Still the batteries cover on it ... and hey ::) See the LEGO(tm) custom sticker ... I was to have a good reason at the time to have stuck it, so I leave it ;D :arrow:

Ok, let's try it... more than 25 or 27 years later ::) ... ouchhh :shock: :arrow:

Mhhh... battery acid damage and/or rust there :oops: mmhhh, maybe I should try to power up with an AC adapter first. What should I need in order to input the same voltage than this?! :arrow:
(https://www.dragonslairfans.com/handheld/twinvader/Twinvader3_13.jpg)
4 x 1,5 = a 6V ac adapter than? Anyway, I do not have one right here...
So, let's see inside the beast :

Ok, I'll try first to clean all the battery contacts... let's remove them :

...and try to remove the rust/acid? in the usual bath :

Let's wait few hours now... 8)

Hey Brono,
How's that book I see in the photo's. Can you make some shots of the pages inside?
Thanks!

Nice restoration, can't wait the result! ;D

Hey Bruno I remember this handheld ... now I want to see it working :spaceace:

I'm sure you'll ask about this ok ::) ;)
I had this book, long long time ago (27 years ago to be exact)... and finally I lost it... until few weeks ago, I've found it (a second hand one of course) on amazon France. Here's for example 2 pages :

Looks interesting isn't it? ::) :P
The French title of this book is : "Comment jouer avec son ordinateur et sa video" ... and ... its written by an English guy : Ian Graham and so, there's an English version :arrow:

But what title.....in English. Looks pretty fun.

The last link in your posting is a question mark for me. When I click the image does appear though, hadn't done that....

The initial picture works for me, but not a problem André, that is the reason I've uploaded the picture on this server, so I'm sure the cover will stay on this post 8)
Yes, the book is very fun, especially the last part when they try to anticipate the future games in 20 years (so today) ;D I'll post a picture tomorrow if you want ;)
-
That would be great ! ;D
And yes, I'm a bit tired after playing LOADS of pinball machines today :D

OMG that yellow one on the bottom right of the book cover... I had it!
I bought it in a TANDY store in Belgium back in the days... aaah tandy stores, always cheap cool stuff there for a kid.
I remember that this game was easy (and made me look like a super player) because the invaders were always arriving exactely the same way ;)
I have to find it back now. It's my new mission.

Guess I have it double in a few weeks. I let you know when I can miss one.
-
Wow thanks! Yes, please do. :) :)
I just checked quickly and it's not that easy to find.

Back on topic please ::)
Remember last week, I put all the battery support in a 'remove rust' bath :arrow:
(https://www.dragonslairfans.com/handheld/twinvader/Twinvader3_12.jpg)
Holy shit... because this week was a crazy one for me (road trip' ... job extra hours...), I completely forgot that I had this 'bath' on the way :oops:
Here's the result this morning :arrow:
(https://www.dragonslairfans.com/handheld/twinvader/Twinvader3_14.jpg)
Half of the 'material' is gone ???
Who is the culprit of this error? The acid damage and/or a too long bath (almost one week)?
My only hope for playing back this game now is the power adapter :-\

Holy shit... , I completely forgot that I had this 'bath' on the way :oops:
ha, welcome to the club, bruno, i though i was the only idiot ;) :P! on monday i put four coin insert / return frames into the rust bath. there was NOT a lot of rust on them, so 1 or 2 hours max would have sufficed, but i totally forgot about them until yesterday. took them out and they were halfway gone >:( :'(. i could have kicked myself for not writing a note or setting an egg timmer, but what's done is done. hopefully this means LESSON LEARNED for me and luckily my parts can be replaced pretty easily, but i totally understand how you must feel!
-
So bye bye the battery usage :oops: ...but fortunately... it still works with a power adapter, thanks God :-* :-* :-*
After my first test, I notice the controls (left/right buttons) don't respond all the time. It's time for a little clean up ;) Yeah it's dirty here ::) :arrow:
(https://www.dragonslairfans.com/handheld/twinvader/twinvader_actronics_1.jpg)
A little bit of alcohol and it looks far better now. Hey, Notice the board labeled with other games "Pac Man" and "Challenge Racer". In addition you can see they putted also UP/DOWN direction, not usable for this game...
(https://www.dragonslairfans.com/handheld/twinvader/twinvader_actronics_2.jpg)
Ok, let's clean also the 'outside' of the game... and as you will see, it's still in great condition!
(https://www.dragonslairfans.com/handheld/twinvader/twinvader_actronics_3.jpg)
What I like the most here, is the fact that game is coming right ways from my youth :P I mean not only that model, but THAT specific game I used to play long time ago :-*

Great cleanup. I have to post my latest clinsing work here too.
Today I got the book above from Amazon, in English. 1 ct excl. Shipment! Woot! I had an enormous deja-vu. We must have had this one in Dutch in our library as a kid. Those graphics are easy to remember. I also dug up the other book from Usborne in a box with my old books, about the Micro, but then in Dutch, under the name "INPUT" as gift for Spaarbank clients. I was again triggered by the Invader characters, I knew there was a book somewhere in the house with those graphics.
