Time to start on the Sideart for my crazykong...
First i need to scan the side for dimentions and to preserve the original sideart..
Lucky me, i have an empty zacc at hand 8)
Lets wash this cab, we dont want a dirty scan ;D
Can you tell that i was a windowwasher in my past ?
Carefully putted the scanner on the cab, time to start...
Scan in progress....
Almost there....
I took some old newspapers and taped them together, i want to trace the outline of the cab for measurements.
that piece of paper is more easy to bring home that the complete cab...
(cabs are at my mothers attic..)
Lets mask the T-molding, i dont want a black line from the permanent marker there,
i need to preserve this T-molding, i never saw any replacement anywhere..
and done!
20 scans later i can return to my house and start with the stitching, placing in AI etc. etc.
does anyone need "Zaccaria spacestation" Sideart ? ;D
(http://www.opdenkelder.com/pics/crazykong/vectoring/sideart/9.jpg)
This is going to be a challenge, there are no good quality sources for CK sideart... :-\
Anyway, i got some, so i can start here
to be continued... (when i got time...)
-
well-documented effort, etienne, good luck with that task!
-
nice progres there Etienne
wil keep a close eye on this threat ;)
to be continued... (when i got time...)
just take your time for it,im sure you make a nice looking side art ;)
-
You took another great challenge Etienne, good luck with it. ;)
Unfortunately my CK. is quite different shape, but I will aslo keep my eyes on this project. ;)
-
Wow, one hell of a project!! Good luck.
-
You took another great challenge Etienne, good luck with it. ;)
Unfortunately my CK. is quite different shape, but I will aslo keep my eyes on this project. ;)
If you give me the exact shape, i can transform it into that once it is finished ;)
EDIT:
Bring something like this to eurocade my friend...
or anybody else with a full zacc
(that does not sound right :D)
-
Somehow I knew you would say that. ;D
-
I had some errors with auto stitch, so i decided to take a look and try it manual in AI..
As you can see i miss a part and here and there the scans are rotated a bit, so i decided to rescan the side
next time i will use a guide on the cab that keeps the scanner exact on the same line and work the way up instead of just scan it like i did..
in every experience hides a learning moment.... ;)
-
next time i will use a guide on the cab that keeps the scanner exact on the same line and work the way up instead of just scan it like i did..
exactly why i used a guide when i scanned my vindicators artwork 8) :P
-
Back on this.
Its time to learn from earlier mistakes ;)
After ajusting the guide by measuring left and right from the bottom, carefully place the scanner 8)
While i was carefully placing the scanner, i heard some noises comming from behind me..
tum tum tum tum tuuuummm hmmm that sounds like Crazy kong !
My Little helper plugged the Machine...
here my son, this stool will be more comfortable ;D
(http://www.opdenkelder.com/pics/crazykong/vectoring/sideart/15.jpg)
Whatever you do xander, dont beat my high score :D
(http://www.opdenkelder.com/pics/crazykong/vectoring/sideart/16.jpg)
Almost there ...
And thats it, the last scan..
i ended up with 25 scans this time, and i increased the settings from 300 dpi to 600, so these files are a bit better than the first run ::)
Time to stitch this bunch of scans together....
Later more :P
-
do i understand this correctly that basically you are scaninning the cabinet to get an exact outline for the CK sideart?
-
and to preserve the spacestation art..
-
Just in case, here's a great tuto (http://www.gamoover.net/dossier/scanner-un-side-art) done by Zorg who explains his method to scan a side art. It's in french, but the pictures speak for themselves 8)
-
Zorg is currently looking for a 4600 see thru scanner, in order to rescan a nice piece of "rare" art.
if I succed in finding one, I will update the tuto using some more alignment tricks. ;-)
problem is always the stiching.
PS the tuto is alos available in english, http://www.gamoover.net/node/73

snatch this one for 2 euros ;)

