Following this roadtrip (https://www.dragonslairfans.com/smfor/index.php?topic=301.0), I've to work now on one of the greatest games ever made by ... Namco : GALAGA 8)
I didn't look it closer until now... well, the overall condition seems to be not too bad... but closer :-\ :-\ :-\ hum...
OK, let's quickly examine it :
Serial 10397... made in USA :
The operator sheet :
Something good : a NOS bezel :) The control panel is in good shape... just have to clean it, and it will be fine :P
(https://www.dragonslairfans.com/galaga/gal6.jpg)
View from the back :
What I can see so far :
- The front kickplate panel is not the original one. It's has been changed in the past following a crack down into it, or maybe some water damages ? ... more than that, the new one is badly painted :-\
- Same things regarding the base of the cabinet...you can see skrews on the sides of the cabinet (you'll see that in the coming pictures)
- The 'inside' of the side have been painted... very badly >:(
- A lot of water damages on the base of the two sides :-\
Missing : backdoor, CRT
Not working : Power supply, joystick, monitor board
Working : Original Galaga board (I have to check it but it supposed to be *working)
A lot of work :-\ ... but hey, it's a GALAGA cab, so let's save it :-* ;D
-
OK, now I've to look a little bit closer on this cab... to see what is the amount of work to restore it.
Soap & water will be perfect for this -pass1- examination :P
On the folowing picture, you can see the skrews who maintain the new kickplate :
... and you can see other holes :( :
Arghhh  Too bad to see these skrews... they should be hidden :ghost: :
The panel is in good condition, but all the mechanical parts are broken... only the red ball is there :-\ THe good thing : it's a NOS bezel... very nice :-*
(https://www.dragonslairfans.com/galaga/prise4.jpg)
T-molding is destroyed...
...and you can also see the replacement plank for the front kickplate... And I even thought it was a Ms Pac Man front kickplate, because of the blue color under the black color :P
Here the black speaker grille, full of rust... and some scratch on the back, just on the top of the monitor area :-\
(https://www.dragonslairfans.com/galaga/prise6.jpg)
Ok, let's remove everything
Done. Now you can see the new plank used to replace the original kickplate...
I start to understand what happens on this cab ::)
The original kickplate has been damaged (destroyed by some hits or water damages ?), and this part has been replaced. This explain some skrews... but why there are also skrews to maintain all the base of the cabinet ???
Easy : When the operator removed the original kickplate, he had to move apart the sides. So the junction between the base and the two sides became to fragile. So he put more skrews :-\
Hey... a 20 years old bubblegum
Opsss... each tilme I try to clean this area with a simple towel, the black paint comes off >:(
(https://www.dragonslairfans.com/galaga/prise11.jpg)
It's clear that's not the original paint. This area has been very badly painted is the past :?
I know that area is a common problem on all Galaga/Ms PacMan cabinets... I even found a picture of me, taken in an arcade in Los Angeles in 2001, where you can see the problem :
It's because the hands of the players & spectators... see
The black paint used for these Midway cabs doesn't resist to the hands perspiration.
OK, but why the operator painted it again so bad ???
Now the side arts. They looks good to me... it's written "Ricky's game" on it :-X Who's Ricky ;D ?
Back on the kickplate... same story regarding the 'BAD' back paint...
Well, for sure... it won't be a quick restoration. So it's time to move that cab in the Nuno's Workshop ... remember... the place where I worked on this Pac Man (https://www.dragonslairfans.com/smfor/index.php?topic=195.0) or this Space Ace (https://www.dragonslairfans.com/smfor/index.php?topic=106.0)
Well... in fact... the workshop is just a room at the first floor in my house  ;D
Ok, so... on location now :
I didn't show it yet, but there are a lot of water damages on the bottom of the two sides :-\
As you can see, other games are waiting here to have a second life ::) :P
(https://www.dragonslairfans.com/galaga/prise18.jpg)
-
Good luck with the restore. There seems to be a lot of Galagas around so hopefully finding parts isn't too hard.
-
i'll tell ricky off next time i see him! ;D
good luck with the restore, keep us posted!
-
Good luck with the restore. There seems to be a lot of Galagas around so hopefully finding parts isn't too hard.
