Title: A nice add to the Zaccaria collection
Post by: Belike on May 11, 2011, 06:01:09 PM
Last week Ully posted a link (http://cgi.ebay.de/Videospielautomaten-Platinen-Bastler-/260779861825?pt=Automaten&hash=item3cb7b0e741) to our "cabs on ebay" section about a Zaccaria cab and some other stuff.
The seller listed a Super Cobra!!!, a cocktail table, a mysterious wall machine and some other parts in one auction and as I'm also looking for a nice cocktail for a while, I couldn't miss this opportunity. ;D
It was not too much interest for the lot, I thought it will be gone around 150-200 eur, but at the end it stopped on 62. ;D ;D ;D
Ully was so kind and offered his help in the pickup, but my Gf was faster, she arranged a transport in no time for a fantastic price. The auction ended last Sunday and I received the whole stuff today. ;D ;D ;D
First of all the mysterious wall machine:
It's a self made cabinet with an original Up'n Down Sega pcb
(https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/_-UA8BV99Des/TcquEPrHexI/AAAAAAAADUg/uR3kw0HWELw/s800/Cobra%20transport%20003.jpg)
I turned it on, but nothing happened, monitor was blind psu didn't operate.

In the item description, there was something about a broken fuse, so I started to investigate that and found the blown one.
Second try and the pcb started to work, I can hear the sounds from the game, it is similar with the C64 version, it brings back nice memories. :D
The monitor still doesn't work, but it's a Hantarex mtc 900, so it won't be a challenge to repair the chassis, the tube seems like ok to me.

The second one is a very nice japanese cocktail, there is no pcb in it, but looks complete.

I found this sheet in the cab, seems like it was a Sega Space Attack or a Head On (or 2 in1)

There was also an Electrohome monitor in the lot, but the tube had a broken neck, so I removed the chassis and dumped the rest.
The seller mentioned, that there is also 5 pcbs for these cabinets, but that was not true, these are Bally and Zaccaria pinball pcbs, mostly soundboards
(https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/_-UA8BV99Des/TcqtUOYhsSI/AAAAAAAADSY/vrkMvymD4NY/s800/Cobra%20transport%20018.jpg)

I also received a Taito bezel, which was not the part of the auction, I guess it's some kind of a surprise ;D
(https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/_-UA8BV99Des/TcqtWQVac_I/AAAAAAAADSw/UOwT9i6wE9A/s800/Cobra%20transport%20008.jpg)
Any ideas which game is this? ???
And I saved the best for last, ladies and gentelman, here it is, Super Cobra with the bended marquee and space station sidearts:

It has the original cpo with the chopper, not the Scramble style:

Hope you also rescued the yoke from that broken CRT.

Plus the rubber wedges.

Plus the convergence strips.

The Zacc cab is worth that money alone, all the rest is bonus ;) Nice catch...wish I had a GF like that for arranging transports for me ;) ;)  ;D

I was almost sure, that the original pcb won't be present and I was right, it's converted to Lady Bug.(who was that idiot) ;D
(https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/_-UA8BV99Des/TcquD8K067I/AAAAAAAADUY/KnJaVvBTDs0/s800/Cobra%20transport%20010.jpg)

I turned it on, the game started, but the screen was also blind.
Another investigation followed in the chassis, some blown fuses replaced and here we go (handy pics, the screen is perfect)
And with flash, you can see a nice star destroyer with the Lady Bug, insane lol ;D
(https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/_-UA8BV99Des/Tcqsw6nrEyI/AAAAAAAADR0/FSYm3NEKxfg/s800/20110511218.jpg)

Now the only thing I need is a Lady Bug to Konami classic adapter for my Super Cobra pcb. ;D

was that an electrohome go7 cbo? if that's the case, would you consider trading it for my spare defender chassis?

Gustav Lauser is a german videogame distributor, it's like AVG, I think Ully can tell more about him.

great catch, bela, glad i could help you out with your zaccaria mission! and what a price ...

The seller mentioned, that there is also 5 pcbs for these cabinets, but that was not true, these are Bally and Zaccaeia pinball pcbs, mostly soundboards

funny that the seller told me that when the three cabinets were working, he was swapping the 5 pcbs between them - i wonder how that is supposed to have worked with soundboards and pinball pcbs in video game cabinets :D

@ Ully: Beautiful cabinet! Wanna get rid of it? ;)

for now, i'm keeping all my games, but if i'm not able to find a house / shed / whatever large enough to house all of them (which i hopefully will), i will have to sell off parts of my collection eventually. but i'm afraid i'd have to ask you 100 times more than i originally paid for the cab - which was ONE EURO ;D (an ebay auction that obviously noone noticed or seemed to be interested in)

thx a lot, bela, i'm missing one and this will come in handy. i'll have to check the condition of my stratovox bezel and if it's worse than yours, i'll have to make you an offer you can't resist. for now, thx again for the chassis offer, please put it aside for eurocade & mark it with a big U ;D.

I actually forgot maybe the most important, the convergence rings :)

Here's a pic:

To get this stuff, in this case because of the broken neck, wear some gloves for your protection.

Unscrew the screw that I indicate with the green arrow. No need to completely remove it, just loosen it a couple of turns to the clamp is fully loose. Try to remove it by sliding it up the neck.
Then do the same with the convergence rings. These may be glued together, which is OK leave that. If they are glued to the neck of the tube, remove the glue.
Be very careful as these rings are very brittle !

Now pull on the rubber wedges. They're glued to the tube (not to the yoke). Wiggle and pull a bit, don't worry the tube is strong at that spot (only the neck is weak).
The should come loose pretty easy.

Now, using both hands try to turn the yoke around a bit while pulling it up.. In theory ( ;) ) it should move up slowly. If anything is really blocking it's movement check for glue or maybe some extra screw (shouldn't be there, but I'm not exactly sure about this yoke...

Once you've got the yoke off, you can pull of the convergence strips. They are also glued with the same stuff as the rubber wedges.

If you don't dare to do it, no problem, it's not that I really need the parts, but they may come in handy for any use in the future (for you...or me, whatever you prefer ;)

These parts are getting harder and harder to find and who knows you may need them one day ;)

Just a shame to throw it all away with the tube :)

the pinout of the bootleg mentiones a 22 pin connector instead of a 28 pin connector..

http://www.mikesarcade.com/cgi-bin/spies.cgi?action=url&type=pinout&page=LadyBugBL.txt (http://www.mikesarcade.com/cgi-bin/spies.cgi?action=url&type=pinout&page=LadyBugBL.txt)

and that logo looks genuine to me, so i don't think its a boot and you have a original Board there..

don't be fooled by another look of the board, that could be a revision issue; here two different boards from my crazy kong, both original Falcon..

and what about the double boardset that Muerto has, also Original Falcon, and looks totally different too:

I justed took a look at his website, very impressive! I still prefer other brands/style of cab's but i must admit they are kinda special.
I like Astro Wars, Space Pirate and Forgger the most.

I will surely scan it, no probs. ;)

BTW Level42 you said you played Up n' Down on the c64. If you remember loading the game from tape then you might remember this.
