Title: Best Win XP FREE Jukebox, MUST BE touchscreen !!!
Post by: level42 on March 11, 2013, 10:21:52 PM
Guys, our good friend Etienne kindly donated a PC for the clubhouse. It's running WinXP and my plan is to install it there as a "Jukebox machine".

Although a touch-screen would be ideal we probably have to stick with normal monitor with mouse control. I would very much prefer to NOT have a keyboard necessary though.

This will be installed in the bar area (well known for the previous Eurocade visitors) and we have very limited space.

Also it must be as FOOL-PROOF as possible. I mean even people without ANY computer knowledge should be able to use it. It should never go back to windows in one way or the other (well unless it blue screens of course :))

Now, I'm looking for suggestions on the best Jukebox software to use...hope you guys have some good suggestions :)

[EDIT] CHANGED TITLE !!! Etienne "arranged" a nice touchscreen LCD for the clubhouse !!
Some idiot put a "cross" over it with something sharp, which rendered it useless for his customer but we don't mind such things at the music club as long as it's free and works :) BIG  :spaceace: :spaceace: :spaceace: to Etienne !!

Very nice indeed, thanks !! That is exactly what I need !! Very tempted to build a small control box with just the required buttons...

Only thing missing, how to search for a song/artist by "typing" (with a mouse) the name of that song/artist ?
Flipping the boards gets a bit tiresome if you want to hear a ZZtop song ;)

I understand I could ask in the French Gamoover forum but my French is uhhhh...pas tres bien....

I was at a customer last week, and they use these next to the laptop as a mouse and numeric keypad in one.

Perhaps this could be of use with this  ::)

i see its very easy to reconfigure the "A1-B9" part to the numpad keys:

Maybe....very cool idea...but the buttons would need new graphics ;) Mmmm, maybe it is possible to scratch away the numbers ? The arrows are already correct :)

I'm a bit sad about the French jukebox software, it really has the potential but I just discovered that it doesn't play any m4u files and since most of the songs I put on it come from my Mac....

Also missing:
- an on-screen keyboard that makes it possible to search artists/songs
- it must be possible to auto-start in full-screen, this one doesn't seem to do it when using the normal windows "opstarten" function
- preference: when you insert a USB stick it should "autoscan" for music files and import them (with one "enter" from the keyboard if possible

So is there any other software that does these things ?
