In preliminary surveys, the hungarian girl has a good chance to win the contest, here is the song, it's a cute one IMHO:

Please support her on 10th of May, as we can't vote to our own country. ;)

Catchy tune, especially like the lyrics ;D ;D ;D ;D
That's probably why she won't win, if I like I song, they don't have a chance ;)
I haven't been interested in the Eurovision song contest for years. It had become a circus in which the craziest act seemed to win. Last year someone won, and I had to dig it back up on youtube, but this time there was no act, but the girl simply couldn't sing.
I don't want to talk about the Dutch entry of last year though, it's too embarrassing !!!!
I must say, this year we have a pretty decent quality song, so probably they don't have a chance either ;)

WHAT? Probably one of the catchiest tunes EVER and you couldn't remember "our" Lena winning? Shame on you, André! I remember it as if it were yesterday: I was over in England with Charlotte to pick up tons of games from Rav's place and we watched the decision together with Charlotte's host family. How cool was that?

Anyone remember Lordi?

@Chris: Exactly what I meant. Musical no-no's....
@Ully: Catchy ? Yeah, like a fever. It doesn't go anywhere. Too much Lady Gaga (or whatever she's called) wannabe. No tune, lousy voice.
Since I was ill anyway I looked up some Youtube stuff about the 2011 songs and I see Germany sent her again ? "Never change a winning team" they thought probably ? I didn't even know that was allowed...
Anyway, the song wasn't even WRITTEN by a German !!
Seriously, you call THIS singing ??
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eeIdazghEMg
Jesus, she sounds like the cat from our neighbors at night !
Anyway, I think this old article pretty much sums it all up:

Oh, yeah, I just read that there is a "Big Four" of countries who (probably pay most) so they get to the finals automatically. Wow, very fair system indeed !
That song wouldn't have passed the semi's for sure.
By the way, her English sounds like your WoW German !!! I can't understand a WORD she sings....
It's all politics my friend, countries that "like" eachother vote for eachother, regardless of the song. That's why 5 former Eastern Europe countries won in the last 10 years.
And that's the last I'll say about it because I have better things to do ;)
-
Oh, just one more thing: I'll be the fist to admit that OUR "contribution" in 2010 was even WORSE, MUCH WORSE than Lena.....so bad that I do not put a link to a Youtube video of that crap here.
Compared to both, yes, we do have a good song this year...
-
I have stopped watching this crap after Frizzle Sizzle....
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q62k9Q6sr3o
and after looking the video you know why :D
although Gerard's contribution 2 years later was one of the best ever i think..

very 80's ;D

@Blanka: good to finally agree on something ;D
====
@Etienne: My god...I thought we'd better not post those, too shameful.....STILL better than 2010 though... which was definitely the worst of the worst.
The ONLY song that we ever sent to the contest that I actually think is a VERY GOOD song is Vrede (Peace) by Ruth Jackott. (Yes, it is even on my iPod).
Ruth is an excellent singer and she was one hot stage beast in those days (saw her perform life once).
http://youtu.be/uVfhVAzQAAw
The music is one of Van Tijn & Fluitsma best efforts, and lyrircs by Henk Westbroek are simply masterful (like most of Henk's are).
Regretfully that last part (the lyrics) of course never comes across to anywhere outside the Dutch language area. She ended 6th, but I'm very sure she would have ended higher if they were allowed to sing in other languages (=English).
I also believe that was the last contest I actually watched from beginning to end because I really thought we had a chance to win. Stupid me.
(By the way, back in those days, you weren't immediatly thought to be gay when you actually watched and liked the Eurovision contest over here......)
-
In my opinion this contest is more a carnaval than a singing contest...
Being almost forced to sing in another language than your mother tongue if you want a chance to win is lame. Every judges giving "politicaly compliant" points is another thing to add up to the joke this contest has become.

Mann, Ully, es gab ein Zeit dass die Deutsche Leute wirklich stolz auf ihre junge weibliche Sängerinnen sein konnte:

(In case the clip doesn't show in Germany, it's Nena with Irgendwie, Irgendwo, Irgendwann......

One of the best songs that nena made :spaceace:
i like the original, but also the one with Kim wilde :-*
-
Yup me too.
Man was I in love with Kim Wilde in the 80's.....most gorgeous woman ever.....then ;)
Two others I really like:
Leuchtturm: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xLzr525g9ZE
&
Nur Getraumt: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XqmaB7wV998&feature=fvwrel

Round 1 starting now. ;)

IMO This whole Eurovision Song Contest is a waste of time and money. It should be cancelled, forever.
-
The problem is that it is funded with our tax money. AFAIK it's the public broadcasting companies throughout Europe who finance it and SO it's our tax money ! I agree, a crazy circus...
-
I also agree, the commentators had to speak through their mobiles for almost an hour, because they were unable to make a reliable connection between the countries.
