Title: New Member/ 30 years of game love ;)
Post by: mikieboy70 on May 28, 2011, 01:54:50 AM
Hey Guys,
This is a great site and I wanted to introduce myself..
Mike, 41 from the UK. I've been an arcade fan since '78 and have owned a few machines over the last 20 odd years.
I had a little sideline in the mid 90s with 20 sited machines with games from that time.
Kinda left it alone for the last 10 years but got bitten again and picked up a Moon Cresta cocktail (nichibutsu) from ebay last week which i want to fix up.
Bought as a non runner but it think its just the PCB thats faulty . I've been enjoying the road trips and restorations on here and would like to upload a few pics of my machine and get some advice from you. All my dealing with coin ops was pre internet days, looking for pin outs, manuals etc was a real pain (I remember ringing Atari in Ireland and a lovely guy sending me an Asteroids manual for free ;)

My best find was 4 cocktails from an old nightclub in Ashbourne. Asteroids (9/10 condition pcb fault), Crazy Kong (scramble hardware) worked fine, The Pit & Picses (Both in small Universal cabs) both working.. cost me £100 for the lot...

Sorry for rambling i've had a long day at work

Glad to have joined - Mike

Hello Mike,

Great to see the 'Virus' is back.
I can imagine how hard repairing arcade game in the "pre internet" era would be hard  :ghost:

Welcome to this board ...and as always ... a maximum of pictures please ;) Especially the oldest ones of your collection  :P

Yes, WELCOME ! :)

Funny story about Atari sending that manual. Back in the day I called Atari Holland (totally non-arcade of course) a couple of times about home computers schematics and f.i. some Lynx buttons I needed, and they always shipped the stuff right away at no charge. They were great.

Thanks guys for the welcome,
Unfortunately the only things I have these days is the newly aquired Moon Cresta and an old Falcon Crazy Kong pcb, X-men 4 player and little test rig :(   I swapped my Crazy Kong (scramble hardware) cocktail for an Over Drive (oh why??? But a least my then 4 year old daughter liked it)

Splitting from the ex wife meant I didn't have any where to store my machines and I had to sort a new place for my 2 girls come and stay... But one fantastic g/f and 2 grown up girls later I am getting back into it.
I have to admit repairing PCBs is beyond me and I used to have a local guy sort my boards out and will be looking for someone to fix at my Moon Cresta board at some point.

I work some erratic hours on the trains but will put up my restoration project and keep on enjoying the great site.

Can I ask for any good suppliers for cocktail glass, parts to make jamma adaptors and various spares please? Of course better if I can buy stuff from people on here.

Better go now, getting carried away an I have alot of passengers to deal with (don't worry I'm not the driver ;)

Welcome here Mike!!!
Hope you'll enjoy the ride  ;)
Can't really help you with the spare parts but it happens that I'm also looking for a coktail table glass...
...so if I ever find an interesting deal in a near future, I'll be sure to let you know.
I'm from Belgium but often in UK so no problem for meeting.
