Why don't you post some scores???
When i play i shoot all the mushrooms (almost) in the right half side of the screen, but i can only keep it almst empty to 40k+ or something like that, after 50k the game speeds up an it's sheer luck from that point on.. The flea speeds up!!!!

-EDIT-
I'm at the airport, waiting for my plane to London, where i will be for 4-5 weeks.
@Etienne; i havent forgot the Crazy Kong PCB i owe you, but ill send it to you when i get home 

Dont worry Muerto, i got enough boards here, Keep it yourself, or make somebody else happy with it !

i got 2 original falcons that will be repaired, and another one (which looks like a boot), and is working in the cab ATM.

so it was a combi of trackball rollers and optical sensor ?
and it was not the schmid-trigger IC's ?

None of the above, i greased the rollers the wrong way.  ::) >:( After cleaning them they work fine.

I also installed the new pcb i got (thanks Sonic!), and that took care of a small graphic problem at the top of the screen.

So thanks to you, andre and barry i got a perfect working centipede!  :spaceace: :spaceace:

One optical board _was_ defective though !

okay, that explains why there was only one way movement possible.

Yup. It was a combination of two problems which caused me to be a bit puzzled about it all.

Bottom line is that it's working again.

Slight graphic error ? Usually bad (E)PROM or socket.

Yes, when you visited me i showed it to you. The color in the upper part of the screen was slightly lighter then the rest.

Keep the bottom clear of mushrooms, and don't die :D There's a couple of strategies (http://strategywiki.org/wiki/Centipede/Walkthrough) in Centipede, but the only one I really use is the tunnel.

Ben Falls has an old stream of a 600k game here: http://www.twitch.tv/syscrusher/c/131851

I never really start out planning to use "the tunnel", but it always seems to end up that way.  Personal best is around 300k+ which was made all the sweeter by doing it in the live environment of Play Expo last year.  Will try to post a pic when I get back home tomorrow.

Guys, how are your difficulty DIP set to? There's a big difference from "easy" (default) to "hard" (the two only options available)

I really can not comment on what my settings are at present but I have a feeling it is set to hard (due to the fact I get fast spiders @ 3k), but from memory I think Centipede has a strange quirk where the game at advanced levels is actually easier if it is set to "hard" on the dips.  The reason it gets easier at the higher difficulty is that the time for the segments that reach the bottom to reset to "slow" speed is less at the hard setting than easy.
