I just wanted to ask the experts(you guys ;D), what do you think about monitor burns. Will you replace the burned monitors, even if it could be seen only if the cabinet is switched off?I mean if it doesn't disturbing during gameplay, and you can't see anything about burns ??? in switched on mode.
-
Normally I don't. Especially not with vectors for obvious reasons.
-
if the monitor works, and the burn is not annoying you, why should you replace it ?
i would do it only if broken, or that the burn is so much that it disturbs the game
-
Thanks for your replys, I thought the same, but didn't know what the real pro collectors do. ;D
-
i dont know that eather ;D im not a pro :D
-
i'm not a pro either, but i wouldn't replace a monitor with burn-in unless it was totally unbearable (or unless i had hundreds of NOS monitors)!

No, not needed in this case.

I'm a big fan of 'burn in' monitor ::)
In my Galaxian cabinet for example, I've used a TV instead a real monitor... and I use to let that cab plugged for a long period.. in order to have 'HIGH SCORE' engraved on the screen :P I use to think it would give more 'authenticity' to the whole things :P
Of course I do that when I'm in the game room, and because I have to admit that Galaxian is the game I play the more :P
Am I crazy doctor? ::) ;D

Lol, great trick Mr. Emmet Brown!

A Galaxian from 1979. The monitor is working, but colors are very dim.

my oldest cab is a atari's gran trak 10 from 1974 - monitor has some issues though
-
My oldest ex-cab was Atari Dominos 1976
-
Should be Tank from 1974 if it is still working (haven't been plugged in for years ::))
Non-video: Chicago Coin Super Circus Rifle EM gun game & Speedway EM driving game, both supposed to be from 1969, though I'm not sure if this is right, could be around 1971).

Laschek!
Wow, I played those Chicago coin rifle games a lot in the early 80's in our arcades, I loved them! :)
There are not too much left these days, but sometimes they appear on ebay.
I found this similar game:

Can you send picture of yours?