Thanks JimmyU :)
It's true that Galaga is a common game in US... but rather rare here, in Europe
i'll tell ricky off next time i see him! ;D
Noooo please :pac: :ghost: :ghost: :ghost: ;)
OK, remember this movie ? ;)
...WARGAMES of course :-*
Each time I need some motivation, I watch these pictures ::)
Ok, back to work :P
Let's clean a little bit more ... with water & soap :
Hey... cool... there is still a protective layer on the top :)
...and here too :
Back to the front of the cab... and still that poor black paint :-\
(https://www.dragonslairfans.com/galaga/netadv4.jpg)
On this area, I can see the original paint... but why such scratches ??? :-\
(https://www.dragonslairfans.com/galaga/netadv5.jpg)
...and the kickplate... each time I touch it, I remove the black paint :-X
(https://www.dragonslairfans.com/galaga/netadv6.jpg)
OK, let's put it on his side... nice 8) Once again, the protective layer on the base is still there :)
...and now, the worst... water damages >:(
Each time I touch that part, the wood is crumbling :-\
(https://www.dragonslairfans.com/galaga/netadv9.jpg)
... Grrrr
Ok, so as you can see... a LOT of work to fix that :-\
Let's do it :P ;)
-
Is that particle board? It seems that particle board was more prone to water damage than plywood or fiberboard. Particle board just seems to crumble.
-
Yeps, I would say it's particle board too :-\
I can't let that cabinet like that... I mean the water damage parts... Impossible to move the cabinet without spreading wood particles... :-[
OK, so I remove the biggest 'dead wood' parts directly with fingers, and in order to be sure to remove all the 'dead by water' parts, I use a manual saw :
...a little bit scary isn't it ?
...that corner is very 'water damaged' too :-X
(https://www.dragonslairfans.com/galaga/remwood3.jpg)
On some area wich less damage, I'm only using a brush like this :
Ok, now before doing the same job on the other side of the cabinet, I'll remove that *bad* paint on the front kickplate.
To remove paint, I'm using 'Aceton' :
...just few drops of 'Aceton' on a towel, and you can easily remove a small area of paint, like I did on the previous picture.
20 minutes later... no more paint
-
The suports for the control panel are rusty :
I remove them both. See the original paint behind them : black satin
Now check out this side :
It's the worst side : scratches... holes ... :-[
(https://www.dragonslairfans.com/galaga/suit4.jpg)
And of course... water damages too. ..
...closer...
Ok, same method than the first side : I remove as much *dead* wood as possible :
And I 'fine tune' the job with a metal brush
The remains ;D
(https://www.dragonslairfans.com/galaga/suit9.jpg)
Before applying the wood filler, I'll use a special product. It's a primer who will harden the wood :
Maybe some of you can read french ::)
It's like a glue... it goes -in deep- inside the wood, in order to harden it. Here's how I'm applying it
-
In order to know which paint I've to buy, I'm removing a small sample under the cabinet. Note that the small protective film is still present... so this sample *should* be 100% error free
...it seems to be something between black satin & bright black :?
Let's fix the control panel metal supports... full of rust :
I'm using this product :
...if you can read french ;D
I put the two metal parts inside the rust-remover ...
...and about 12 hours later, it's like new
Ok, now the serious work 8) ...the wood filler section 8)
The left side :
Closer..
Two 'wood filler' sessions later... I'm ok with the result :
OK... that left side is done... exept the screw holes to cover of course ;)
-
OK, the first side looks fine to me now
Let's do the same work on the other side :
...ooppss  So many 'hits' on this side :? :
Before applying the wood filler, I protect the holes like this :
...closer...
Ok, no more 'screw holes'
Now, let's protect the good parts on this side before to apply the paint :
-
OK, for this first side, I'll use black bright paint... not sure if it will the right one, but I'll correct it If I'm wrong :-\
(https://www.dragonslairfans.com/galaga/psi1.jpg)
2 layers mininum. I let it dry 24 hours minimum.
Let's go now the second side... very damaged as you can see :
Here, I'm doing same job thant the first side : to sand, wood filler, to sand, wood filler... :pac: :ghost: :ghost: :ghost: :ghost:
Regarding the paint, I won't do the same thing for this side... I won't just hide the holes like I did on the first one...
... and I won't follow what I've repaired ! I'll set a straight border, like this :
I'm sure it will look better than what I've done on the other side :-*
Ha, I also used black satin paint, and the the bright paint ::)
Now let's sand the interior parts
Done :
-
Before painting the 2 "interior sides", I'm protecting the parts that I need to keep original paint with a special adhesive tape :
...the other side...
And also here
Ready to be painted now
I'll use black satin :
Primer first :
24 hours later
Second layer :
... beware... fresh paint 8) ...
