacked panel i.e. is very bad. No chance to get a boardset and original panel with controls for that and you can bet that the wiring and transformers and stuff is badly hacked to get another pcb running. There is a good chance that that guy really picked the best pieces already...

Sounds it was a guy like me. I would pick the "grails" and leave the interactive movie machines behind for those who love them ;););)

Getting that Berzerk back to life is not impossible. Get a Jrok Berzerk/Frenzy board, Jamma PSU and harness, and try to find one of the repro panels from some years ago....(see, I KNEW I should have kept the old one). Use a Nice red ball joystick and you're almost done... ;D

Not necesserilly, a Nintendo DK, Space Duel, Gravitar or Tempest are not really rare games, while the Galaxian and the Portraits really are.
Also the Tac/Scan is a rathre rare game.

Use a Nice red ball joystick and you're almost done... ;D

I agree....

I already have a stick and the buttons seems to be standard, I would´nt hesitate to run Berzerk on MAME before I leave the machine back for the landfill.....

Once I dig through the parts I might find some missing stuff....most mechanics wrote the name of the game on the PCB....and there are boxes full with PCB´s

Generally I would like to stop that bad mood-making of some guys here, there are DOZENS of machines and only 3 of them are converted

2 Asteroids and
1 Berzerk

so why to assume that 9 out of 10 machines are hacked???

The Berzerk WILL join my collection, no matter what....and if it is with a MAME-setup, its better then to dump it.

But there is a feeling that tells me that I going to find the PCB....and some others too.....

I never ment to make a bad mood. I just tend to be realistic and I just speak on ten years of arcade collecting and more than 40 machines in stock in different states of restauration. It's hell. Really. Any hacked cab, project cab or otherwise badly non working cab that needs serious restauration is a very expensive and time consuming bastard. That's a fact. Havings dozends of them (and you must admit, none of the cabs pictured is likely anywhere near a "quite ok" state) would kill me. :D

None the less it's kinda fun to restaurate a cab of course and the moments the little rascals are running for the first time again after their long sleep in the dark are priceless. So I keep my fingers crossed that you will manage this rescue mission. But keep in mind to quit the job soon and work in parallel on that flux capacitor to travel back in time and warn your younger ego to maybe not buy all the machines when it comes to an end and too many cabs keep unrestaurated in your storage in the far future. ;)

I understand what PRC says, it's the story of my life :)

My progress on restorations is..........close to none existant ;) And I have only a handful of them to do.....

But others are surely faster.

About finding PCBs: Remember Berzerk has 7 of them :)

..........and you must admit, none of the cabs pictured is likely anywhere near a "quite ok" state..... :D

At that point I do not admit at all....

The Portraits does look, the dirt and some splashers of wall point - which removes easily - aside, absolutely great.
And so are the

Asteroids Delxue
Tac/Scan
Afterburner
Indiana Jones
Hang-On Cabaret
SEGA Rally
Virtua Fighter
Assault
the 2 S.C.I.´s
Some of the Midway Cabs
the 4 Laser Disc-Games
and the 2 Space Invaders-clones

and thats only the ones I recall at the moment.

But I have to say that it is also always a question of what do I expect to find (and my first cab was such a pot of garbage that everything I found after it was a beauty) and what do I understand by restoration.
I saw guys with ripped Artwork who just took some Eddings and recreated the missing areas....thats not what I understand by restoration.

I am really a perfectionist as I am a passionated home-worker and I enjoy restoring old things.

I really have to admit, PunkRockCaveman, that restoring a cabinet CAN end up expensive....my Hang-On for example is the most horrible fucked-up arcade machine I ever came accross (it is the certain one I refered to as my first cab) and only a shadow of what it was back in the day.

As for a rule I say, restoration can become expensive as soon as you deal with special controls rather than with usual sticks and buttons.

Since I wanted to have my Hang-On looking brand new (which is exactly the opposite from what it was when I picked it) I took some months to find every single piece I needed as N.O.S.-part or in mint condition....which happened, but I have around 400€ in N.O.S.-Parts so far and still miss the brake-lever and needs to buy a pair of grips.