@zorg: i could get in for you in exchange for those atari logo joysticks and the marble madness backdoor sheet which are still waiting for me at your place ... ;) :P
-
After messing around in panoramafactory i was happy with the stitching result, but something strange happened to the colors :-\
So i decided to call in for help, since Ully did a great scan and stitch on the Vindicators sideart..
He told me he used another program, and that it worked very well :)
So i gave it a go, and indeed the stitch is perfect and the colors are preserved :-*
Here an example of the two different programs:
the first is with panoramastudio, and the second with panoramafactory
I dont know what went wrong with the colors, but basicly the 2 programs do the same ???
Then i started to look at the options of stitching all together in one go, but that did not work out well as you can see here ;D
(http://www.opdenkelder.com/pics/crazykong/vectoring/sideart/23.jpg)
The program assumes foto's so it calculates focal length and bold lens to compensate..
so i needed to use the option "document stitch"
after creating panorama's from each row of scans, i rotated them all and repeated the process with these rotated pictures
(http://www.opdenkelder.com/pics/crazykong/vectoring/sideart/20.jpg)
After a long time of rendering, a nice and clean hires sideart picture rolled out my laptop ;D
(http://www.opdenkelder.com/pics/crazykong/vectoring/sideart/21.jpg)
Thanks to Ully for the Super(Ully) tip :spaceace:
-
great :)
but what's the name of the new program ? :p
-
Looks great, it's very nice to see a Zaccaria artwork in the vectormaster's work desk. ;D

take care that this is a unworking one. if zorg is not interested , i'm interested bidding on it (depend on shipping).
-
whoops, my bad, i was thinking its a working one....

thanks, but end of auction was 13:30 :) i decided not to bid anyway as it went to expensive for a non working one

After creating a new document with the correct dimentions, i can start with creating the outline of the cabinet
First create circles with the right diameter..
Then color them to see better what i am doing ;)
Okay, looks like it is one nice path after some seriouse stitching, cropping, splitting and merging ::)
exchange the fill with transparent, and make the stroke black..
i copied the outline and flipped it so now i got the left and right side as a template
(http://www.opdenkelder.com/pics/crazykong/vectoring/sideart/28.jpg)
It looks like i need to bend and shape the ck picture a bit more... :-\
anyway, not today :D
if anybody has a better shot of the sideart, i am very interested !
-
Okay, now we have the outline..
Time to check the accuracy.
I squeezed in the scan and schrinked a bit so i can still clearly see the outline.
it is there for reference how to paste the paper together, because i did not know how illustrator calculated the pieces
First i printed it at my job on A3 paper, and here they are..
Looks like i got this puzzle complete ;D
(http://www.opdenkelder.com/pics/crazykong/vectoring/sideart/30.jpg)
Masking tape time :P
Now i learned that illustrator did a good job on splitting the image for printing in tiles..
no overlap, just paste them straight to eachother..
After pasting them together, i cut it to shape..
Look honey , we got new wallpaper ;D
(http://www.opdenkelder.com/pics/crazykong/vectoring/sideart/33.jpg)
I went to my mothers where the cab is located to check the size..
I have measured and stitched the scans good, it fits exactly ! :spaceace:
Now i can start with the artwork and use this outline as a template..
as you can see in the original artwork, there is a margin at the edges which i will also insert in the new artwork.
Then i will make the outline bigger so i have a stroke that is over the edge of the cabinet which i can trim off later after installing...
Lets hope this idea works... 8)
-
amazing work, etienne, and so wonderfully documented! a lot of fun following your ongoing efforts
-
there is a way with illustrator to have the puzzle parts printed with some references marks that will allows you to stitch the papaers easily and accuratly.
I'm not really helpfull, I've done it in the past, but I can't remember how to do. maybee our common friend google will be helpfull
-
Hey Zorg, yours is one of the names I _really_ miss on Eurocade's list ;)
(sorry to break into this wonderful thread....)
-
whooo nice progres there etienne
i searcht internet for some pictures to but only found the ones you got now.
there are also 2 pictures on zzzaccaria.com but you probly know about that.
-
Yeah, that was the only source i found ;)
anyway, we will get there ....

