Title: Resto queue - Gyruss
Post by: vernimark on May 21, 2014, 12:38:34 AM
http://www.vernimark.com/?cat=67

after last roadtrip I have a lot of cabs on which working on.
all cabs are in my garage in a long queue so I think to restore them following that order...
Gyruss is in my house and it is more or less complete.

I'm buying from arcadeshop a new CP overlay but actually I'm worried about the coin door. It is completely unpopulated and I think it needs special parts. Do you have pics of the upper part of the coin door mechanism?

Okay will take pics over the weekend proably.

BTW: The Vega board on ebay is from the same guy I bought one from earlier on, though not the same board. He said he has probably more Vega boards in storage but it will take some time to check.

Thank you :)

so...
I found some damages on the front panel and on the corners so I decided to disassemble the cab in order to substitute the broken parts

Looking inside the cab I could see one PS is missing. Do you have a picture of the +5 -5 +12 V power supply?

this is what I have:

Monitor is burned. I'll evaluate the possibility to change it once the cab is working

The power switch that generates +5Vdc is missing. Do you have a picture of that power supply? It is just on the PCB metal box.
Thank you!!

I used the same putty to cover the t-molding damages, then I painted with a glossy black paint

Then I used a matte black paint for the rest.

I could see a metal panel was mounted on the front panel. I removed the coin door and all screws and the metal panel could be removed. you can see the front panel was very damaged...

so I decided to remake it completely.
I started from a chipboard, making all needed wholes and painting it in black (after a primer and a 350 sandpaper)

Ok today arrived new CPO from ARCADESHOP.COM so first of all I prepared the CP for the new layer.
1) I removed the overlay
2) cleaned
3) fixed the rust