Let's wait at least 24 hours... 8)

Nuno , just in case you did not know.
particle board is dangerous , wear a good breathing mask. open windows. best to work on it outside if you can.
-
Nuno,
I just saw this this listing (http://forums.webmagic.com/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=622272&an=0&page=0&gonew=1#UNREAD) on the KLOV boards for Galaga stuff and thought you'd be interested. $30 gets you:
Board Rack, light fixture, unhacked original harness, working power brick with 2 transformers, speaker, and speaker grill.
Good job on the restoration.
-
Nuno , just in case you did not know.
particle board is dangerous , wear a good breathing mask. open windows. best to work on it outside if you can.
Thanks for the advise Polaris :-* I use to open windows when I'm painting or cuting wood boards. I'm also working short periods but very often,so I'm never be too long inside the 'working room' ;)
Nuno,
I just saw this this listing (http://forums.webmagic.com/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=622272&an=0&page=0&gonew=1#UNREAD) on the KLOV boards for Galaga stuff ...
Thanks for the link JimmyU, but at this point, I got all I need to finish the cab' :P
Ok, now let's sand the front with 120 & 250 sandpaper
I'll use this paint : black satin, 2 in 1 (primer & finish)
The primer first :
While the drying, I'll test my original Galaga Midway board with this Galaga to Jamma converter
Let's plug the thing...
:-[ The games is stuck on its boot sequence...
...sometimes, it boots... but all the moving sprites (my ship & the aliens) are blue ??? :-\
(https://www.dragonslairfans.com/galaga/kickp7.jpg)
Well, I'll clean the board and try to fix it, but I'll also prepare a dedicated computer under advance mame (for having the 100% arcade looks with RGB signal), and I'm sure it'll be more reliable ;D ;)
OK, back to the cabinet. Primer is dry now :
Second layer
My wife is asking why I don't let her go inside that room in the first level of our house... Mhhh I don't want her to see this mess
Ok, now the result 8) :
Looks better isn't it ? :)
-
Ok, back on the first side. If you remember I've used bright black, wich is NOT the right color :-X The right one is black satin, like I used the the second side.
More than that, I'm not really happy with the way I've done the repair on the first side, so... let's correct that 8)
THis is the first side :
Once again, I lay down that cab without forget to protect the second side with a blanket in order to protect it
...and like I did on the other side, I'll paint like this :
...and this time : black satin :D
(https://www.dragonslairfans.com/galaga/rig7.JPG)
I'm also painting some small areas
...fresh paint...
Nearly dry...
100x better then previously isn't it ? ;)
-
The work on the sides is not finished
That side has still a lot of scratches on it ...
... and a missing part on the back. I'm fixing this last one like I did on the base
Regarding the small scratches, I cover them with black satin paint like this :
I'm doing the same job for all the edges too
Before :
After :
Let's wait... fresh paint :
-
Remember, I've removed rust for the two control panel supports previoulsy ?
Here there are after the 'bath' :
Let's sand them before the new paint :
First layer, as usual, with PRIMER paint :
..and the black...
Two layers in total will be enough... Remember, these supports won't be visible... so it's fine like that :P
-
Ok, most of the 'paint reparation' are done, let's start the next step : T-molding 8) Lay down the beast
I've painted the edges in black, in order to hide the 'non-painted' wood.
I'm using this custom mallet, done with an hammer + cloth
Yes, NEVER use an hammer directly, or you'll destroy your brand new T-molding :o
I'll use this one : 3/4 " BLACK LEATHER STYLE FINISH :-*
(https://www.dragonslairfans.com/galaga/tmol5.jpg)
So, here's the tools of the day :
Ops, I forget to talk about this Cold Glue Gun
...the best way to fix T-molding on a trench too large for your T-molding, or just to solidify some delicate area, by exemple corner of the cabinet.
OK, here's all the tools of the day :D
This area really need hot glue to fix the T-molding :
It's better to do the job with someone else, like this
Be sure to finish like this... a lot of glue... Nobody will see it... it's under the cab ;)
Done :
:-* :-* :-*
-
Ok, let's thing about the game itself...
The best way to reproduce a complete & accurate Galaga experience without a working Galaga board is to use AdvanceMame pure DOS and a true RGB 15Khz signal.