I found it, its just on the printing dialog box, under "marks and bleeds"
Also the overlap you can specify under general:

Little update
I may have a possible source for a real cabinet with the original sidearts.......
lets hope i can work things out and scan it at that cabinet...
Fingers crossed...
-
So you mean this one? ;D
It was my very first cab and this is the first pic that I made when I got it in 2004. :)
-
If you permit me to put the cab on its side and scan it both sides, then i am talking about that one ;)
If you permit that, you will make at least 3 CK owners very very happy !
(after i vectorised it, or did you do that already also ? ;D)
I have never seen one that has it in reality, just pictures....
And again you can see that miracles do happen ! :spaceace:
-
OMG :o :o :o :o
And again you can see that miracles do happen
you can say that,i only saw 2 pics of a original cab on internet thats it.
so you sure can say this is a miracle.
-
I think it's the only existing Ck cab with the original sideart.
As far as I know, there were no full uprights made with this dedicated sidearts, it looks fantastic. :spaceace:

maybe in the near future there will be a full upright repro sideart available ;)
-
And the Scans where made ! :spaceace:
Ofcourse i am using the "scan with guide" technique ;)
Once sorted out and stitched the "short rows" i can continue with the full monty :P
(http://www.opdenkelder.com/pics/crazykong/vectoring/sideart/stitch.jpg)
Again a very big thanks to Luigi ! :spaceace: :spaceace: :spaceace:
-
this is going to be a hell of a lot of work!!! but with your dedication you'll get there eventually :spaceace:
-
You will be surprised ;)
This one is actually not too dificult :spaceace:
-
Wow. Pure horror to do the fur of the Kong and fix all the scratches. If anyone can do it, it's you :D
-
I appriciate all you guy's support !
But really its not that hard..
I will tell you guys a little secret.. (or a look in the kitchen is maybe better ;))
I have two big friends and theyre names are Mr. Magic wand, and Mr. Autotrace ;D
Since this one has only 4 colors and a brown background and no halftoning, its much more easy:
First take the image in photoshop and use the magic wand to select the area..
(i missed a few blue furs but these images are just for demonstration purposes..)
Then paint it black (which is easy since its selected)
After that cut it out and start Illustrator..
Paste the image and press autotrace..
Expand the trace and you got the rough vector of the image..
Which in turn does not need alot of adjustment since the scan was straight, huge and 600 Dpi :P
But yes, it still takes some time to do it and position it correctly.
-
Whoo nice work etienne
I have two big friends and theyre names are Mr. Magic wand, and Mr. Autotrace
lol
Think i need to spent some time on photoshop also some day.
Always amazed wat people do with that program.
But for now im already scared to put the cpo on the plexi.
but again nice work
Again a very big thanks to Luigi !
+1 :spaceace: :spaceace: :spaceace:
-
WOW
1 side-art set on vinyl for me please ;D
-
It's a kind of magic! ;D
You are the best Etienne! :spaceace: :spaceace: :spaceace:
-
Nice trick with the photoshop. :spaceace: :spaceace:
In addition, to avoid having to place every items separately and manually, I would suggest to separate the various parts (fur, stars, etc...) on different layers in photoshop itself.
Once it's done, save the file in .psd
Then open it in illustrator choosing the option that keeps the layers active (and doesn't flatten the artwork).
From there just autotrace it layers by layers like you're used to and adjust the colors if needed.
-
I'm impressed...so far this turns out very well (http://www.thludwig.de/pics/smilies/applause.gif)
-
Thanks Luigi,
And i think its time that i invite chris or my other friend who has more knowlegde of photoshop for a cup of coffee ;)
Seriously, i am pretty familiar in AI, but not in photoshop, so i need som teaching in that area ;D
Thanks for the explanation chris, i'll sure use it !
-
Finished the stitching today..
Positioned it in my template (https://www.dragonslairfans.com/smfor/index.php?topic=2779.msg36325#msg36325) that i created earlier based and verified on my cabinet..
Later more ;)
-
.....looks familiar.......got a deja-vu......
-
Okay guys, opinion needed..
here a shot of the grider exactly as the squares fit together:
As you can see it has a little space between it and its not "stacked" straight on top of eachother..
Here a shot in pink:
Here a shot with the "gaps filled":
And one in pink:
Here one with the squares attached to eachother without gaps:
And another one in pink:
I am in doubt, i like the tightness of the last, but the first is original...
HELP ! ;D
-
As always, I would go as much as possible for the original.

