WHY do people completely restore a cab, put lots of hours in it and than ruin their work by putting up the WRONG color T-molding ??
I know they're not damaging but it's just......it's like putting a modern styled blue colored frame around a Rembrandt painting.....
-
at least those sins are easy to fix. not like they mamed them... i hope so...
-
Take a beer and relax a bit Andre - Its the easiest fix of them all!
-
I know it doesn't hurt the cab and is easily fixed but it's like restoring a 54 chevy and then putting some of these under it:

It's just wrong.

Well, It doesn't look terrible, the colors add a nice accent to the game, as the colors match... like Ms pac man's match the marquee as does the Galaga, Yes, not original, but to each is own. :D
-
I disagree. If you restore something you should stick to the original as much as possible.
-
true. i still would buy them all with no worries. and i would enjoy installing the right t-molding for each and every one. :)
-
i agree on the colors to be Original as well.
the only one in this row that does not "hurt" my eyes is the Galaga.
the other two are simply ugly, especially the mrs pac..
-
why NOT?
-
Because !

I agree about the fact it has to be 100% conform to the original.
Our cabinets are getting really rare, and it won't get better in the next decades.
We have to respect the choices of the Team that designed the game.
They spend hours to create all those graphics and colour & trim choices, so let's honor and respect their work.
We are restoring arcade cabinets like other people are restoring paintings.
We don't have the choice but let everything as it was created.

I totally agree with you but I did do it ONE TIME. And, I felt guilty about. However, I thought it turned out cool. I was being cheap and used some extra t-molding I had and stuck it on. But, I still feel guilty. But, it's easily reversible!

I think that both the Galaga and Track & Field look good, actually.

damn John... I would kill for the original Track & Field-cab. I do have a completely self made Hellomat but it is just not the same...
