That's some fine art! I love all this old time mechanizm.
You can do so much thing with that, without any electonic parts! This kind of knowledge are underestimate i think.
Imagine all you can do with mechanic and electronic.. :P

But .. 8000 bucks for the restoration, it's a bit.. ouch!  :shock:

It´s sure a nice restore.... but, why Why WHY could they not have kept it original??? ->

The button is "worse" than the fan outlet but as always restoration=compromises.

Then again, there is the muerto way: don't restore :)

About the money...yeah that is a lo of cash but some people buy a pinball (or a SW cockpit  ;D) for that money. Also I hope you caught the reason why Bob wanted it have restored being partly for the memory of his brother....