-
Thanks for the reply's so far.
While waiting, i did tackle the halftone part..
I thought there was no halftoning in this, but i was wrong :D
Anyway, its a small one that i can copy and copy and then again copy ;D
The original:
Calculated the same distance and placed some guides..
Cut the holes out, and Presto !
looking at it again, i might have better used a bit bigger dots..
well its 3 cm wide so no-one will notice it in the end i think ;)
-
i would stick to the original one as well, because this is stuff which has been stacked on top of each other, not a single mass!
-
As always, I would go as much as possible for the original.
+1
-
Okay, thank you all for your opinion.
I tended to the more perfect option, but originality wins ;)
one grider segment is vector ready:
And with a brown background it even looks better :P
(http://www.opdenkelder.com/pics/crazykong/vectoring/sideart/wip/grider/12.jpg)
Lets see whats up next ..
-
The monkey is next :P
Same procedure as explaned before, Photoshop, magic wand, paint black, cut, paste in illustrator and autotrace.
Loos like Mr monkey was at the barbershop ;D
(http://www.opdenkelder.com/pics/crazykong/vectoring/sideart/wip/monkey/01.jpg)
Next the face part..
Combined in AI..
Eyes and mouth added...
Head finished with brown background..
He looks scary doesn't he !, very mean! :P
-
Reminds me to Planet of the Apes. ;D
Btw. they made yellow teeth for that poor Gorilla. ;D
-
Btw. they made yellow teeth for that poor Gorilla. ;D
man, that's because he ate way too many bananas :P
-
The monkey complained that he felt warm, so i took out his jacket ;D
(http://www.opdenkelder.com/pics/crazykong/vectoring/sideart/wip/monkey/09.jpg)
And placed it in AI ready to trace..
I took the rough "select-paint-cut-paste-autotrace" and positioned on top of the pic.
Not too bad, only in this case too much detail that was traced... :-\
(http://www.opdenkelder.com/pics/crazykong/vectoring/sideart/wip/monkey/06.jpg)
Lets see..., select-path-simplify
Much better ! :P
(http://www.opdenkelder.com/pics/crazykong/vectoring/sideart/wip/monkey/07.jpg)
Now the annoying part, modify the curves to fit exactly on the original..
it looks like alot of work is ahead of me, but i want it to be correctly done so i will take my time for it ;)
-
Started to correct a bit of fur..
More work than i expected, but persistence is the key ;)
-
And to make things less boring, i did also some other parts... Surgery !
Tracing them is easier when amputated ;D
(http://www.opdenkelder.com/pics/crazykong/vectoring/sideart/wip/monkey/12.jpg)
Finished the patient up by putting his feet and hands back and gave them a more healthy color..
note that i need to correct the colors of the mouth and face also, they are too bright :ghost:
-
Looks like a dancing gorilla without that barrel, very interesting to follow step by step this method. :D
-
Etinenne? Is there any progress?
-
Not on this one, i am now busy with some other vector stuff (roadblasters cockpit steeringwheel emblem and another sticker run)
I do need to continue this though
-

The guy who bought Cebulba's upright has asked me if the original sideart is somewhere available....any progress in this, Etienne? :)
-
unfortunately not, busy times here...
But its not forgotten !
When i am in a more easy period, i will continue with this 8)

It looks like i need to bend and shape the ck picture a bit more... :-\
anyway, not today :D
if anybody has a better shot of the sideart, i am very interested !
Etienne, in the future we can team-up on projects like that.
You would save tons of time if you give me the dimensions of the sidepanel and I make an outline in SWX (CAD-Programm) that is 100 percent accurate and perfect in all parameters
perfect straight lines
perfect angles (what ever degree)
perfect parallelity
perfect curves and roundings
and so on.
I just checked it and found out that I can save in many formats like .jpg, .tif and so on (I can give you a list if desired) and I can set the print dimenions in mm.....
Also the dpi can be adjustet.
So, if you give me exact measurements I can make a perfect outline.
There are not many roundings in my sketches I postet along with this text as I extrude the outline to a volume-body and use another tool to break the corners but I also can make the roundings in the sketch.
This would be a much much cleaner way and would´nt cost much time for me.
We also could save the file as it can be feed in every cnc-machine that works out a perfect side-panel for people with waterdamages and of course I can render a sidepanel with or with out the artwork on it.
-
i appriciate the effort, but i have the correct outline now for zacc mini cabinets, and thats all i need for a repro of the sidearts.
i can send you the template in vector format if you like to play with it though 8)
-
Thanks Luigi,
And i think its time that i invite chris or my other friend who has more knowlegde of photoshop for a cup of coffee ;)

