Until today I did not know how beautiful this game is made (the image I saw on handheldmuseum gives nothing more than the slightest hint of its beauty). It is absolutely the most stunning piece of plastic. Very nice Japanese craftsmanship. You never see these games in Europe, until I bumped into one on Marktplaats, only needing a 10 minute ROADTRIP. A little bit spoof-bidding from friends of the seller I guess (still going for a lot less than most crap condition Nintendo Tabletops), but the thing has an exceptional condition, so I'm very happy anyway.
I'm talking about the Rosy Astro Vader.

The screen has a mirror. With the mirror an overlay like the one in Space Invaders is applied to the VFD invader graphics (first I thought the plastic cover had dirt underneath, until I put the game in front of a window :) ).

Here you see the unit from the back with light getting through the front. Awesome background graphics!
The side looks very nice, with the curved verticals. Very architectural.

Wow... wonderful :-* I remember having see something similar long long time ago, I mean I recognize the shape, but of course can't tell what it was exactly  :-X
Yesp please, same as a new cabinet  Roadtrip pictures  WIP  video of the stuff running ::) ;)
:spaceace:

WIP was not needed.
Roadtrip is just the average grey card you calibrate your camera on. Grey-grey-grey! I updated with pics of the thing though.

LOL, I see that the reflection on the screen in the first pic from the inside of my seventies lamp with the blueish ceiling looks like the background image in the game of the night blue sky with the planet in the corner.

Outstanding holy piece of art, congratulations.
Blanka do you have a webpage where we could see all your collection?
-
Awesome shape :-* :-*
Congrats :spaceace:

never seen that before (but that's because i'm no expert in handhelds), looks promising. can't wait to see a video of that thing in action!

+1 !

Wow that looks really cool. I have never seen such a thing before. I agree with Ully, I would love to see that thing in action :)

One is for sale right now on ebay Belgium, see here (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180572538047), but the top cover is missing (and also 2 screws). On the seller picture, there's no overlay on the picture when the game is on ???. Do you think it's because of the missing top cover plate?
-
Yes, that part contains the background image. How on earth do you get THAT part missing? You need to remove the front part first. And btw, it even has the battery cover.... Totally weird.
-
I think a mirror is missing too. You look directly on the VFD display now.
-
Ok thanks, so I'll skip this one... and wait another one 4 sale ...complete! ;)

:P i saw only one years ago in charityshop, the price wasn't pleasant. and later it came to dump under the water ... i couldnt figure it was so cool from the background , i tend to regret now !
