Title: ## Begium Road Trip # Quest for After Burner from SEGA !
Post by: DarthNuno on August 19, 2007, 08:36:51 PM
This time, it gonna be very easy  8)  ...

I'm preparing my 'weapon'    :

... very similar to this one isn't it  :?:

...ok, so like it said... it will be a very easy roadtrip this time ... coz the seller is really close to my house, check it out :

... 12 km to go, thank my lord  8)

The usual pictures... for history

Do you notice... 36 Celsius... a world record in Belgium !!!

... as fast as the F14  Tomcat... sorry for the picture 'fast motion'

... and 20 minutes later, we are 'on location' :

SO, I"m here for an After Burner upright dedicated cab  :P

Let's check the F14 simulator, made by Sega in 1987

The game in working, the force feed back is ok, but the two red lights on top and the 'lock' light don't work. The side art on the right is complete.

The right side art is damaged as you can see on the following picture :

... but it's ok for me. Deal !  I've to save that cabinet !!!

By the way, I didn"t check If that After Burner cab can be loaded into my car... boah... that cab seems to have a common size...

...a quick picture, for my sponsor

Let's load it :

...ops... it's bigger then expected ...  :?

Holy Jesus    'cannot close ...  :?

What if I push the seat to the max ?

...it's ok now but ...

...impossible to drive like that of course !!!

Fortunately my wife is much 'thiner' then I, so she'll drive

... and 25 minutes later, we are *safe at home, with a new toy in the kitchen  :

Next step : clean that baby, and fix the lights   8)

Stay TuNed

DarthNuno:  I beat you to it by some seconds!

I've been following your progress since you started building your Nuno lair (gameroom). Now that you are starting to drag more machines into your kitchen, living room and so on..
Are you planning to build a bigger gameroom?  :D

Any luck locating side art for this?  I have a chance to pick up an After Burner II, but it has no side art at all.  If I can't find artwork, I'll hold off for a better cab.

I've got last year ... only 1 side  The left one

I'll scan it soon, and give it to the masters of vectors  ;)

I hope I'll able to found the other one too  :?

When you going to scan it ? I'd be interested in creating the file ASAP (I know of other AB cabs without any sideart)

Someone on CoinOpSpace has access to a NOS set of both sides and is going to scan them.  Hopefully this will happen.

Woow, that's a fantastic news, thanks Spyridon  :-*

I've seen side arts damaged on *almost* all After Burner cockpits  :-[ ... this repro will be very useful to a lot of us  :)

Looking back at the posts, I think the guy over on CoinOpSpace that was talking about scaning the artwork is the same Dexter from this site.

Dex is that correct?

P.S. I'm picking up my AB II this week, so I'd love to see this artwrok scanned.

Not yet  :-\ ... I'll drop a mail to CoinOpSpace. I'm sure a lot of collectors are looking for these side arts, because I see 'side art' problems on almost all After Burner upright cabinet pictures on the web...