I dont drink and smoke, so spending some money in parts is ok :)

Also the sideart needs to be printed, so all in all that cab will end up pretty expensive and I am aware that many guys of you would say that Hang-On does not worth that kind of effort, but it does for me.

I started another cab at the same moment and I spent nearly nothing so far.....so every cab is different in restauration but I prepare my self for the SEGA simulator-line up I pick there like the

Enduro Racer (which will be the biggest pain in the ass as it got the most moving non-standard-parts)
The Hang-On ride on bike and the
Afterburner

All in all its also a question in how good you are at work, how much experience you have and how fast you are.
Compared with what I restored or build in my live, a wooden cabinet is just a joke.

If you ever have worked on an american classic car you know what I mean, you cannot even work alone as for nearly every piece you need two or three guys giving there helping hands.

While you can easily remove a door from a VW Golf by yourself you better dont try this on a mid 70´s fullsizer like an Electra or a Caprice/Impala..same for the bonnet, windshield, bumpers and what you have, we have´nt spoken here about things like a TH350 or even 400 transmission yet and for sure not about a V8!

Something like the Berzerk does not keep me from sleeping at night as if the PCB-search turns out as a nightmare I run a PC and its ok for me....and I think every serious arcade machine lover would aggree with M.A.M.E.-ing over dumping, right?

Lev´, I would guess that your progress is stagnating due to the fact that you have many other thing else to do, right?

Its always up to what pressure you have.

A small example, for a short time i worked with a guy who restored flats with water damages and other problems.
When I compare what performance I was forced to bring there in a single day and what the average homeworker does in one day....its not even compareable.

So if you do that as your hobby and you maybe have a family with children and even other hobbies of course the progress of your restorations is slower than it could be....but it is ok for you they way it is, right?

Same here, no real progress in the Hang-On for quite half a year, but if I would like to finish I could have it done within a week after the ordered parts arrived.

The finding of the parts costed me a lot of time and I still have to design something to get rid of that bloody steering-play.
Even if I would replace the part that is the problem it would´nt last long as there is a construction mis-design in the steering-mechanism of the Hang-On/Enduro Racer...but all in all its a great mechanism, very well designed (except that one problem).

For the Hang-On Bike and the Enduro Racer I will order all the parts at once, and I will even add the button for the Afterburner.

This could be another solution for the Berzerk-problem.....

http://www.jrok.com/

in any case, I am not going to leave one game back for the landfill....

What I dont undertand is that the site says the aftermarket-board replaces the 5 original boards while you say we rather talk about 7.... but I saw a video and it seems to work even sound-wise

Title: Re: THE ROADTRIP OF THE CENTURY REVEALED - LOOK FORWARD FOR HUNDRETS OF PICS
Post by: level42 on September 04, 2014, 12:04:42 AM
I can distinguish between the real hardware and the Jrok board within one second.

Not saying it's not a good board, quite the opposite, I use his Williams board and love it. It's a great alternative and I would never run a PC in a cab, I don't want to wait for 20 seconds for such a machine to boot, give bootscreens etc.

JROK's board run original processors. It's not emulation. Only the sound is emulation.

I am still waiting for his Mylstar board, even though I have a real Q*bert board-set now.

The Berzerk board-set is like that for a couple of reasons:
1) Stern was (IS !) a pinball manufacturer and they were "used to" a set-up like this
2) Berzerk went through several fases. First they used another processor, which proved to be buggy so they had to redesign it to another one.
3) Berzerk started out as a B/W game. When the fist color games started to appear they decided to "add" color, and "add it" they did with another extra board.

It is 7 boards, 1 is the PSU board, 1 is the filter board, 1 is the main board, 1 the sound board, 1 voice board, and 2 others I forgot the exact function off :)

You can "complain" about such a complicated set-up but it has two brilliant advantages: the board draws-out from the FRONT so it's a breeze to work on them !
AND if something is defective you can go swapping boards instead of having to fix something on that board. This way I was able to make three working board-sets for "the three stooges" a long time ago :)

I LOOOOOOOOOOVE Berzerk, it's easily my favorite game after my SW. It's strange cause usually I prefer the games that I have a link to from the past. Although I played Berzerk on the Atari XL a lot (best home conversion) I never played it (or even saw it) in the arcades. But it is such a brilliant game....

