Title: GREAT video, assembly of a San Fransisco Rush cab...
Post by: level42 on March 13, 2010, 06:11:38 PM
I'm a great fan of www.atarigames.com

There is SO much great stuff ALL about the Atari we all love.

Here's the newest video, luckily they put it up on youtube this time:

http://www.atarigames.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=225:sf-rush-cabinet-assembly-video&catid=10:other-video-game-related-videos&Itemid=2

The look of the base very much reminds me of the SW cockpit base, it's very similar.

I wonder what tool that is that guy uses in the very end to apply the T-molding. My guess is that it's heating it (and maybe does more ?)

Anyway, do we agree that the one guy doing the work looks a lot like a famous Nintendo hero ?

Great stuff I love it !

Woow! Great video, thanks  :-*

This cabinet seems very complex to build... I mean there are so many operations... Everything seems to be 'hand made', one by one
It doesn't really look like a factory, but more like a private workshop...
Do you know how many cockpits are built per day?

Great movie, Mario and Luigi doing SFR.  :D

Astonishing how many parts are involved.

Indeed, you rarely realize that it takes so much work. Of course, SFR is a later generation and quite elaborate cab, but the basics have been about the same ever since Atari stopped producing the glass-fiber cabs I guess.)

I wonder how many they made in a day....

Did you notice that the cab got sprayed with the artwork already on the cab. Maybe some read it in my SW cockpit thread on BYOAC, but when I bought (and fist played) my SW cockpit I noticed something in the picture, like a bit of "cloudy" stuff. When I moved my head, I could see that it wasn't on the CRT itself but on the plexi bezel: there was black spray paint on it !
Could be the plexi already has been in there during painting...

Don't tell me that you cleaned the plexi bezel, the paint residu was an original feature.  :o
You better put it back on. If you need a hand, call me

Wow, great video!
I think the T-mold tool is hammering it on... with compressed air..