I was meaning for future projects.
There is a way to open vector-files (a.i.) in Solidworks so it could be possible to do it vice versa but it would also be ok as .tif with high dpi and the right height/width.
Next time you just can take 5 min to measure the sidepanel and as soon as I receive the measurements I need 5-20min for a perfect outline.
-
Sorry, there is a mistake in the picture, it is not the Karate Champ (I decided against it as it had to less roundings) but its a generic cab I own and want to convert to home-dedicated Exerion.

great :D
-
Looks awesome :)
-
great etienne, hopefully you are doing this for your own cab 8)
-
Nope, Etiènne sold his CK cab to me last year and I asked him earlier this week if it is OK that I will try to finish his side art project. He OK'ed it and I received all WIP art files yesterday. So expect updates in the coming months, but I first have to see where we are standing.
-
;)thumbs up!
-
Yup, i dont have the time myself, and i believe spinnhacker did all the vector work also, so it will be a matter of placing the parts in the correct scale ands so on, and fix some little mistakes, (not saying its bad Giulio !, its excellent work) but the black border is not there, its paint on Luigi's cabinet that i scanned..
also the yellow ornaments in that border are half covered by the black paint.
for the rest its great !
When you need help in Illustrator, let me know Erik, i am not familiar with corel.

When you need help in Illustrator, let me know Erik, i am not familiar with corel.
Thanks Etiènne, but not necessary I think. I use AI for the basic stuff, like scaling Giulio's file, grouping all the 2000+ separate vectors in logical parts (ckong, pauline, stairs, top barrel etc.). But because I'm far more familiair with CorelDraw, which handles vecors also (called curves), all other work will be done in that program.
Indees, Giulio's vector file is already awesome, but there are some smaller and larger 'issues'. For instance the top barrel needs some attention, there are some 'motion stripes' missing. Biggest work will be the griders with the halftoning part, they just don't look right in the vector file. On the other hand, the stitched scan file is also not 'perfect' (and my endresult will also have flaws :) )
So far I scaled the art, got rid of the black border, exchanged Giulio's ckong with Etiènne's ckong.
BTW, Etènne, I don't think that the vertical yellow ornaments go further on the black border, on some parts on the left side of the cabinet the black paint was missing and there is not any sign of yellow piece ornaments under it. Anyway, I will 'do' the yellow ornaments, but I will leave them out in my printfile when I'm ready to let the art print (Joeks?), I think that they are ugly and very distracting from the otherwise beautiful art. Why Zacc's artist did put hem there, I don't know?
I will post some pictures later.
-
Spot the 10 differences! (Top picture is Spinnhacker's vectorized artfile after rescaling, the bottom picture is my WIP, with usage of Spinnhacker's file and Etiènne's art en scans). The winner gets ....... ;D

So, a bit progress is made. Still some flaws in this section, for instance the right (pink coloured) side of the barrel.
-
if you need more photos, I can make some of mine ;)
-
That would be very nice. I can always use some highres good quality pictures with good non-reflecting light. :) Only one side of the cab needed. I will PM you my e-mail address.
-
Digimon, thanks for the great pictures that you made for me, they are top notch and they catch some very nice details that I will use for sure (yes, the ugly vertical yellow ornaments are a 'single line').Equally good pictures of the bottom part would be great. ;D ;D ;D
I do have a few questions:
Pauline's hear looks both greenish and yellow. Is it a mix of two colors?
The dark color in the head of CK (face, forehead and mouth, is it black or is it the background color >>

All the dark color in the fur of CK, black or background color? >>

Thanks again mate.
-
Pauline's hear looks both greenish and yellow. Is it a mix of two colors?
the hair has the same color as the stars (a touch of lemongreen), there are only three objects with real yellow:
the two wood of the two barrels
the middle of the flow underneath the stars below of Pauline
The dark color in the head of CK (face, forehead and mouth, is it black or is it the background color >>
there is no black at all. everything dark is the background.
I have added new details to my answers to the dropbox;-)

Some body parts of poor Pauline, ready to be vectorized, which will clean up all of the messy lines shown.

