Hi scr33n I am very fascinated with your scratch build projects and with many of Darth's amazing restoration's. I wasn't sure where to post my question but seeing that the topic has to do with the DK coin door, I think I can get some help here. I've finished restoring a Nintendo coin door similar to the one you have but it's with levers rather than with the push button mechanism.
My questions pertaining to the coin selectors are why doesn't the quarter fall right through (accepted) 4 out of 10 it might fall through without rejection. Does the coin door have to be wired up and powered on to accept coins? I am asking case the Midway coin door accepts perfectly without any installing or wiring. Is there an adjustment that needs to be made to get these mechanisms to work correctly? Can they be modded to work tokens instead?
I would appreciate anyone's help and shedding some light on this topic.

MacGyver Thanks for your respond. I got it working again the past couple of days. I tried similar coins to the quarter, in diameter and thickness and, I found that the British 10 pence worked perfectly! It must be that the density of the coin was slightly heavier than the quarter that made it slide through better! I like the idea of having a door that can use two currencies almost equivalent in value. All worked out well!