Synoym9: Yes busy 5 day job, another big hobby taking up a lot of time and a little family.....and yes I am happy about it. I have to stay relaxed about it....I am pretty stoked to finish the Ms.Pac soon after Eurocade.

Then it's........Q*bert time !!!!

OK guys...... today it happened one more time....and less than I was hoping happened.

My friend Thomas came again with me but this time we hat the dual-horse-trailer hanging on the truck.

I was looking for 8 machines, 6 in the horse trailer (3 left and 3 right), one in his Pathfinder and one in my Cherokee, but since that sick guy found tons of great stuff again we ended up with 3 cabs in the trailer and one in my Jeep.

I decided to bring the 4 Laserdisc-games on the save side, and what I can say you so far, they are complete and in quite good shape.

Since the day was sooooooooo long because we had to blaze a way through all that stuff I had no time to make many pictures, but you know, they will come step by step.

Due to the fact that a construction-company broke the glass of the rooflight and nobody ever repaired it some (as unbelieveable as it is only some) rain come on top of the machines.

For a rule you can say - the more unimportant they are the more water they had to eat  ;D

Only one exeption is the Gremlin Head-On, it got some serious water-damage but only in aeras that can be repaired easily....but some of the generic cabinets and slots really got it with the sledgehammer....prepair for what follows:

My battery was low, so I had no flashlight anymore and we had no nervs anymore for anything as the Galaxy Rangers are heavy like the Titanic and we had no weels and we was only us two.....but we made it.

On that pictures you will see that they have slightly different measurements and different flight-sticks.......but they are in very nice conditions.

From what I know: yes

But I am not up to date....

My recommendation was to keep it and to use it as coins for the pins he bought.....thats at least what I would do.

Right.

Just as Germany should not compensate their own people when they will introduce toll on their roads....because we don't charge toll either...

Anyway....no. In The Netherlands you cannot exchange coins anymore and bills can only be exchanged at the office of the Dutch Bank in Amsterdam until 2032.

I've still got a 10 gulden bill here. And no I won't exchange it because I want my child and grandchildren to see how AWESOME designed money we had until that fucking Euro came....

Its easier for the Banksters to install a one world government if there are less countries and currencies. They take together the countries and place one of there fucking central-banks in the middle...all of those central-banks are not federal....as well as the american central-bank, the FED.

???  :ghost: :ghost: :ghost:  ;D ;D Very nice world conspiracy theory! Perfectly interluded with the well known FedEx-pun. Me like it. I'd give an eight finger facepalm on my ten finger facepalm ranking for that (a ten finger facepalm would be a double facepalm which this one didn't reach because no aliens, jews or flying spaghetti monsters were involved).

Anyway. Back to topic: I wouldn't recommend to rebuild the harness yourself because there are too much crazy connectors involved you won't get either anywhere on the market. I think the most practical way to save that cab is to harvest another one. Sounds bad but I guess it would take ages and eat many hundrets of coins to get all the parts (including the monitor ...) as single components. Maybe you are lucky enough to find some of the original stuff still in that cab but if you need everything from transformer to AR board you are pretty much lost. Most vector cabs SO badly hacked are practically lost. Even if it hurts to see this ...

If you would take your hands off your eyes you maybe would see what everybody else already knows.

You think other people are naiv but I have tell you that it is very funny for me how blind and aleider a little dumb some people must be not to realize what is to see just everywhere.

There is a cool saying:

One pig says to the other "I heared the chicken saying the Farmer only feed is to because he want to war us"

Says the other pig "you guys with your conspirancy theories"

Without people like you it would'nt be so easy.

Its a rule of life that the people that know nothing guess themself as the smartest.