Ok, here 's my configuration :
- AdvanceMame for DOS
- 1 ghz processor
- Soundblaster pci128
- Gforce II Graphic card
First, I prepare that computer, and test the result on my 'benchmark' setup, with a Commodore 1084S monitor, able to display a 15 Khz CGA signal (more information about how to use your Commodre monitor right here (https://www.dragonslairfans.com/smfor/index.php?topic=127.0)) :
100% arcade perfect :-* See the natural scanline from that monitor :-* :-* :-*
Of course, I won't use that monitor in that cab' LOL
So let's prepare the custom made cable : "VGA to SCART". Here's the tools of the day :
Here's how I build this custom cable :
I already done this cable more than 12 times, and it works all the time ;)
The only operation it won't do automatically is the automatic swith to 'external' mode. So I have to do it manually with a remote control each time I power on the TV. Not a problem for me ;)
So, if you follow my diagram, you can see the pin 5 from the SCART going to pin 8 from the VGA :
An other view :
Do the same operation for all the pin in that diagram and this is it
Ok, so the cable is ready now :
Now I'll test it on a TV. It's not the one I'll put inside the cab'... but just for testing ;)
GREAT !!! 100% arcade accurate :-*
(https://www.dragonslairfans.com/galaga/scart6.jpg)
Of course, I've to correct brightness, contrast, geometry, etc...
I'll do these correction on the TV I'll put inside the cab' ;)
-
Darth excellet work as usual ....
i've read something about rgb autoswitch metod .. read:
http://www.idiots.org.uk/vga_rgb_scart/
but i've never try this, you know something about that?
This is my fast solution:
from top to the bottom:
1. PC power on
2. PC Reset
3. Tv Power off
4. Switch from Av - Rgb Etc
5. Tv Power on
it works ... :P
-
Nice work Scr33n :) ...and nice link too ;)
ok, here the frame/screen when I got the game
I still have a stock of brand new TV. This model is the best one ! Thrust me ;) I already use it previously, and he has everything : Perfect size, it fits all the existing 19" arcade monitor frames, it has full setting accessible via a hidden technician code (I know it of course). My best choice :-* :-* :-* Price : 109€ ...BRAND NEW :-*
(https://www.dragonslairfans.com/galaga/tv2.jpg)
This new TV has never been switch on, and I have it in my attic boxed since few months... so ... no risk to manipulate it. But if you're not sure about what you're doing, please discharge it first !!!
This model is great inside too : when I'll remove the tube from the original TV plastic frame, the degauss wires will stay in location around the tube... so no more flying springs :P :D
(https://www.dragonslairfans.com/galaga/tv5.jpg)
I'm building a custom wood support for the electronics :
I use existing holes to fix it on the wood :
And this is it :
-
Ok, now let's clean the original 'under glass bezel' part :
soap, water, and it's clean
The original plexiglass is dead. So I order a new one.
Got it but... oversized :-\ I'll have to cut it. :?
Ok, so I'll use the orginal for drawing the exact size :
Here's the tools of the day :
A simple saw for metal. Closer
The secret is to cut very slowly ;) Have a look at this video (http://fr.youtube.com/watch?v=jkswxY-Gypg) ;)
I don't have to cut perfeclty because the borders of the plexiglas will be hidden under the glass bezel :P But I think it's not too bad :
...and it fits perfectly :-*
-
Let's fix the speaker cover now :
Rust >:( >:( >:(
(https://www.dragonslairfans.com/galaga/speakg2.jpg)
Let's remove that...
24 hours later, no more rust but I've to remove the rest of the paint, like this :
Naked
Primer first... always
Black is black... beware : fresh paint :P
(https://www.dragonslairfans.com/galaga/speakg7.jpg)
Same problem for the Carriage Bolts : Rust :?
I'm using sand paper (600)
Primer :
Like new :D :
On location :) :-*

Bruno,
Great work as always !!!
You really should be getting the monitor to switch to external directly. It distracts to much to use a remote ! (Plus, remote's are always where you are not looking for them :) )
It's so easy: Use the schemtic you always posted. Take a +5v from your pc, put a 150 Ohms resistor in series and solder that to pin 16.
Then solder a +12V lead to pin 8, and you're all set !!!
Man you really should try to get the PCB running my friend. Emulation is not 100% the same thing.....
I could have a look at the PCB if you like !