Digimon, did you buy it from Thorsten ?
-
my cab with the sideart?
no I have it for three years (nearly), And it's the home for my Jump Bug ;D
my other Crazy Kong Cab is near to factory new, but with starsplash from factory..
-
ah ok
-
Wow, vectorizing the CK art is consuming more time then I expected. But it's fun to do, and educational. :) I was hoping to pick already done pieces here and there, but it turns out that I will vectorize almost every part of the art. Two exceptiona are the monkey and Mario. Etiènne did a great job on The Ape, I only had to add the pink belly spots. And Spinnhacker made a very nice vectorized Mario, I will only need to adjust the shoes a bit and one hand. Stuff that is finished:
- the uppert part of the art (stars and stripes)
- the lower part of the art (blocks, stars and stripes)
- the vertical yellow ornaments on the edges of the cab (and that I don't like)
- both barrels
- Pauline
- The stars and stripes below and around Pauline
- the ladders
Anyway, thanks to the original scan images from Etiènne I was able to restitch Pauline properly and redo her. This is Pauline in original condition:
(http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f307/ckong65/Crazy%20Kong/Pauline%20analog_zpsdbjl0gb5.png) (http://s50.photobucket.com/user/ckong65/media/Crazy%20Kong/Pauline%20analog_zpsdbjl0gb5.png.html)
And this is Pauline, digitally 'Remastered':
(http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f307/ckong65/Crazy%20Kong/Pauline%20Remastered_zps4hfbv3mp.png) (http://s50.photobucket.com/user/ckong65/media/Crazy%20Kong/Pauline%20Remastered_zps4hfbv3mp.png.html)
Pretty good. Don't mind the colors, they are not final yet.
-
Looks fantastic, great job! :spaceace:
-
nice job! :)

Barrels finished (color needs still some adjustments)

Analog Mario:

Digital Mario, completely vectorized (now Mario really can grow and shrink as he pleases):
(http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f307/ckong65/Crazy%20Kong/Mario%20new_zpsa9f2o0si.png) (http://s50.photobucket.com/user/ckong65/media/Crazy%20Kong/Mario%20new_zpsa9f2o0si.png.html)
And the yellow 'art' stripes on the side are also a bunch of vector lines.
-
not bad at all Erik ! :spaceace:
-
Thanks, Master! :) :spaceace:

Almost done >

starting to come together ! sweet !
but....
i think you need to recolor the rest of the blue, or the ape, they don't look like the same blue and the Original was all the same blue..
in fact i think they only used 4 colors; Cyan, Magenta and Yellow (or variants of them) on a brown background.
oh and skin color for the belly, feet and mario and paulines skin and the inside of the barrels.
-
Yes, I know. I mentioned earlier that the colors are not final yet, I'm concentrating at vectorizing and placing first. :)
-
Did the griders. Artwork is now 100% vectorized. Colors are also better than before (color profiles and managing colors in AI, I don't like it). Need to add an extra margin of about 1 cm all around and then it should be ready for the printer. Now I can start working on the other side. :)
-
Awesome work !
Still wonder what that Italian guy who drew up this artwork was smoking.... ;D ;D
-
looking awesome Erik
isn't the other side just a mirrored image of this one?
-
looking awesome Erik
isn't the other side just a mirrored image of this one?
Oh, really? ;) ;D
-
Need some input. The side art of CK originally is done with stencils (I suppose) and it has it's flaws, see for instance the attached picture where the right part of the middle grider is not in line (I added a straight line to Etiènne's scanned image to show what I mean). I 'included' this flaw, and others, in my vector file (again, see attached picture). Should I leave it that way, or should I straighten it out?
-
Keep the flaws !
Makes a repro look more original. It's like with the Berzerk side-art, they clearly "randomly" positioned the masks during painting, resulting in every Berzerk side art being a little bit different :)
-
other side, just invert this and mirror it, done
-
I finalized it today, changed the vector file and all of its layers to CYMK color codesand adjusted the colors to match the original ones as close as possible. I gave the final draft file to The Master and if he gives his OK (after all, he started the project many, many moons ago), then the artwork will be send to the printer.
-
look fantastic:)
do you use two yellow colors?
-
do you use two yellow colors?
No, only one.
-
Amazing job. I'm intersted as well to put this on my Zacc.
-
do you use two yellow colors?
No, only one.
There is a second yellow (in the barrels and in the middle of the last stage (under the stars)
the normal yellow is little more green. (you can see them flow together in the middle of the last stage )
-
Are you sure? I attached a picture of the area that you mean, I think. The 'greenish' yellow, is yellow paint, but put on very light so the brown background shines through, making it a bit 'greenish'.
The other yellow in the image is also yellow, but has a pink background, making it a bit off. The same effect happens at the barrels and the upper part of ckong's mouth,
Anyway, both colors are hard to pick from an image, so I leave it at one yellow color. I'm pretty sure that the workers at the Zaccaria plant did also only use one yellow color
-
Maybe you are right, it's just an effect of two colors mixed up.
I can scan the colorcode if you like?
-
..... I can scan the colorcode if you like?
Yes, please. 8) 8) And if you feel like scanning the other colors too .... :)
-
Although I like the vectorized side art so far, I still think that the colors and color edges are too 'clean'. So I'm playing with transparancy and color overflow a bit in AI, to get a more authentic look. So far I added 90% transparancy to the yellow vertical lines beneath Pauline and 95% to her hair color. And 94% to the background color of the barrels. It looks already better IMO.
-
Allright here is another scan of a piece of the original artwork .....
Oh no, I'm wrong, it's a testprint that Joeks made of the vectorized art. ;D I asked Barry to do a small testprint so that I could check the colors. I know that I will never get a 100% match with the real 'NOS' sideart colors, but they are pretty close, IMO. 8)
What do you 'Zaccaria' guys think?
Anyway, Barry did a great job with this testprint, it's printed on glossy vinyl with a gloss laminate, if I'm correct. Barry? And the vinyl is very strong and cratch resistant.
-
NM.

Yes printed on glossy vinyl with gloss laminate. Trying to match the Universal and Zaccaria cabinet lacquered finish :)
You did a real good job vectorizing the artwork btw!
-
:) :spaceace:
-
Looks like perfect in colors and in materials also, great job. ;) :spaceace:
-
Very nice work
-
Thanks.
After seeing the actual test print from Joeks I changed the skin color of the 3 main characters a bit. I thought that they were a bit too light, too yellow-ish. This is the new result and probably the final version.
OK, now that Joeks is going to print a set for my cab, are therer any more takers? The costs are very reasonable and it will take Joeks less time if he can do a few in one batch.
Anybody?
-
I want a set depending on the cost
I’m low on cash atm
-
Costs for 1 set of gloss laminated side art (2 sides) is €90.
Size is approx. 75cm x 165cm
-
I mailed Joeks the final artfiles this morning and he went at it right away, printing in progress >>
Awesome, Barry! :spaceace:
-
Awesome work guys!!
-
Looks Great.
-
Hell, yeah! 8)

I'm going to visit the (Dutch) National Videogame Museum in Zoetermeer tomorrow, for the first time, so I needed a new T-shirt. And because I still love my Crazy Kong cab, I thought this design would be appropriate >
-
Way to go man.Enjoy and don’t forget to proof you where there. :)

Nice shirt !!

Wow!
Amazing, I am jealous.

Fantastic, size "L" please. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

So today is the day that I received the final artwork. :spaceace:
It's looking beautiful, this will be a nice project for the coming months and I hope to have the cabinet completely finished by the end of winter.
Thx Barry (joeks), you did a great job printing and laminating this artwork. :spaceace:

Wow, this looks like a perfect match :) :spaceace:
LOL, it is. ;D ;D I spend hours and hours (re)drawing it and picking colours etc. BTW, my wife doesn't know that, so hush hush. :)

Hmm, the woman looks upset, Mario has some ass bake in his face, only crazy kong looks happy :-D

Looks awesome, well done! ;)
