Title: Visit to Greece
Post by: Etienne MacGyver on May 11, 2009, 05:08:19 PM
After a nice week of holiday to the greek island Crete (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crete), its time to post some pics of the arcade that i found there...

first thing is that its dificult to find an arcade these days i think.

the machines they have are mostly spending they're life displaying the attraction mode...

I guess its too warm there to play games  :)

as you can see its a really busy place.....  NOT!

anyway , there was also the pleasure of enjoying the nice views of the country.

this part was in front of our hotel.

We only stayed one week , so it was time to go back again , and look what i found in the airport.

thx for sharing, etienne. however, modern arcades all host the same kind of games: racing games and shoot 'em up games. where's the creativity that once roamed the arcades???

Yeah (http://www.opdenkelder.com/icons/exactly.gif), i get your feeling,

I also cannot say that i like it very much , and i preffer the "real" arcades , with classics like donky kong, pacman, galaga etc etc etc.

thanx god i bring my mini laptop  ;D

Tate mode -> VERTICAL MONITOR POSITION (like the old '80s classics)

From WIKI: TATE mode - the ability to rotate the game's display by ninety degrees while the player's monitor rests on its left side, for full-screen arcade size.

Yeah and then hook up one of those USB arcade joysticks ! :D

What time were you in that arcade ? It's usually busier at nights. I took similar pics when I was in Lanzarote. They actually had a number of "arcades" there....

Ah , ofcourse "rotate 90 degrees"  i should have know that

anyway , its ofcourse possible, but that require indeed external controls wich i did not bring on vacation  8)

@level42, I was there around 4:15 PM, so it could be that there where more people in the night.

it was kind of an arcade/internet cafe,  there where actually some people using the internet PC's

after reading your threat about your foto's in lanzarotte , i know what you mean with feeling strange taking pictures inside a arcade :D
