Title: 80s movies in Brussels
Post by: liquidx on July 04, 2013, 01:53:30 PM

If you're in or around Brussels, the Cinema Museum is going all 80s this month:

Wow, would love to see films like BTTF And Ghostbusters on the big screen once again. Great line up of movies !

Do  they do subtitles or do they speak in French voices in the cinema in Belgium?

Shame it isn't a bit closer, they should do that here too.

They're in their original language and subtitled in Dutch and French.

Mmm, that covers a lot of screen, but acceptable because the really big hits we already know by heart ;)

It's 1,5 hours to the ring of Brussels, then it's another 1,5 hours to get from that bloody ring of Brussels into the city center......

I have a good videotheek (video rental store) next door, and it seems most classics are beautifully restored to Blu Ray. I have the idea many classics outperform the original screening film rolls in their new digital form. Totally smashing was 2001, that movie looks spectacular on BR (70's one though), but for example the Indiana Jones trilogy is a remarkable conversion too.

Incidentally I bought my first Blu-Ray player yesterday. Quite a contrast to when DVD was the latest technology because I bought a DVD player very quickly. I remember asking at the video rental where they had DVDs and the girl behind the counter responded with a confused expression on her face and "Where is _what_ ??"

Don't expect to buy that many Blu-Rays but I wanted to be able to route my DVDs through HDMI to my receiver and then to my TV instead of SCART to TV and coax audio to receiver.

I paid an insane price for that SCART cable by the way, but it was worth it for all those years (it looks more like a chain to secure your bike ;)).

I also have a great sounding surround audio set-up but there is always something very special about watching a movie in a real theatre.
