And another technical question to all you experts.
Often you see people installing these 60 in 1 game cards with all the vertical oldies in a Ms Pac-Man cab or similar.
I really like the idea of being able to change the "game of the week" or something without changing pcb cards, but what I did not like in clips I saw is that on startup, one is in the game menu, and again after every play, which I don't find authentic enough.
So the question is, if you chose to show only 1 game in the initial setup, lets say "Dig Dug", will it boot up the card on Dig Dug every time you turn on the cabinet, and stay inside Dig Dug? Or will it stupidly still load the game menu and only show one game, and return to this menu only showing Dig Dug after every play?
I don't know if it was very clear. But an answer would be great.
Cheers

As far as i know , it is like you discribe, it boots to the game you set it up without showing the menu
maybe it is in the manual (http://www.jammaboards.com/arcade_manuals/60-in-1_iCade_Classic_Arcade_Manual_Online.pdf) ?
(have not read it)

Thanks Etienne, that would be good news. It would even be logical that it should work like that... Can anyone confirm what etienne says?
-
I remember that gyruss had a setup like this in a pac iirc
-
Yes it's possible and very easy to do.
-
I can check it tomorrow. ;)

Hey, is it true that the games in these multi cards are not perfectly true to the original version?
Like the colors are sometimes wrong or the sounds are not that accurate.
I'm just asking, maybe it's just an urban legend like that monitor discharging thing ::) or maybe there are different "qualities" of multis ?
-
I also had the same question as chrischris (that's hard to write man, it took me 3 tries) ;-) .
It is emulated, isn't it?
Anyway, do you confirm what etienne said the other day that you can "force boot" into one game, and keep it there, just as if you had the original one game pcb in the cab?

Some are closer than others. The sounds are pretty bad in some games like Donkey Kong.

Indeed, on some games the sounds are a too high pitched (dk) and on others its distorted (gyruss), but most play fine.
And yes, you can boot into one game. I started this hobby with one in a generic cab, and loved it, but sooner or later you want to own the real deal. ;D ;D

I own 2 of those 60 in 1 cards..
Most Games Wirkung fine. Donkey Kong works fine but Scramble sounds terrible !
Those 60 in 1 cards are a "Must have" I think but a Horror for everything real Arcade-Freak.
Buy one ! Test it !

Yeah, about 50 games from 60 is ok, but there are some real craps like Phoenix. You will run out from the room if you hear that emulated sound. :D

colors and tastes ::) . i like Phoenix very much. first boss mode in history of games. different levels. tricks. random movements !!!. even the sound is kind of okay for me. (but to be straight, ghosts & goblins has an horrible mix sound (music loud, sounds very low) , on the 19in1 icade version :( )

They don't mean the sound of the REAL Phoenix game, they mean that the sound of Phoenix on the 60in1 board is very bad sounding.
-
I think the worst thing is scramble ..
I LOVE this game .. but the sound on the 60in1 ... HORROR !!

Did you think that I would tell anything negative about the real Phoenix? :o
It is my Grail and the rest was described by André 100% perfect. ;)

problem with a 31 years old game, we can only go thru "emulation" to play them again for years :-[

Hi everyone,
I just want to say that those bootleg PCBs are working fine.
Sound maybe crappy on some games but most of the problems is only due to high volume.
You can modify the volume with menu (digital) and with a pot (analog).
The things that i dislike about the PCB is:
-You have no copyright on boot of the game, like "Nintendo 1983" for DK. But this seem obvious.
-You cannot play 2 players at the same time.. And that, is really annoying!
-Only the highest score is recorded, no top5. Also the name is not recorded too..
Hope it help. ;)

That's the known problems of those PCB's. I own two of them .. the older and the newer version ..
And both have the same problems, as you describe ...
But I like the 60in1 . It's also a "must have" to play a Game you like ...

Thanks for your thoughts on the subject. I'll definitely get one, to have access to games I otherwise wouldn't have, even though those limitations do bother me somewhat...