Hmmm ... I don't know. I just don't feel much more enlighted yet. Maybe it's the setting. If this wouldn't be an _arcade_ forum related to _arcade_ things maybe I would have taken the words of wisdom more serious. So still the bad taste of trolling gathers my mouth and the pics of that wonderful cabs fade away in the nether of the polemic speech of someone who maybe confuses an _arcade_ forum full of _arcade_ fans with the political stage in a whorehouse full of drunken men in ragged cloths drinking gin out of bottles labeled with "victory" stickers. War is peace; Freedom is slavery; Ignorance is strength.   ::)

Caveman is sad now. :(

is't it ironic. :)

I dont try to enlight you, but there is no need for that facepalm-stuff.
If there are things you did not research you should not make joke of others who did.
If you think ignorance is strenght than stay your way, I wont try to change you.

The first political posting did not come from me but you jumped into it as soon as I made one, we all was cool and still are and I dont want to go further into it....

All would be easier if (always the same) people just would try to answer without sarcasm....what reaction do you expect if you type things like you did.

I have no words of wisdom regarding arcade-stuff for you as you are much longer into it and so you know a million things more about it.

And Tyrem.... everything is good....you can calm down, I am not interested to start with you AGAIN.

Ok. Let's get back to ARCADE now. How are things going? Any news on the topic? New pics? Let's (again) leave this chitchat behind and get to business. There are tons of cabs to be saved. No time and place for politics here  :!:

Why? There is always a little off-topic in such a long thread.....and than we come back to the beloved arcade-stuff  :D

Everything is cool... :)

Especially since we cannot change the way politics work  ::)

Sir, at the moment there are no news, but expect some later this week.
If all works out the way it should I make another visit to the vendor to pick more games tomorrow or after tomorrow.

All that is very costly and I make some gastro-jobs next to my job to earn money.

As for my next trip I try to pick (if affordable)

Nilfisks crazy cabarets
Asteroids Deluxe
Portraits
Space Harrier
one of the Space Invaders clones
and Indiana jones...

depending on the space I have in the truck I rent.

At the same time I have to bring all the Midway-boys out to clean, photography and test them as there is a guy on the forum who wants them all and since there is NO blind bidding I want to give him the best possible insight in the purchase.

But with that heavy sucker (the guy told me I should be prepaired for 200+kg) that will be another dirty job  :P

For me it does not sound plausible, but that might be due to my lack of knowledge regarding that topic.

...and so it be!!!

Guys, what can I say, 2 days of endless raining and I HAD to take some cabs today since I had a helping hand and a car.
Since it was a truck with a long wheel base and high-top we could manage it to pick a full 7 machines:

Atari Super Break Out
SEGA Space Harrier
Olympia Portraits
Gremlin Super Space Attack
Atari Asteroids Deluxe
and the SEGA Monaco GP / Turbo-Cabarets

Everywhere was so much water...it was a nightmare.

My 20 years old Converse had ripped shoe-soles, probably the softeners are out and the gum broke and thats why 3 min after I left the house (at around 12:00h) my feet was wet.....and stood that way until 11:00pm

But my friend Martin had it even worse, first he stepped in a deep puddle and than in a hopper filled with rain-water....  ;D ;D ;D

.... I thought I make my throusers wet  but my entire body was wet already.....

Sir,

I also think the Super Breakout catched toooo less attention from the members.

I even have been asked if I really took it now...

But for me it is such a cool find, and it was exactly under the broken rooflight, and it DID catch some water, but its almost nothing.

The Gremlin Head-On got some waterdamages but also nothing so bad for me that I ever would leave without it.

As for the Space Attack:

I now found out that it is a

Gremlin Super Space Attack

http://flyers.arcade-museum.com/flyers_video/sega/107000102.jpg

The artwork is awesome:

http://flyers.arcade-museum.com/flyers_video/sega/107000101.jpg

What confuses me is that there is no backdrop to see, but I remember that I checked both Space Invaders on Backdrop/semitrancelucent mirror and from what I recall both of them had that configuration.

The other one is a

Super Invaders, Nilfisk might know a lot more of that cabinet...I have to deside which one to keep.

http://www.kersch.at/invaders.jpg

But I would be VERY GRATEFUL for comments that help me to choose one.

The Super Invaders got original looking Space Invaders sideart on it.....

