I broke a color neon :? :? :?
So today, I buy two transparent tubes :

...made by EUROlite... 12€ each

I use a standart white neon, like this :

Very old topic, but I am looking for a likewise solution to get coloured light for cheap. How does the coloured light with these sleeves compare to ´real´ coloured lights?
-
They're OK, but they don't have the same look as real neon. In this case it doesn't matter much because they are placed low behind the cabs and thus produce ambient light only.
Hope you kept your kid out there and be very thorough of the cleaning Bruno, there is bad stuff inside of a fluorescent tube....like mercury.

I've used once again that solution for the V3 game room, on the ceiling.
I would say the 'colored transparent tube' looks more 'shiny' than an authentic colored tube, and the color is less 'pure' also. Your can really spot it when you take picture of those. But it's a good solution, that's why I use it for the V3, except for the 'black light' where there's no substitution possible...

Thanks, sounds more then good enough. :)
I found a source in Holland where the sleeves (hard 'polycarbonate' plastic) are € 5 each, I guess I will go for that.

Uh, why not get the colored tubes instead ? About the same price as just the sleeves....and with those you still need the white tubes......

thanks for the hint, I didn't check that website further because I was looking for sleeves. Might just go for the real thing. Although, there is a risk of transport damage of course.

Well, that's the advantage of living in less rural areas, I could be at Hornbach within 10 Minutes and buy them off the shelf ;)
But I'm sure they can ship it without them get broken.....it's probably not the first tubes they ship...

Real neon would be nice, but it would be expensive and made to fit, as it has to be attached to the walls.. and need a place to hide the ugly transformers.
Nothing can beat that awesome glow of neon! I love the bright colors in clear glass rather than frosted neon.
