Title: :: Majorette Motor #1 ::
Post by: DarthNuno on January 14, 2012, 12:27:22 PM
Thanks to that topic (http://www.gamoover.net/Forums/index.php?topic=24895.0) on gamoover board, I remembered a toy I used to play lllllooooooonnnnng time ago

It's called Majorette Motor #1

Well, I didn't have it personally but I clearly remember playing that thing during hours and hours in a friend's living room... what great memories  :)

Anyway, I had to found it back, and luckily... I got one in great condition

...in a so great condition, because it's still 'factory sealed', hell yeah!  :-*

Because of that, I won't open it now (Arghhhh  :ghost:) ...and I'll have to wait until the third birthday of my Daughter to see & play that toy again  :P
Some of you recognize that toy? It's made in France (yes, at the time it was possible to have toys not made in Asia...).
There's no video about that specific 'Majorette' model, but it's the same kind of toy than the 'DARDA (tm)' for example... see this crazy video right here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M9a7ijMh338).

I only know Darda, but I had a few Majorette cars when I was a kid, and a few Majokit sets (a gasstation, carwash and 1 or 2 others). Those Majokit sets were very cool, I think my parents still have it in a box somewhere in their attic...

When I was little, there was a Made in Holland brand "Ambi Toys". It was the well crafted, minimalist, much sturdier little kid toy alternative to Fischer Price.
If you think it needs Asians to make this now, I was surprised that an Italian manufacturer bought the brand and all the designs and starts making Ambi Toys again in Italy.

Nice!
I had a car circuit as a kid and half of the circuit was on the floor and the other half was on the wall completely perpendicular to the rest.
Can't remember the name. Something sounding futuristic like "vectrex"or something (obviously not vectrex)...
Does that ring a bell to anyone?
If so please don't tell me the name otherwise I'll try to buy it again on ebay  ;)

In the same idea, did you remember the "STUNT CARS" ? In French we said : 'les autos cascadeuses'  ;D
Check this video and I'm sure you'll recognize the thing : http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x2huqi_pub-ancienne-usa-jouet-voiture-de-c_auto (http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x2huqi_pub-ancienne-usa-jouet-voiture-de-c_auto)
I didn't play the cars on that particular video, but it was similar...we had to turn the crank before starting the car ... then KABOUM!  ;D

I remember I had a kind of "gun" that fired cars at f.i. a stack of barrels. Don't remember the name but I do know my brother and I secretly opened it (and played it) before getting it for Sinterklaas :)