The Asteroids Deluxe

....is indeed one from the irish Atari Plant......
............and so are the Space Aces.... :)

OK guys,

tomorrorw it is visit number 5 or 6 but pick-up-trip number 3.

Since I also have to pick the section with the skateboard of the Top Skater I think I only can take 4 or maybe 5 games.

My list says:

Atari System 1 / Indiana Jones - The temple of doom
SEGA Tac/Scan
Universal Cosmic Alien
SEGA Turbo

I going to bring at least the Tac/Scan and the Turbo in my flat......I think I can squeeze 5 more games in my living room.....

Hope to inside pics of Tac/Scan.

That should´nt be an unrealistic hope.....I just measured my flat and it is around 495cm.

If I calculate with 63cm wide games like the Hang-On I could get in 7,8.

If I calculate with 60cm wide games the calculation says 8,25 games....that would be even nicer but I dont know how many games are in the 60cm-range...the Asteroids Deluxe is for sure and the Space Ace could be as well.

What is your opinion what I should put in the living room.

The Hang-on will stay and I think the generic cab too as I going to run M.A.M.E. on it to have some more games to play.....but maybe I change it to the Zaccaria Star-Splash I have bought for 30€ that I want to make to a Mr. Do! running a M.A.M.E.-PC

So 5 games should fit in, my choice would be:

Hang-On
Generic Cab with M.A.M.E.
Asteroids Deluxe
Space Ace
Tac/Scan
Space Invaders Clone

What do you guys think?

OK, I took another bunch of games.

Today it was 10, 11, 12 and 13...... means:

Atari System 1 / Indiana Jones - Temple of doom

SEGA Tac/Scan

Universal Cosmic Alien  and

Zaccaria Astro Wars

.......since I was in near I managed it to pick the second part of my SEGA Top-Skater....I still wonder what devil was riding me to bid on that on eBay.....

That thing is big as the Empire State Building, and I mean both of the 2 parts are....

The Tac/Scan was under the broken rooflight and had some water-contact...surprisingly the wood is macerated on unusual areas.....I going to make pictures as soon as I have time.

They are always in a rush when I come to pick games.....

The Indiana Jones is very dirty, but seems like it turns out nice once it is cleaned.

You can see it in the picture, there are two sidepanels that dont reach to the floor....and they are widened on the lower side.....?!?!

The Universal Cosmic Alien (the white one showing the back to us) and the Zaccaria Astro Wars are almost mint.....they look like new with some dust on them....especially sideart-wise....  :)

I cant believe that was just number 10, 11, 12 and 13 of 29 cabinets.....I am already tired of that stuff...but I will be glad some day later that I took all the hassle on me to save all those games.

Martin, I am 100% sure that it is a electromechanical gun gallery....from all that you teached me about those interesting games I can assure that it is exactly what you think.

I am quite sure it got score reels.....it is in very good conditions..although I saw some cables through the window.

I walked around the cabinet to find a plate with production-details...but I could´nt find one.

The more games I pic, the more I can move without being handycapped.

In one of my next visits I will pay closer attention to that certain game and the "Super Missile" that seems to be a S.A.M.I.-clone.

Oh yeah....mmmm...ok maybe another card game ;)

O wait.....21 ? Must be black-jack then...

The Tac/Scan front seems to be painted black.

For a change.....I like it that someone painted an original cab black ;)

How are the sides ?

Oh and.....props that you are saving the cabs.....those games really needed to get out of that warehouse !

I also thought on black jack....but how can 4 playes play? Everybody would see the others cards.....can you play black jack with more then one 1 against the bank?

The Tac/Scan is really painted, I did´nt realize that, thanks.

The Sides are ok, but swollen on the edges....I really dont know at the moment what work I will perform on the T/S, I just have to finish the warehouse-clearing...and I already have enough of it  :-\

Always to rent a car, always to ask friends for help, finding places to store....and I did not even save the half of it.....

But I tink 4 trips more and its done.

Ps: a view of the side of the T/S

At the moment I cannot see Arcade-Games anymore, but I am sure the day will come when I am happy that I saved them all.

Thanks a lot for the props and motivation, Andre...that helps a lot!!!

Yes, its original.

