sure there are ;D

GERMANY

except the great game that germany played this evening, the championships so far have been pretty disappointing. most of the matches were extremely boring, but the worst of all so far has been this

i've never heard anything more annoying than those vuvuzelas! they are ruining the whole event - they really are!!!

I agree with you. That is, on those stupid horns that sound like a horny elephant.....It's driving me nuts. Someone suggested looking though Belgian TV and indeed they seem to have turned down the higher frequencies of the ambient sound and it's more bearable ....
It should be easy enough to filter this shit out, I mean it is only one frequency that is produced....

Good game from the Germans, or should we say an extremely weak game from the Aussies ? Of course they have one of the worst Dutch coaches in the history of football. This guy Pim Verbeek also completely ruined Feyenoord (my favorite team) at one period in time. Were we glad when he left....

Well, we will know how strong Germany really is when they have to play against some real resistance :P

Well, of course i´m going to see (http://t1.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:TO2dWFHOMQSwfM:http://www.destination360.com/north-america/us/michigan/images/s/holland.jpg) vs. (http://t3.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:acjzb2eTLwrTPM:http://www.rejseanmeldelser.dk/Den%2520lille%2520Havfrue.jpg) tonight, but giving the state the danish team, let alone the danish coach!! (why bring a striker who haven´t scored in two years!!!???) (http://t1.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:eNPtXEdw7JY_aM:http://multimedia.jp.dk/archive/00197/jon_dahl_ubesk_ret_197424d.jpg) unfortunately i think Holland is going to kick our behind!  :-[ :-\

You still should support your team, and you never know what happens :)

And I'm actually a big fan of Tomasson since he's one of the best strikers Feyenoord ever had. And he scored 11 goals last season for my team. Not his best score, but the team isn't like what it was in his first Feyenoord period (around the years 2000).

And I will never forget he scored the third and winning goal in the 2002 Uefa cup final against Dortmund !!!

But indeed against Kuijt, Robben, Sneijder, Huntelaar, van der Vaart and above all Van Persie (the player that Feyenoord sold too early and too cheap, as so often !) the Danish defenders will have some serious work to do. However, our weak point (as ever) is our defense.

So let's hope the midfield and defense will be on the ball all the time :) My favorite player is Van Persie. The way he moves on the field is art !

I am also a great World Cup fan and I have seen almost all the matches till this point.
Quit dissapointing matches I have seen although Germany was pretty good yesterday evening. And Australia played just horrible. That Pim Verbeek is one terrible coach. He is just everywhere in the slipstream of the succesful Guus Hiddink.

I had high expactations of England, but they played in a really weird squad formation and had a dissapointing draw

So today it's the Netherlands, hope they can score some goals like Germany did

Title: Re: World Cup 2010
Post by: level42 on June 14, 2010, 07:51:33 PM
Well let's say it was a "controlled" victory for the Dutch. The Danish may have very well demolished our usual style of play (remember that Morten Olsen knows Dutch football VERY well) BUT the Danish put ZERO attack force against us. OK the first goal was a bit lucky but that can happen when you are actually trying to attack a bit....

Bottom line, 2 years ago we stormed Italy and France, but I rather see this "reasonable" kind of victory in the first stages of the tournament.
The storming can come when we reach the quarter finals.....

And of course, very stupid of the Danish to keep Tomasson on the bench (although, what could he have done without being "served" by the rest of the team ?)

Anyway not a great match, but Japan-Cameroon was REALLY terrible apart from the goal by Honda (very cool, I guess most strikers would have tried to hit it right away and probably would have missed). I think both teams can be beaten by the Danish.....;)

And once again a STUPID referee falls for his tricks.

In Holland where he plays for 020, all the referees know his poor acting.....but internationally he still gets away with it. I hope he will run into a referee who gives HIM a red card !

No, the Germans did it themselves. They made way too much faults in the first half and they missed a penalty.  :o

But it was a nice game to watch, both teams started pretty good, then there was the misfortune for Germany, although deserved, and right after that the great attack and goal for the Serbs. Nice one.

After the goal everything became a bit messy. The Serbs stopped playing football, but there still were good chances and some near misses on both sides. The last 25 minutes the Serbs were terrible, not one pass was spot on and they lost a lot of duels. They had some good opportunities to score another goal but they just couldn't do anything right. And the Germans did there best to equal the score. It stayed excited until the end.

But the Germans are known for there fighting spirit, and they are great tournament players, so nothing is lost yet.

i agree, we will beat ghana on wednesday 8)! and of course it's our fault that we missed that penalty - badly kicked. i was just p***ed because of that flood of yellow cards for a normal foul.

