Title: On Sale: Paul 50s Mario Bros. Widebody Cabinets
Post by: Superully on March 18, 2011, 03:37:10 PM
ok guys, just recently i bought one of paul's cabinets and he asked me whether he should put another game on the shipping palette (two fit on one). i had already tried to get one of his mario bros widebody cabinets last year, but we couldn't agree on a price. now he has made me an offer for all four remaining mario bros. widebody cabinets because he wants them gone to make space for new stuff, so here it is:

Mario Bros. Widebody for 350 EUROS a piece (plus shipping)!!!

I was going to take one nevertheless, but we only get the special price of 350 euros per piece if we take all four of them. So if you're interested, please reply here or drop me a personal message!

While the games are not in the best condition (mildly put), please note that all games are working (and complete), but two of them have a monitor issue (which could be an easy fix like on bruno's popeye). This is first come, first serve, so if you really want to have one, now is the time to act! That's 350 euros for a Nintendo cabinet - imho a nice price, regardless of the cabs' condition!

wow, that's a very good price, thanks for sharing the info Ully  ;)
I 'regretfully' cannot be on this (money are going to the V3 construction atm). Too bad, because it's a very good opportunity to own one...

Mmmm, something tells me it might depend on where you want it to be shipped.

I think it's an OK price. In some time (not saying when though) my MB stuff will be for sale. I think only the game PCB will be valuable for the wide-boddies though.
MB should be in a wide body. Playing it side by side on a regular Nintendo cab is simply not doable with big adult men.... :)

as written above, the last widebody has been taken by robo - no more mario bros widebody. one going to speleo, one to chris, one to robo and one to myself. still available are the blue super mario bros (€350) and the kongs, but those are more expensive. also available all the other games listed above - still waiting to hear back from paul!

Well the bout are a a head to head figting game and thats about it. Sf is a 2d game whit 6 buttons and is based around controlling space and finding a opening in the other players deafens. Also ervy char has crazy moves like trowing fireballs ore very long limbs. So it isnt realistic. Virtual fighter is a 3d game based on real moves and has only 3 buttons. The combat system is based on long juggles that means getting you opponent of the ground so the cant block and the keep them up there.

The are just as  as pacman and crush and roller. bout maze games but totally different.

no interest if its a virtual fighter. that really isn't my cub of thee

You think the sux. If you dont like it that doesn't means the game sux. You probably got your ass whipt by a 5 year old 1 time.

Street Fighter II is an arcade classic. It was the first important one on one fighting game, with nice drawn characters, and has legendary status till today. It was SF II who paved the way for a lot of one on one fighting arcade games.
Virtua Fighter was a short hype because of the 3D animated fighting characters, but didnt became as big as SF II was.
For 150 I would have bought the SF II immediately.

I think they suck too.

SF, VF, MK, I'd make a nice campfire out of the wood of those cabs. They were another reason for me to completely loose interest in arcade games....

The weird thing is that I do like Soul Calibur on the Dreamcast.....yes I admit it :

i understand that some people here hate the fighting games. But i also think the didn't gave the game a fair chance. Fighting games are know for steap learning curves. And when you talk about classic fighting games its just insane. If the people who hate fighting games would take a little bit of time of learning the game mechanics and the strategic behind them i think the wouldn't hate them any more. Maybe say isnt my genre but the hate would be gone.

SF II is an awesome & classic game for an entire generation, you like it or not, but you can't denied that fact. It defines the style  8)
For few people, our favorite classic  games suck too... but we can live with that, can't we?  ;)
So in a general way, I avoid to say thinks suck... I prefer to say 'I don't like'  ;)
I prefer blue than red!! Who can't prove I'm wrong here? A matter of taste... that's it  8)

Just like in Germany, Christmas came earlier in Belgium too this year...