I plan to line up some cabinets side by side...., the ones without sideart. All the others will be diagonally to see one side of the games.

But maybe I restore the entire wood....we will see.

Hey Syno....

Before powering up the Tac/Scan......please read this. Then read it again twice and decide if you are ready for it ;);)

http://www.arcade-museum.com/manuals-monitors/FAQ%20Electrohome%20G08%20Version%200.8%20dated%2025%20Feb%2020.pdf

First time I browsed thought this. Compared to the G08 the 6100 is easy and the Amplifone is a piece of cake.....although to be honest I only judge that by this document.

Whatever you do......NEVER EVER EVER run this machine unattended. I already use this as a rule for all my vectors but is especially important for a G08.

I do not power up ANY of that games.

Nilfisk told me that there are a row of tests that needs to be done before I can start powering a game up.I know that the TC is a problem-game.

At the moment am busy to collect and to preserve the games....then I start restoring them.

Today I cleaned up the garage where I store them at the moment....and I had to unload the games from yesterday as well as the Top Skater.....with scared the hell out of me due to its weight.

The first games are packed the right way. The others will be done in the next days.

If I understand correctly these games have been standing in a damp place for 30 years. If you wrap them up in this foil the water can not damp out. When the temperature goes up...... The inside will be like and green house and all kind stuff will grow in there, it will rust and the bezels will delaminate....

This whole foil wrap is good for transport not for storage. Make sure you garage is dry, ventilated and has a stable tempurature.

Only if you wanna store 'dry' games in a damp garage or cellar for a few months the wrap will be ok...no longer.

I would say that pictures says enough......

Look at the floor and the wall in the background....the house got problem....but we fixed it yesterday, now my friend is continueing the construction-work after 6 years of break.

Garage floor is dry meanwile....today we pump out the basement.

Its an an awesome basement by the way....180m2!!!!!!!

Wet garage, wet cabs and wrap.. :-[  i would unwrap them asap and use a construction dryer for the garage. You can rent one for under 100 euro's for a week.

Well, the procedure turned out good and the garage and the 180m² basement is bonedry now....

Additionally I have bought dehumidification salt. I brought a big bag of old socks from my mothers house that I going to fill with that salt and put on or wo bags of salt in every cab and wrap it.

This should be the best way I can save them.

That's the recipe for disaster of the century.
These bags are supposed to be put on a grid in special plastic containers...not in socks.
They fill themselves with humidity and release the water in the plastic container below them..

Where do you think the water is gonna go? stay inside the sock?

I just watched a video. It seems not to be the right system.

The granulat melts to a "Salz-Lösung"

I thought the UHU-granulat is like the little bags you find in the packings of new electronic devices.

From what I read you also can just fill the socks with usual salt as the salt binds the humidity and it stays in the salt.

I have to go for that salt or the granulat the use when they pack electronics.

Some of the games go to Lower Austria to my mothers house where the humidity is a serious problem.

Thats why I pack the games that way. Not everything nobody did before here is automatically bad.

Today I finally managed it to collect all the Midway-cabs and brought them out in the free.

I cleaned them and made check-list for the a DLF-member who wants them all.
I still have to send all the data to that certain person but thought its worth sharing:

Today the vendor introduced me to ANOTHER ROOM!!!!

I looks like that find is never going to end....

By now I cannot say if there is anyting interesting.....many pinballs and the conditions are good as it is in dry environment.

I could only spend some minutes and I had to climb to get an overview.
The only thing that catched my attention was a mysterious cockpit-cabinet.

I only have some very sucking pictures, but its around the same that I could see in person....maybe threre is somebody who recognize something in the pictures:

I going to pack them all in the winter, cold air cant contain much humidity.

But anyways, everything is very dry now, I just want to go super-save.

ChrisChris sent me product that I can put in the games to dry the air....I did´nt go to far into it yet as I want to read when I have a silent minute....thanks at that point ChrisChris.

OK, one week out to my next trip (hopefully) and we are approximately at the half of the games on my list saved.

Since more and more games pop up I have to modifiy my list and I wonder since some weeks what of themany the Zaccaria-Cabinets should come with me.

