Dear Bruno,
For the second time you fail to see who is the bad guy and for the second time you fail to support me, someone I thought you would recognize at least as a good fellow in this hobby.
YOU SHOULD HAVE BANNED DEXTER LONG AGO !!!
To be honest I am flabbergasted about once again your blindness for the situation and your lack of support for me, a constructive member of this forum for YEARS, someone lots of people would trust and the initiator of Eurocade !!! A good number of people here I even am proud to call very good friends.
I have made up my mind and say a last and definite farewell to this forum.
Goodbye, I hope to see some real friends at Eurocade 2013.
P.S. I will soon establish the Eurocade forum.

I don't understand this reaction André. I'm trying to solve the problem. You know you have my support but you can easily understand I can't let certain words written on my board for legal reason! Dexter had a partial ban, meaning he still can access to private messages, but no more posting. For legal reason, if real names are written on topic, you must let at last him the right to reply or contact administrator. Check the legislation regarding the boards. It's not me, it's the law... That's all. Because these words are written in my board, it's (unfortunately) under my responsability, whatever they are true or false. It's not more a question about who's right or not (we know all you're right on that 'non respected deal'), it's a law problem. Hope you can understand this.

Yeah, stay André, hate to see a good guy go!!! We all know that Dexter is a jerk, either if he was partially banned or completely banned.
We finally have a great and working community here, so it would be a shame to loose a great member due to a stupid guy, and a problem thats old, but not forgotten...

I usually try to stay out of Internet drama/beef, especially if it doesn't involve me.. but come on!
This Dexter guys is just unbelievable and he's breaking up this community, you should have banned him for good, not partial!
And i just won't believe you would get into legal trouble, he's the criminal and not the victim. He should be hanging on the highest (online) tree possible.

What a drama today, and for what? For an ashhole that indeed should have been banned a long time ago. That is not worth it at all.
I totally understand André´s point of view, but him leaving the forum is intolerable. >:(
Bruno, please ban this Dexter right away! And you two must remain on speaking terms and try to solve this terrible situation, so that André will return to this (still) great forum and great community, whit a lot of mutual friends.
Becaue face it, André is one of the few driving forces in this forum.

No, Im leaving because of what I mentioned above. Bruno refuses to take a clear stand in this, afraid of some "legal stuff". I mean this is the Internet and an international thing, who is going to sue you over banning a member Bruno ?
And even so.....if I would be walking on a street with a good friend and someone kicked him in the balls, would you refrain from attacking that guy ? I would fight for my friend, couldn't care about any legal consequences...
Bruno should have killed his account after the last drama, obviously he didn't for some reason that I cannot understand.
The next step Mr. Dexter does now is moving me in a bad light with Bruno through a PM. One of the funniest things is that he says that Mark Spaeth called me a troll (which he did, some time after I had bought for about $750 worth of his stuff). I wouldn't call Mr. Spaeth exactly the standard to judge things by. He has been banned several times from KLOV and still is now. Just like Dexter.
We've been through this exactly the same before. Then too Bruno failed to make the right decision. So I am taking this decision now.
Hope to see you guys soon somewhere else on the Internet or in real life.

One more word. Note that Bruno apparently DID kill of Mikonos' account, so apparently when his own situation is into play he judges differently (and a lot more quickly) and has no trouble kicking people off.....

André, come on. I completely understand you are p*ssed about this case. But leaving the forum will make dexter a 'winner' and you really do not want that glory/victory for him, do you?? He will wear a button saying 'I kicked Level42 from DLF'...you really don't want that!!!

Bruno, we all know who the bad guy is in this drama....kick him from the forum, please! I understand that posting the real names of persons can be a problem, we had something similiar in a german forum. So I think you should edit the postings, remove the real names and remove Dexter from this forum.

I think I can say we are good friends and it wouldn't happen without Bruno.
Hosting and moderating a forum like this next to his "real" life could be a real hard job, we just enjoy this awesome board and community he created in the past 10 years.I'm absolutely sure he is on your side and not against you, I think you overreacted this situation a bit and your anger should be dedicated to that Australian criminal, not to him.Just my 2 cents.
p.s.:If you go, we will kick your ass at EC13. :D

Dexter still posting here, what the hell?
A full ban has been applied to him since September 2012 … but I’m using a special custom plugin (more accurate to fight spam attack than the standard smf tool). When updating the core of this board, it may affects parameters/config of custom modules. This is obviously what happened (parameters resetted). Nobody noticed it simply he didn’t post so far, until André bring back the topic to the scene.
Ah OK, so now he got a full ban?
Nope partial only since this morning (or if not, it should be fixed soon...have some configuration trouble with that special admin module). As previously explained, because of strong words/attack/use of real names/picture used on some topics, he may be able –at least- to use private messages for requests. It’s the law. It’s like if someone writes on a public wall in the street “Mr X is an assassin”, that Mr X must still have the right to contact the owner of the wall, and the person who wrote this.
So you really don’t want to apply him a full ban?
I can, no problem for me. But If I do this, I would have to remove all the words/information about him. If so, how to warn the community about him? Seems that the most important point for some here. What a dilemma isn’t it? I let the choice to André, who started to relate the Dexter’s story.
What about Mikonos?
This is not the same case. No real name used, no insult, no accusation. His topic is more funny than anything else after all... See him trying to deny the evidences ;D. I could be very mad… I’ll have to pay for something I should have free. He got few days ban, but he’ll get back his access soon.
Are you mad about André?
Not at all. I just regret I cannot talk to him via private messages, and going all public, everything looks like a drama. He is a long time contributor here, and I don’t want to lose its precious contributions.
Is it a usual way to explain your moderation acts, like you are doing now in a kind of FAQ?
Nope. I shouldn’t have even to justify in details, but because André is a good friend (unfortunately more ‘in virtual web’ than ‘for real in physical live’) to me , like all the regular members here, I preferred to explain the how and why from my point of view in order to avoid any misleading interpretation. It's facts.
So this will be all?
I hope so… I really don’t know what to add at this point. Oh yes, I would like to be a simple member here, and I wouldn’t have to worry about all these technical/moderation/administration or whatever stuff here, and spend more time on my cabinets restoration but also with my family.

honestly, i can't quite understand your reaction andré. simply because bruno didn't do what you expected him to do because he was following the rules laid out by this forum? if i were you i'd lay back and relax for a while - then come back ....

After a period where my other hobby needed all my focus (participating at the World Music Contest ( http://www.wmc.nl/home.aspx?id=35), which you could compare to the Olympics for marching band music, and a great weekend to the south of Germany I sent Bruno an email and got a quick reply from him.
I explained why I reacted like I did, he explained his part.
I also made an apology about a certain aspect on this whole thing.
For me, we are fully in the clear about this and I'm sure Bruno is too.
Thanks to all friends who sent very well argumented calls/PMs/ emails, I really always value those well thought out opinions from friends. There was more to this story than meets the eye of the casual forum member here, so for those who drew their conclusions a bit too quickly, please reconsider....
Now let's move on, we've got the Eurocade/Retro Game Experience coming up quicker than you think....it's going to be totally awesome, with the biggest and finest collection of classic arcade games brought together in The Netherlands ever........those who miss it will be sorry ! :)
