Huh?? - is that a scam?? - 1 of 105 made??!!!
-
Well....if Disney has really made 105 this is another nice PR move....Lets find THE others ! :)
-
I'm sure somebody is going to make a repro that plays the actual game, just a matter of time. ;D
Disney is doing a great job promoting this, it's going to be a pretty big movie. Wonder if it will have an impact on the hobby like the king of kong had.

that machine needs to be restored ... :P

Cool, AWESOME, another DK conversion kit! I never heard about this one. Will look great next to my (converted to) Drakton DK cab I guess.
Though somehow doesnt look as cheap as a conversion should. Guess that's because it is from Disney? Did they try to enter the arcade biz with this title back then?
So is anyone having one of the 104 other kits for sale? I will pay twice as much as the Disney dudes!
:pac: :pac: :pac: :pac: :pac: :pac: :pac: :pac: :pac: :pac: :pac: :pac: :pac: :pac: :pac: :pac: :pac: :pac: :pac:

Concerning the artwork they have done a great job (IMHO).
But WTF are those circular scratches around the stick and the buttons supposed to come from??? Never seen such scratches on a CP.

I have an idea.....but I can't post that here.........

Downloaded the iOS (iPhone/iPad) version of Fix-it Felix Jr. and it is a LOT better than the one you can play on-line. It is much faster with fixing the windows which makes it a much more fun game to play.
They should really updated the on-line version. I just want to play that game in a real cab, but it must be the iOS version.....it would have been totally believable as DK4....
-
I have the Full upright Artwork from RidicRick, and he also did a artset for the Icade:
We can start to build a mini cabinet where the Ipad slides in from the top
Is the original Icade controlled by a bluetooth keyboard or something ?
btw, is there a Ipad emulator out there ? then its possible to run on a big screen ;D
Or they need to release an stand alone version for PC...
-
iCade is Bluetooth and I've read because of that not very responsive in playing and I also felt it when I played the iCade that was at Eurocade 2011....
The Atari. Arcade is better in that respect because it uses the connector of the iPad. It is not as funky looking though of course....problem is that it needs to be supported by the software...just as the iCade I believe....
Afaik there is a developer tool to run iOS apps on a big computer but it's on a Mac of course....
However, naturally you can connect any iOS device to a TV with the right cable....
So, without Disney adding support for one of those two devices it's pretty pointless I think...
-
Fix-it Felix Jr. does work with iCade.....not sure if it works with Atari. Arcade though and I want to know !!
Strange that Disney doesn't mention iCade support....

Repro: yes, playing the actual game: no. It´s like you can read minds, just wait and see, if I am correct then you will be surprised. 8) :o

There IS no actual game..just the browser version and the iOS version afaik.
The issue with the online version is that it takes too long to fix a window which makes the game slow and sluggish to play. On the iOS version it is much faster and much more fun to play.
I really really like the iOS version, it is addictive ! There are a couple of things that could be improved though:
- Felix never dies......I mean when hit he just flashes and then you can continue....
This is one of the few things that give it away that this is a 2012 game....this is really a modern way of loosing a life. They should have made him die in a DK style and reset the board.
- the boundaries that block your way are not overly clearly visible they could have make them stand out a bit more so it is more clear where you can and cannot move. Especially when you stand to the right of a vertical block, it gets hidden by Felix' sprite.
- and I miss the intro a bit...
Otherwise brilliant game. Maybe the best thing is that they didn't build in Continues !!!!
Some others commented that it is weird that Felix fixes windows with an axe. It is, but I like it and I think it is deliberate. Illogical things like that happened all the times in game in those days so this just adds to the game.
-
Yeah, I know that there is no actual arcade game, but there might be actual arcade cabs, complete with the wreck it artwork. Just wait and see :)