I already took the Astro Wars as it was totally original and good in shape and I liked the Cabinet very much.

I think I also go for the Scramble as my mentor Nilfisk suggested so.

Problem is that a big part of that games there quite the same like

Astro Wars
Galaxian
Glaktron
Galaxia

and so on so I wonder what I should take with me, I think the Zaccaria Galaxia and the Jeutel Galaktron will be for sale as I already have the Namco Galaxian and the Zaccaria Astro Wars but I would be interested in your opinion.

Some fine looking artwork on some of the MK1s also

Galaxian is a well known classic, while the rest of them might be less boring...don't know them so good...

Known classic originals are always good. Rare beautifull cabs are more my thing. The ones that have nice artwork and no waterdamages. The question is how many will you store and how many will you use. Are you going to set them in a gameroom or will there be a roadtrip/warehouseraid at your place in twenty years?

Personally I would take cabs that I can setup, maybe a/b quality cabs if the price is low enough just for the sake of having them. Any other cab i would make sure collectors that restore them get them for the lowest price, then it is interesting for them and you will be written down in the list of arcade heros. On the other hand you can just dump them all on ebay and make money (or not)  :P the money you can donate to the Laszo Arcade Trust  ;D

I gave 2 cabinets to Nilfisk
2 to my friend martin and
1 to Hannes, the owner of the house where I store the games
13 to my friend Thomas
and 2 more go next week when Nikos takes his ones from me

....so I should be written down to the list of arcade heros....  ;D

Meanwhile I picked some of the other games, they are all paid but I always make one run since the place is far from me and the storage in exactly the other direction:

Yeps, the 'Attach' feature in the 'Additional Options' Post is a feature that allow you to quickly upload one or a couple of pictures, but it's clearly NOT the best way to go to details a road trip, or anything else requiring a max of pictures... Although it's not a problem, I strongy suggest you to find a free host for so many pictures...otherwise, you'll quickly by the top poster here, in addition of filling this server in the speed of light!   ::) ;)  ;D

Bad idea IMO. I already pay a few bucks for my photobucket account, so I can use the pics all over the internet. And I don't like huge pictures where you keep scrolling up and down and from left to right to see the whole picture.

Photobucket gives you img code for each picture. Looks something like this:
Code: [Select]

By the way, the newest finds encouraged me to believe that the Ireland Atari Laserdisc-cabinets are originally Dragons Lair´s that has been converted to Space Aces later...I think about to convert my one (the one I keep) back to what it was when it came from the factory.

Thats exactly why i host them myself, it does not cost much, just take a raspberry pi (5 watts so no high energy bill) a domain name, also cheap per year, and if for some reason your host needs changes, just modify DNS and your'e back in business.

1- Nikos generic cabinet

2- SEGA Turbo
(I wanted to load already 2 times, the first time we realized that we cannot load it at the end, what we tried. It is that tall that it needs to be the first cab that needs to go into the van.
The second time I wanted to pick it we decided to take some games from another venue first as we were already there, so when we arrived the certain hall we had´nt the room for the Turbo and took another one.

3- Stern Berzerk

4- Super Invaders (a Space Invaders Deluxe Clone)

5- Williams Arctic Gun

6- Alca Flying Circus

and maybe we can fit one Game in one of the passenger cars.

You will get many pictures like always.

Awsome thread, heard about this on UKvac and the 10pence arcade, so had to come and take a looksee at the photo's great stuff on saving these cabs.  Doesn't happen to be a Centipede Cabaret or Euro Millipede in there somewhere does there? :)

No and no, unfortunately not.
Although I discover new games everytime I am there so far the games you stated are not on the list.  :-\

This thread brought some UK-members to DLF although I opended a compareable thread on UKVAC too, which is my favorite forum now and this is the one that will be updated when I go back to the place to pick the rest.

I had another rescue mission which was urgent and prepair my next trip which will be a big story too...but in the new year I go back to the place and pick the rest...and I will make more pictures and post them on UKVAC, I just get more love and respect there

Ahhhh, than your Benson Red, they mention you right after me on that certain podcast.

