I agree.
By the way... Avatar change ?

I hate what has been done to this rare cab as much as I love both these games!

<snip snip> converted into one of the worst....
Seriously? ???

Hi all...
I'm suprised that everyone is shocked by this...
When SFII was new, it was hugely popular and a big money maker. I remember playing this on many converted arcade games in many locations.
I've seen the following converted to SFII back in the day, cause I played them! ;)
Frogger
Defender
Centipede
Zaxxon... which many were also Ghosts N Goblins in the '80 too.
You have to remember that in the beginning of the '90s that "classic" arcade games were at the time still considered junk, and lucky to be still around, so arcade and route operators repurposed them with converstion kits to make money..... and boy did they!

I'm not shocked about it, I know why they got converted etc. but that doesn't mean I like it :)
Also, remember that most of us are from Europe and for some reason conversions seem to be less common over here.
Indeed, quite a few conversions actually saved a cab, some can be undone relatively easily.

That's true. Both my Robotron and Dragon's Lair were converted to Street Fighter 2. The same owners threw away most of the non-converted cabs (like Joust and Pole Position) some weeks earlier, because they were non-working. It's easier to keep a JAMMA board alive than the whole Joust board set. :'(
So I guess I can thank Street Fighter 2 that I have those cabinets at all!

Poor Zoo Keeper! - though it's a bitch to keep running!

Makes one wonder what kind of things we do today that 20 years from now will be shocking?? (eg crappy Xbox 360 games on clearance for 1$ that might be worth thousands one day)
-
Yeah, it's funny, been thinking about that a lot too since I started this hobby.
A good example are CRT TVs. You can pick them up for nothing or close to nothing. Millions get scrapped or hopefully at least recycled. In 10 years they will become rare for sure.
If I had space I'd be stocking up on them for CRTs. :) (I mean even more than I do now...;))

one of the worst games ever? Because the previous owners of your cabs transformed them into SFII's?
I guess the saying: "Don't Hate The Game, Hate The Player", couldn't fit any better for this matter.

to start with, it's a bitch to GET IT running ...

I totally dont understand this....I just think SF sucks, you can hate me for it if you want, but that won't change my opinion...
-
hahaha, he didn't mean he hates you at all, it's just an expression! :D
Not that i'm a very big fan of the game but why all the sf2 hate? it's one of the biggest if not the biggest arcade game ever, and surly a true classic.. I guess it's just a generation thing?
-
Oh, like I said I didnt understand it at all....
It definitly is a generation thing :)

Somehow I have the weird Urge to buy a SF cab and convert it to a Zookeeper ;)
-
i have the weird urge to buy a SF and beat the hell out of the cabinet

spotted this one as well yesterday, but the thing is: i do have a complete board set from archer. it's untested though, so i expect it not to be working, but who knows ...
i'll be picking it up with all my other stuff at chris' place right before eurocade.
btw, the last working set of zookeeper boards was sold by anthony (of quarterarcade fame) for 450 bucks - OUCH!!!