...and Santa had a new kind of snow sled:

few presents but huuuuge ones this year:

mmmh, no beard, no "makes you look superfat" red costume...weird:

As you all can see, I've been VERY good in 2011, hence the gigantic presents:

After some unwrapping in the pure "nintendo sixty-fouuuuuuuur kid" style,
here are the stars of the day:

Centipede, proudly displaying one of the most badass sideart ever made
(https://www.dragonslairfans.com/~chrischris/arcade/transweb/L1130027.jpg)

Mario Bros. Wide Body, I tried the best I could, believe me, but I definitely couldn't pass on this offer:

...and of course as in every Christmas unwrapping there's a (sort of) Christmas tree as you can see on the pic above.

Everything is on temporary location so I couldn't test anything.
(More on the cabs in the background pretty soon as I now have a bit more time on my hands.)

Thanks Ully, Paul and all the DLFers involved in this pretty smooth group buy.
It will sure be fun to restore our Mario cabs on parallel and post the results here.
...yayyy, my first real resto! go go go!

A US Centi eh, now those are pretty rare in Europe....

You have to bring the CP to Eurocade so we can FINALLY do a one-on-one picture to see about the CPO colors !!!!

my games arrived 2 weeks ago and they are in decent shape as well, pcbs are working but monitors needs at least a full recap and probably a new flyback (anybody knows where to find a flyback replacement for sanyo chassis?) and then cpo and side arts needs to be replaced of course. thanks ully, paul and the other guys for this opportunity.

Now we are talking!!

I decided to go the cheap way for the sidearts repro (download via vectorlib and print it locally).
I'll post pics of the result once I'll receive them.
The ones from Phoenixarcade were definitely too expensive for me atm (though probably much nicer 'cause nothing beats silkscreen).

I'm still up for the CPO group buy  ;)
Thanks!

UPDATE: I'm also interested in a T-molding group buy, let's PM.

cpo I already got it because I had an order going on some days ago, the t-molding I am buying it from twisted quarter if there's no better idea.
what about the one that looks the same-same, is it still available somewhere?

If you are going to convert it to a dk i might be interested in the Super Mario Bros PPU and chips. That way i''ll be able to have one board with super mario and ice climber.

we are already at 180! that's quick...anybody else interested? who's going to do the order? I could do it but I am in italy. by the way I would also be interested in a group buy for silk screened side arts, eventually I could have all the stuff shipped here and redirect the single parcels to the FNGU (final nintendo game user). so who's interested in what? not sure if this could be intelligent to save some money, depends also on the declaired value and italy is not famous for having mercyful customs...nor efficient postal services...

i would take over the t-molding order, but i'm not sure if it is price-efficient to have it first sent over to germany and then to europe. all the other guys are either in germany or i will see you at eurocade (or earlier), so i don't know whether it is a wise decision for robo to jump onboard.

what do you think?

as for the sideart: mine is in very good to ok condition, so i won't be ordering it!

I'm interested in 20ft too for my MB WB.
I was thinking of having the parts shipped to somebody who goes to Eurocade so I could retrieve it there.
Anyway as long as it arrives not too far from Belgium, I'm also OK to pick it up on location (and have an arcade chat).
Italy is too far for me, sorry Robotype  :-\

fortunately, all my nintendo cabinets are made of plywood, so normal true flat t-molding is ok for me! but thx for the reminder, as far as i know, Mr President was the only one with a particle wood / offset t-molding cab

ok, let me sum this up:

- Speleo: 20 ft
- Chris: 20 ft
- PunkRockCaveman: 20 ft
- Robotype: 80 ft
- Superully (moi): 60 ft

That's a total of 200 feet. Anyone else wanna jump on board?

@Robo: have you decided / checked yet whether you want to order this alone and have it sent to your place directly?
@Chris: are you ok with me ordering it?

I am waiting for a quote from chompingquarters, I think I will have it shipped directly here as I am not sure I can make it to eurocade and also I would like to fix my games soon since scr33n is insisting to offer his precious help.