Yes, Victor and I had a conference for at least 1 and a half hours or more with an interview-time of arround 45min, so I hope it will be intersting for the community.

Today I talked to a fathers friend who was a vendor back in the das ane he topd me he still got a Rally-X in a storage.
I am not sure if it is collectible but I take almost everything....what do you think?

GET THE RALLY X!!! It's a wonderful game! One of my favourites!  Really nice cab too, especially if it's a Namco version.

I would have taken it in any case, I take everything but I would like to know the value and the collectability...?

Not sure on value, but quite good I would have thought, as it is such a good game. The cab is very similar to a Galaxian, pac man, galaga etc (if it is a Midway/namco)

Unbelievable, after my broken fibula and my broken toe after it I go back to the place for the first time after months.

My plans are to finally get my hands on the

Stern Berzerk
SEGA Turbo
1 or 2 Gremlin/SEGA (one is the Head On)

and some E.M.-goodness like the

Alca Flying Circus
Williams Arctic Gun

Lets hope for the best....

Broken fibula on the right, broken toe on the left leg....broke the fibula and and then crashed 3x with the crutches and broke the toe on the other leg...thought I go crazy!!!

Unfortunately I was with only one guy at the operators place and we was in a hurry, so I had not much time to make picutures as you are used from me.

But I have some....

What went with me yesterday was

ALCA Flying Circus
Williams Arctic Gun
a Gremlin/SEGA (no idea whats inside)
Stern´s Berzker
SEGA Turbo Upright

Ever since my toe nail got busted (and fell off in the end) during the moving of my cabs during the first Eurocade I wear my safety shoes whenever I move cabs. I am lucky since I have these from work already, but these days you can get pretty good quality safety shoes form any DIY store for very reasonable prices. It's a small but very worth wile investment. Even during the last RGE/Eurocade cab moving I already had at least one moment that I was very glad I was wearing them....

I got lucky when I removed the backdoor from my Time Crisis cabinet, because it fell on my toes wearing sneakers but I was OK fortunately.

Back in 2007, after working on my Battlezone, I put the back door back... but I didn't put icorrectly ... and the back door falls like ...a guillotine ... on my big toe! Of course, I was working bare-foot... Dangerous hobby we have here, guys!  ;D

Man that made me laugh and I sure needed one !! thanks !

Let me dig up my pics....indeed it was the back door of my Joust....Ruud, the guy who build my gameroom and helps transport cabs every now and then is sometimes a bit impatient and he was while we were unloading....I couldn't support the cab just yet when he already let go....the backdoor dropped out and not only did it fall like a guillotine, it also actually has a goddamn metal plate like a guillotine on thee under side (to "hook it in" easily....).

That's why I always wear safety shoes from that moment on.....Etienne where's that picture with me with helmet, vest and safety gloves ? :)

This is slowely going to an end...all the dedicated 70's and 80's cabinets arw picked except 2 DX-cabinets which I have paid and will pull in the next days.
In the coming weeks I will take the one or other 90's machine and that was it then.

The 1 year of clearence time was quite a good estimation and it makes me a bit melancholic that soon my last visits are coming.
But until that day I will for sure have some more pickup pictures for you guys.

I made a break since I had a lot of work that did pay....but now I finish the storage of the big vendor.
Almost everything is gone....only some reserved machines for me are left...I think I make one or two further runs, than thats was it.

Yesterday I finally found the time mood the free the burried Tailgunner II cockpit. It was under tons of parts and cocktail machines, but I think it survived quite well.

and the european Konami Simpsons.
First I thought I take it just because its there...but meanwhile I look forward to the restoration, I think it is a fun game:

Next to it an Asteroids-Clone with small vector-monitor...13" probably. I took it for my pal Nilfisk who really became a friend of the year I share the hobby with him.

Next will be the SEGA Hang-On bike....and do not look forward to that task....
Since I Alpha 1 showed me an article that stated the european Hang-On machines where produced at the Atari-plant in Tipperary/Ireland and since I have no reason to asume that this unit is an exception I hope it also divides in 3 parts with the bike remaining on the middle section with casters.
Otherwise that transport wont be a lot of fun...
