F1......isn't that where they finish in the same order as they start unless they get mechanical troubles ?

I prefer rally. Just my taste :D

I was a huge F1 fan until the middle of the 90's... My hero was Ayrton Senna, period McLaren/Honda, the best pilot ever  :'(
No more 'addiction' after that period... Just watch occasionally the start of a race, but never more 'till the end  :-\
But if I have the opportunity to spend an after noon on a race track, I would be OK, because nothing can beat the 'live race atmosphere' and it's always nice too see such monsters for real  :P
Nice pictures ... Hey? ... It's me on this formula one

F1......isn't that where they finish in the same order as they start unless they get mechanical troubles ?

;D ;D ;D that's hilarious - and so true!

the formula 1 gets worse and worse every single year: they take away the different tire manufacturers, the teams are told which tires they have to use during the race, you are not allowed to refuel anymore ... the list goes on and on and on. this doesn't have to do with racing anymore, this is who's best during the qualifying and whose car doesn't break down during the race.

the only thing still exciting about the formula 1 is the start (always the chance of an accident) and if it starts to rain during the race - the rest is extremely boring to watch (which i seldom do these days). why not give every single person the same model of a car and see who's the best of the best? i'll tell you why: because it's not about racing anymore, it's just about money (but isn't it always?). the formula 1 is the best example of how too many regulations and too much money can destroy a once legendary sport! sad to see it go down like this :'(

You are absolutely right, there were only a few people out there, no big rows in restaurants, offical merchandise shops empty, etc.. :'(
I was a huge F1 fan, but if you imagine that I had a chance to get free 2 VIP Super Gold tickets for the race and I rejected it, you realize what are my feelings about this sport....

Wow that is indeed a serious turn down I'm sure.....

Well some regulations were actually good (like forbidding the programmed automatic shifting, I mean, the next step would have been "recording" the turns of the wheels, the gas and break movement and the pilot could have been eliminated and we would have seen robot races. Not that it makes much difference.

I know a lot of people who are crazy about F1, but I never got it. Compare it to rally racing. That is some REAL driving skills going on !

The only more boring racing than F1 is Nascar or Indy......pffffffff running around circles for hours YAWN !

me i was an huge nigel mansell fan :) i was even waking up at 3 am for the japanese gp. but since mansell quitted & senna passed away. i totally stopped watching was too boring.

Got good memories of mansell winning the hungarian gp with his ferrari. At that time i was on vacation in italy with my grandparents, all the tifosis were shouting and honking in the streets like they winned the fifa world cup :)

for bruno ;)

My best F1 memories are the fights between Senna & Alain Prost  :-*

Regarding Nigel, did you remember this game?

Back in the days, I never had ... a Megadrive, but I borrowed one from a buddy, for playing only two games : Sonic and ...

aaaaaah super monaco gp my "holy grail" cab :p i played a lot on arcade in liège yearly fair.

actualy i bought my megadrive only for the super monaco gp arcade port (only descent one, computers ports when done by us gold :s) & off course i jumped on the sequel Ayrton senna's smgp.

I even needed to borrow money to my dad to buy the megadrive "i'll reimburse you when i'll be working in summer" (we were in february) :))

being a fan of mansell , i never liked the game he sponsored. but i still play super monaco gp megadrive :p About this ZX game, i never tried it , i got a c64 at that time :)

The best, and I mean the ultimate best racing game I played on any home machine was Vroom on the Atari ST.

The sense of speed, of fluid motion of the track, the angle of view, the feel of the controls (one of the very rare racing games to work GREAT wit just a joystick), everything was perfect.

It was inspired on.....you guessed it, Pole Position, you will even find back the Fujiyama track and the Zeppelin flying around :D