Yep the one's Disney did.
I guess someone's converting a Nintendo cab........
I'm sorry, I like the game REALLY but I wonder never sacrifice one for this....
-
No, I don't think that Nintendo cabs would be sacrivised, it would be more like a reproduction run, only the cabs of course, no game inside it.
-
Ah, that sound much better.... :)
-
just got back from the cinema - and guess what was waiting there for us?
i also forced charlotte to "pose" in front of the cabinet, but because of her recent foot injury she didn't seem to be too happy about it (or because she just didn't care ;))
of course, i started looking for someone who could tell me more about the cabinet (and who would tell me what's going to happen once the showing of the movie is over). a friendly guy from the cinema told me that the cabinet just came in yesterday and that it still has an american plug installed! did they really import this from the usa? he also said that you could play it with dollars / quarters, but they weren't sure whether they are going to set it up for playing or just leave it standing there as some kind of decoration. i also asked him about the availability of the cabinet and he was kind enough to call his boss immediately who was somewhat "overrun" because he didn't think that anyone would be interested in it. he said he needed time to think about it, but i should get in touch with him later ... :)
omgwtfbbq - that would be the coolest thing on earth if i could pull this off, but somehow i doubt it, because i'm pretty sure it's just a rental machine which they have to give back, but who knows. unfortunately, we were in a hurry, so i couldn't take any more pics, but i will go back for sure and examine the machine in more detail. from what i could tell though, it looked fabulous!
-
Next time you go there bring a stepdown transformer ;)
I am curious if it still plays DK, or that they did also something with the inside..
-
Very cool Ully! Didn't think these Wreck-it Ralph machines would make it outside the US.
What cinema company is it? Maybe they bring these machines all throughout Europe then.
-
i was at the cinema again this week (paranormal activity 4) and of course i had to check out what had happened to the fix it felix jr cabinet. at first i was disappointed, because i couldn't find it anymore and thought it had already left the building, but then i heard (and later saw) something familiar in the children's corner of the cinema
i had more time to inspect it in detail this time, they had used a stepdown converter to make this baby work!
what i really like (about this machine in particular) is how they created the used-look: not too much over the top (like we've seem on some earlier cabinets), e.g only three slight scratches on the marquee and cigarette burns on the control panel
(http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8474/8103553429_1eba0c6298_b_d.jpg)
the monitor shows some kind of discoloration to the right, but nothing spectacular. i followed the attract mode for a while (absolutely hilarious and worthwhile), but then of course i wanted to play a game (or two). i was surprised that the screen showed two credits, but i wasn't able to start a game - no response from any of the buttons ... :'(
(http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8051/8103553045_95c00b233e_b_d.jpg)
noone was around to ask (for help), so i inspected the cab a little bit further and found this sheet of paper attached to the back of the cab
i'm afraid i've fallen in love with that cab :P :-* and i really r-e-a-l-l-y REALLY R-E-A-L-L-Y want to fix it have it! this won't be the last time i've seen that cab ... 8)
-
Go Ully, this would be a real unique Arcade History catch. ;)
-
You do realize that no-one yet knows what is inside there.......I bet it's a PC with a custom program.....we need it Ully.......capture this machine and you write Arcade Histrory ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
-

i bet it's a pc as well! how cool would it be to open this thing up for the first time? it felt somehow strange walking into the cinema and suddenly hearing those fix it felix attract mode sounds coming from SOMEWHERE inside the building ...
as for capturing the machine: obviously those have been brought over from the usa. i wonder whether they are going the full length to ship them back after the movie's run is over, whether they are just going to put them somewhere to rot rest in piece, whether they are going to be auctioned off or ... i'll definitely give it my very best to get a grip on that machine!
-
Go for it Ully !
Bug the hell out of the cinema manager/Disney to get it :)
Indeed, sending them back is very costly. That is how one (or more) prototype-styled-artwork Defender(s) ended up here in Europe, they were at arcade fairs but never got shipped back....
You could put on an overall, walk in there during day-time with your arcade tools and ask the next worker there where the machine is and that they'd call you to fix the problem with it :)
Ask for the keys, if not there, drill out with your battery-drill. Copy the contents of the PC to your laptop and walk out whistling ;D ;D ;D ;D This works all the time in movies and TV series.... ;D
Gee if only I would be brave enough to do something like that :) Anyway, this game needs to "find it's way out"........If you know what I mean ;)
I might be going to the cinema tonight I wonder.......... ;D Oh no, I'll probably find one of Jinkx's replica's :) Whatever happened to that story by the way ??
-
Once you'll own the cab, I can't wait for the epic moment when you're gonna sand the sides and paint them in red... hey, they are scratched anyway so why keeping them? ;D ;D ;D

Why all that trouble,
I mean, its easier to dress up like a deliveryguy, take a trolley and a clipboard with some documents and just pickup the cab ;D

would anyone around here actually pull that stunt off? i wouldn't for sure!
-
Bring that cabinet in a theater close to me, and I'll do it... in the name of the 'ArcadeLifeStyle' ! ;D
If I caught, I'll be an 'Arcade Martyr'... 8) So do it, Ully (...and do not forget to film everything!) ;)
-
just got word from the boss of the cinema: he told me that they don't know yet what is going to happen to the cabinet once the film's run is over, whether they are going to ship it back or not. he also said that there is a chance that they are going to keep it here and that they will inform me as soon as they have more details. OR i can contact him again in four weeks ... :)
i'm going to send him a reply now telling him that the machine does not work properly (inability to start a game) and that i would gladly come over to try and fix the problem - fix it ully sr. 8)
-
bring some type of media with you and if you have the change copy all the content (if its some sort of PC ofcourse..)
