thanks all !

it started to rain here, so in an hearthbeat, i decided to go back home during my lunchtime (30km back & forth). As i can not put the cab in the garage alone, it's a stone path pretty steep (Ully can testimony), hopefully
i got beside the house a small roof to protect my heater wood. I quickly put the cab under. No choice but to leave him in the humidity :<

more tonight ;)

Unfortunalty, i can not find anyone to help to bring it inside ,not even a friendly neightbour :( so I got no choice to leave it outside for this night.

And to add up,the ex owner of my house broke into my garden and rob the kid's swing.. So I needed to complains to the police and check for witnesses.

If you wonder why I post so early,it s not that I couldn't sleep having the cab outside, but I have to pickup a relatives in Brussels airport... But still I checked the cab :):):)

it's my wife'aunt from new jersey coming for my son's 1st bday, 60 years old and 1,4 meter tall , definetly not the body for our hobby  ;D ;D ;D

I finaly succeeded to get the smgp cab inside, as it was no way it'd spend another night outside. So thanks to a great neightbour who came to the rescue and my brother in law (level42: it's my buddy for the powerdrift rt ).Unfortunalty i forgot my digital cam at my dad's house last easter, so pictures are taken with a crap cam. No pictures of the transfert to the garage , as our 6 arms were all busy :)

so gentlemen , here's my austiran beauty  :)

overall in really great condition, i didn't turned it on yet because of her crazy humid night out yesterday, and i still need to change the power plug (seems we are the only contry with round plug requiring a ground pin). Level42 don't forget that for Eurocade :)

thanks again Ully to make a dream comes true (c) disney   :D

....which shows he's a bad salesman, as he should have politely help him....who knows, maybe he was coming back for a Testarossa after the McDonalds and was he "testing" the salesman :P

I first thought that "marquee" (it's cool by the way) was a gold color, but I guess it used to be white ? There is an explanation to "fight" that yellowing somewhere on the internet....don't have the link right here...

Indeed a good tip about that Krousti, had forgotten. It has annoyed me several times when I was either in Belgium working on machines or buying machines from Belgium to try them here....I remember a certain warehouse raid ;)

Anyway, as long as you use these kind of plugs:

on your machine you can use them everywhere in Europe (except some strange islands of the coast of course :P :P :P ;) ;) ;))

Only Belgium and France still have that strange extra grounding pin....time to UNIFY friends ! :D

No, it should be white (maclaren marlboro colours). if i want to get it white, i'll have to destroy the stickers (paint or i need to dip it in a chimic bath) :<

EDIT : just noticed the post of lonewolf, the plastic recover product is retr0bright  http://retr0bright.wikispaces.com/ (http://retr0bright.wikispaces.com/)

I never saw any artwork on the net available, it'll be a gud opportunity ;)

but having a ground is supposed to be better, so we are high tech ;)

About the yellow marquee : same problem for me.

Is that yellowed marquee made out of plastic? If so, you could try your hands at "Retr0bright". It's a simple household chemicals mixture developed by a few retro-computer guys who have been looking for a way to reverse the yellowing of their old Commodores and Amigas. But you can use it for almost any kind of yellowed plastic, varying from old computers to toys (like Transformers) and LEGO bricks....

Explanation, recipe and how-to here: http://retr0bright.wikispaces.com/

And this is an example of the result:

If it would be for a commercial product I'd say they'd stained that one with coffee a bit extra....

It is impressive. But then again, Commodore's obviously weren't only sucky in quality on the inside, but also on the outside.

@ChrisChris, yeah, with the "speed" of the 1541 floppy drive, you could have loads of fun like that in the mean time until your game was loaded....

@Laschek: Yeah but the ST was designed by the guys who did the C64..... ;D ;D ;D ;D

I don't want to derail the thread so no more A8 vs. C64 war here.....

Buzzzz, wrong, the C64 and the Amiga are ENTIRELY different generation machines. Impossible to compare.

What _is_ interesting is that the A8 line was launched in 1979. The VIC-20 was released in 1980 and was vastly in-superior to the A8 series.

The C64 was launched in 1982. 3 years were something like eternity.....the developments were lighting fast in those days.

Just imagine, the A8 series was launched only a year after Space Invaders in the arcades.
The C64 was released when games like SW were being developed !!
Still, the A8 could easily compete with the C64.

The ONLY parts that were better on the C64 were the SID chip (although I personally do not like it's sound) and the number of sprites. It couldn't even produce over 16 colors (256 an the A8) and.....
O damn....now I _DID_ start derailing this thread :)

You're just jealous because the C64 was a LOT more succesfull  ;D

However, despite it's supposed superiority, Atari's too can get very yellowed:

i did actually have this model, and liked it externally more than the breadbox BTW.

Numbers =/ succes for me. Succes for me is a machine I am happy with. I don't give much about what others think. The thing is that I always judge MYSELF instead of running behind what "everyone" buys.... ;)

That is clearly photoshopped.
;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D Of course, ALL plastics from those days had the fire-retardents in them that cause this discoloring, only some more than others.
O well, luckily enough, the aluminum housing of my iMac will never discolor ;) And it doesn't need fire-retardents:

I promise this is my last post on the subject but I just found another evidence that chicks definitely dig the C64.
Here's a (soft) picture of the TRON porn version in which you can obviously see a nice lady + not one but TWO C64  ;)
