Title: Piranha pcb help
Post by: Belike on October 03, 2013, 07:29:39 PM
Piranha was in the first 3 arcade games I ever played back in the 80's in our Amusement Park. :D(the fu..ing hungarian government closed it yesterday after 170 years of history). :'(
After so many years of searching, I found a pcb and finally yesterday I had some time to solder a jamma adapter for it.
The pcb is a non-worker, just garbage on the screen. :-\
There is a daughterboard on the top with an empty socket, I tried to compare it with some internet pics (klov, crazykong.com), but it is not clear, that it is originally empty or something has to be there. If anybody has a similar pcb or some pics please help! ;)
If the pcb repair guru's have an idea what would be the problem or where to start inspection, it would be also great. :D

the 'empty socket' is normal. It used to plug the sub board to the board.

Has the manual been scanned? I have a manual for US Billiards Piranha on my list. It was in the same cab as US Billiards Quasar. Don't know if it has board schematics but I can dig it out and take a look if it's not online.
Paul.

Thanks Paul, great idea, I forgot to check. ;)
There are also schematics in the manual, but I can't identify that part.

I do have a dedicated US Billiards Piranha if you need pics of the board...

In terms of that socket, as the dude said earlier, it's just a wire-wrap socket used as a connector to the main board. It's supposed to be empty.
Sounds like you found a manual so I don't need to scan mine?
Paul.

This what we have under the daughterboard.

There are also some socketed HMI-7611-5 proms on the board, do we know anything about these?