-
(https://www.dragonslairfans.com/galaga/speakg9.jpg)
Cheating on Dr. Pepper Nuno? How dare you!! ;D
-
Yeps André, even if I put the remote control inside the cab, sometime I can't find it ::) I think I'll test the solution of the automatic switching 'External' + RGB :P
The idea behind the use of a computer is to have something reliable and accurate, without the failures of old hardware. Following my experience, I can tell you it's a real pain to maintain more than 25 games, for most of them 20 years old, with the original pcb :-\. The use of advance mame with a true RGB output signal, with perfect speed of emulation, the right settings give a perfect result, 100% arcade accurate. No one will be able to see the difference. Of course, when you know it, there is a part of "the magic of the original hardware' who disappear, but it's the price to pay with a park of many arcade games like me :-\ Of course, each time it's possible, I put the original hardware in priority. I'll give you more information on my Galaga pcb, thanks for help on that ;) :-*
Opps JimmyU, you got me... maybe too much sugar inside the Dr Pepper ::) In UK there is Dr Pepper Light and Dr Pepper Zero. Who can help me to order them ??? ::) :P ;D ;D ;D
-
OK, now let's fix that 'secondary bezel' ;)
Very easy : I'm doing it like this  One small metallic on the left :
An other one on the right :
Both of them :
I fix the plastic bezel like this :
Now, the 'LIVE' test, with the brand new Plexiglas
Woow :-* It's wonderful... have a look at the picture. The black is so deep... MMhhhh :-* :-* :-*
And now, the big piece of art : the NOS galaga bezel :-* After a little cleaning, it is perfect :-* Check out the colors of it
-
Let's check the control panel :
It is in a very good condition... it just need to be cleaned :
The overlay has some little cracks on the edge, but it's very minor :
Mhhh, rust on all the skrews :-\ :
On the back, all the contact are there, but the original jostick is dead (hardware missing) :-X
(https://www.dragonslairfans.com/galaga/pan5.jpg)
Ok, back on the overlay... see the parts to clean :
With this special sponge, and a little bit of water on it
Done ! It's like new now
-
After 27 years ............
a beautiful control panel :-*
great work !!!
-
:-* Screen
I'll use this two ways Galaga joystick reproduction... *brand new* :)
The only bad point about it : It uses micro-switches :P
Let's remove the rust on the screws from the control panel :
and 24 hours after the 'bath', no more rust 8) Because theses original screws are very old, they are still a little bit damaged, but it give a 'vintage' touch :P :-*
(https://www.dragonslairfans.com/galaga/tpan4.jpg)
Let's see who that panel looks on location :
:-* :-* :-*
-
Now, let's prepare the controls.... I'm using the Utlimarc's Ipac2
I'm removing all the Ipac2 shift keys. For that, I'm using the WinIpac configuration tool. I'm using my main computer to test all the controls / configuration
OK, no problem with that 8)
And what about the sound ? Easy :) I'll use this cheap speakers :
Let's check the value of the speakers ... 8 Ohm
Great ;D The original Galaga speaker value is ... 8 Ohm too :-*
So I'll use the amps for the that cheap PC speakers linked with the original Galaga speaker 8) :-*
-
The original neon is dead. I'll use a new one, not exactly the same (13W and no 15W like the original) but it'll be fine :
...on location...
OK, now I'll prepare a custom maintenance panel with three buttons ...
...and I place it inside the cab like this :
I'll explain later the function of these buttons.
OK, regarding the Galaga glass bezel, I've to build a custom fixation (the original one was missing :-\ )
...maximum protection for the glass
Done :
Now I can move or lay down the cabinet without any risk of breaking that beautiful bezel :)
-
OK, got the "GALAGA DECAL - FRONT GRAPHIC" from TWOBITS.COM (http://pac-man.com)
...it has been roll up :-\ ...
Let's lay down the cab' for the last time :P
Now that I've founded the perfect location, I fix the artwork like this :
...because it has been roll up for shipping, it'll be a little bit more complicate :-\ ...
Ok, same technique as usual... first, one side of the sticker :
Now I sure I'll be perfectly straight :P Let's continue to apply the sticker until the end like this :
Let's avoid air bubbles...if possible ::) :P
This is it 8)
The best moment :
Ops :? Some air bubbles ???
... OK, let's fix that :D Here's how I'm doing it in this video
(https://www.dragonslairfans.com/galaga/kicka10.jpg) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OFiLZcEYT2s)
Done :-* :-* :-*
-
Great technic for the air bubbles 8)
now i want see the final part ....... I WANT ONE OF IT !!!!! :-* :-*
-
Thanks Screen ;)
Yes... few more steps to go, and ... this is it :D ... but for now
Let's put back the Galaga marquee and ... switch on
Because there no more 'hard tasks' to do like painting or cutting, it's time to move the game from my ...humm... "Arcade Workshop" (A room at the first floor in my house in fact :P) to my office (and my wife's office too by the way ::) )
...and I can start to improve my Galaga high score :-* :-* :-*
By the way, this last picture is not an attempt to reproduce a Queen CD cover ;D
...and ... ehh ... yes ... well.... because the cabinet is NOW in a great condition, the real chief is ok to let the cabinet in that room... until the completion of the Nuno's Lair v2 of course 8)
:-* :-* :-*
-
Remember, the original back door was missing.
