wow, awesome rair cab you have there.
I would MAME it, it is badly hacked already.

I know what I am talking about, I might be the only Portraits-owner out there.
Your CP is hacked and the camera and flash-bulbs are gone.
Before I look for a PCB I would look for that parts as t runs emulated as good as with a PCB.

Hi, cpo is easy to reproduce, original design is under the aluminum sheet!
Marquee: white paper foil  hide camera + flash-bulb

Interesting! - any chance you could take a picture of the marquee without that white stripe?

You're in the wrong forum, dude. A rare cab should NOT be mamed at all!!!

As far as your work is reversible , i do not see any problem using MAME to revive a classic. Its' way worse to strip an original art and replace it with a repro because it's not perfect or doesnt look good... there are different points of view as you can see, and the forum is the right one ;)

I agree. If you cannot get a working PCB it is OK for me to use Mame. But I really don't want to see an original and rare cab to be transformed to a 2 player 6 button fighting machine running mame ;)

And there are other forums with lots of people turning dedicated cabs into Mame or xxxxin1-Machines  :-\

That's not the way most of the guys around use to go :)

agree, if you like 6 button fighting cabinets (like I do)........ . . . .  .  .  .   .   .   .

just get one of those :spaceace:

Well, we are saying the same thing then. Irreversible modifications to a cabinet should not be confused with the use of MAME anyhow: the project is on our side, not something to fight with as someone think ;)

I don't think anyone is fighting here :)

No, i know, but it's also true that synonym9 didnt mention to install 6 or more buttons on a dedicated cab, nor a 60-in-1 ;)

I think that game is not properly emulated in MAME.
What about the Portraits found in "the road trip of the century"? No PCB in that one?

If not correctly emulated (expecially the camera handling) MAME is not an option anyway unfortunately

To me this says: make it a 2-player 6-button cab with mame in it, it's not original anyway. This makes me think he has given up the cab already so it doesn't matter if it's going to be a Mame machine or not.

Don't get me wrong, no offense to Syn9.  I just want to say: restore it! At least try to :)

Did'nt take much to change your opinion 180°......did I say anything about 2-player/6 button-setup???

I am still to busy with it and other operator-raids....so I did'nt look inside my Portraits yet, why do you ask?

Because if your cab is complete, you could properly dump the roms for MAME and help the community.

nice

There are two ways to use Mame on dedicated cabs...one is OK, the other one is totally wrong. I assumed you wanted to suggest to do it the wrong way.

no problem with getting something wrong. i still do not like the attitude that some people seem to have. i guess this will never change.
