In the hypothesis i wanted to build a circuit that switches between one vector board to another, I would like to understand which kind of signals can remain in parallel and which not.
We can group the signals in these categories:
1 - Power (+5, +22, -22, 10.3, ...)
2 - inputs
3 - outputs (leds)
4 - outputs (counters)
5 - audio outputs
6 - video outputs
Obviously power will be switched between boards but what about the rest? do you have any experience?

I'd switch them all.....you never know what happens If voltages are fed back to circuits that are supposed to output voltages....

I suppose diodes would do a sufficient job in protecting and separating these circuits, though, wouldn't they? Much easier to handle than to actively switch stuff. Or am I missing something?

And how about AC voltages then ?