Let's cut a piece of wood :
Here's the tools of the day :
Two layers will be fine...beware, fresh paint...
While this time, let's fix all the components on a piece of wood :
Now, on location
It's time to remove the small protective layer :
Ok it looks fine...
...but I need to fix the door... I'll use this...
But I need them in black...
Done :
This is it
:-*
-
GREAT WORK BRUNO !!! :-* :-* :-*
...and I place it inside the cab like this :
I'll explain later the function of these buttons.
Can you explain the function of the 3 buttons inside the cab? ???
I'll use this two ways Galaga joystick reproduction... *brand new* :)
The only bad point about it : It uses micro-switches :P
Where you bought this joystick?
Look at this:
(http://img88.imageshack.us/img88/272/joyrbls48whdxx1.jpg) (http://imageshack.us)
http://www.mikesarcade.com/cgi-bin/store.pl?sku=JOYRBLS4W8W
What do you think about that? It's a good purchase for you?
Ciaoooooo!!!
-
OK Screen,
Few words about the buttons and the software configuration :
- the first one (RED) is switch off/on
- the second is the ESCAPE key
- the third is the ENTER key
When I power on the game, it boots to advance menu. You have the choice between two games : GALAGA & GALAGA 88
I use my custom buttons inside the cabinet to swap between Galaga or Galaga88 8)
Regarding the joystick, I got mine via the TwistedQuarter Ebay store... this one, right here (http://cgi.ebay.com/JOYSTICK-FOR-GALAGA-BOLTS-RIGHT-ON_W0QQitemZ120004774094QQihZ002QQcategoryZ13718QQtcZphotoQQcmdZViewItem) :)
-
Hi Nuno!
Wow...................!
What a finish, I'm currently using some of your methods for my Outrun cabinet. I going to install a pc running mame, can you give me more detail on the three buttons, like Pc power on/off, reset.
keep up the good work
Giddygoon
-
Regarding the joystick, I got mine via the TwistedQuarter Ebay store... this one, right
Hi Nuno,
I had a look at this store, which could have some interesting items at a correct price, I think. But they seem to sell only inside the USA (their French store is almost empty :(). How did you succeed in ordering for Belgium ? ??? Thanks
Stéphane
-
For Giddygoon, the red button is just the same button than the power on/off pc button, and the two others buttons are connected to the IPAC and set to be "ESCAPE" & "ENTER" via the WINIPAC utility.
Stethane, you can just ask to the seller "TwistedQuarter" for sending it to Belgium, it won't be a problem (I use to get stuff from him) ;)
Ok, the last thing to do : the coins door
I got it like this :
Rust :(
(https://www.dragonslairfans.com/galaga/mon2.jpg)
...even on the frame ...
...everywhere in fact... :-X ...
Let's remove everything
Ready to be sanded :
-
back from the ironwork... here the coin door parts fully sanded
I'm removing this protection :
...and as usual for these two parts : primer and black paint :
Ok, while the paint is drying, let's remove the rust on the other coin door parts :
It's time for them to take a bath...
... and 24 hours later... it's fine 8)
Ops... still some screws to refresh... ok here we go...

So Nuno, what happened to your first cab that was seen in the video?
-
Thanks to all of you for the 'moral support' during the renovation time ;) :-* :-* :-*
So Nuno, what happened to your first cab that was seen in the video?
Haaaaa... my very first cab'
Generic cab 'Apple Time' ::) :P By the way, do you recognize the boy on the right on this picture ? ::)
The same ... approx 16 years later
 Burt :P ;D
Regarding the 'Appletime', I sold it long long time ago. But before that, with the help of a friend, we used to play Amiga games on it 8) At that time mame didn't exist of course :P So we hack a 'speed king' joystick and use the harware of it with the real arcade controls. The Amiga computer is sending a true RGB signal, so it was very easy to send the picture to the arcade monitor. Maybe the first Amiga cab ??? To bad I didn't got pictures of that :'( ;D
-
THis is it... I finally got the Galaga T-shirt
I'm sure these T-shirts help me to improve my score on the game
430220...level 42, my best score ever made 8)
-
475300...stage 48 8)