Yes funny, they looked a bit like the Dutch play style in the first match, and now they even start copying our style penalties on World- and European Championships..... :D

I didn't see the match so can't comment on it. But I agree with Erik, the Germans will get far no-matter what. They always get far.

Who was it who said: Football is a match you play for 2x45 minutes, and in the end the Germans win..... :D

that was Gary Lineker

and yes, Ghana is not that good, so they'll win
the good news is, that there have been some upsets/surprises the last games. Argentina made 4 goals, the Serbs won from Germany, America's draw 2-2. It seems like the tournament is getting more interesting

And a very surprising 0-0 Algeria-England.......

All the big teams have either lost or played draws now except Holland, Argentina and Brazil. Let's hope we keep it that way tomorrow when we will battle the country of Namco, Sega, Taito and Konami ! :)

The French team are a disgrace indeed ! Esp. the trainer. Letting Henry out of the dug-out for 20 minutes before the end of the game and the forgetting about him....and not a single emotion when they got behind, what an asshole....

It's incredible what's happen with the French team   A real shame...!!!  :-X I'm curious to see what will happen with them on the next match...

Indeed, that the teams refuses to do a training, OK, but that the coach is stupid enough to let himself be used to read up a declaration that is written by the PLAYERS is simply incredible. This plus the argue with a player and the co-trainer on the field.....amazing

But not only the French team is poor, also the French referee that did Brazil-Ivory Coast today was very weak. TWO hand-fouls before the 2nd goal for Brazil, a real shame !! And then saying to the player (as if to seek confirmation) he says it was on his sides not his arms......jeez.

Also he allowed WAY too many fouls, he should have sent off some players earlier, now everything escalated......

I must say Brazil looks like the best team so far....

Mmmm, the Germans weren't as good as the first game(s).....

I bet they beat the British though, sorry UK friends. As said before....the game lasts 2x45 mins and in the end......

In the mean time, arriverderci Azurri.......Sorry Bruno !

France
Italy

Both teams we beat with large figures 2 years ago. The signs were clear already then IMHO.....

I must say the Italians played amazingly weak, especially their strong point (defense) was amazingly poor..... Only when they got 0-2 behind they actually started to play, I mean, why not play from the moment the referee starts the match ?

Now, let's hope the Dutch will do that tonight, even though it doesn't matter anymore, it's time for some beautiful football !

Oh, and I forgot: congrats to our American friends !!! You guys definitely deserved to go on !

Now that was a match....Germany-England....

Sorry for all my English friends though....

I see it this way: modern vs. old-fashioned football. Germany played really well, although the English did have a very good period too, but it was clear who was the best team. The clear goal that didn't get allowed by the referee (is he blind ?) wouldn't have changed it I think...

The German team are more impressive then ever, very good playing, Gee, they have 5 players of Bayer Munchen in the team and......who is the coach there again ?????  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

BUT there is also a risk in their playing..................we'll see what happens next, I guess they will have to play against Argentina....

but as andré has already stated: i think we would have won no matter what. this must have been one of the best - if not THE best - games from the germans i've ever seen!

GO GERMANY  :spaceace: :spaceace: :spaceace:

More than ever, after the 2 refereree's errors (even if I don't think it wouldn't have changed the victory of Germany nor Argentina)
FIFA will be oblidged to introduce the help of video in such cases, just like it's done in rugby.

I don't think International Rugby Federation regrets in any way their choice of video support.
First argument is that with huge screens in stadium, the crowd can almost judge with a better sight.
So the public can judge using these screens but the referees could not ?
Even if they see in replays that their decision is wrong ?

by the way, ich soll deutchland gratulieren : you deserve victory.

i totally agree: wrong decisions by referees have influenced a lot of games in a crucial way during the tournament - something has to be done!

I loved every minute of the England - Germany match. And I have to say that I'm impressed by the way the German team played. They have a lot of speed and their attacks which led to some beautiful goals were well performed. The Dutch team will have a tough job beating them in the finals.

But the referee team was a disaster (as with Argentina - Mexico). The match would have gone in a totally other direction if the score would have been 2-2. It's a real shame and intolerable. That old fool Blatter and his ancient companions have to go.

Believe me, the best is yet to come ! :D

Friday will be Holland-Brazil.....I think....time for revenge !!

or "fopduik". translated: fake dive

anyway, I am not that impressed by the gameplay of the Dutch, but as we are in the 'German' role right now as everyone says, If we reach the semifinals, we have the typical German route to the finals, which means the easy one. Either Uruguay or Ghana and not Spain/Argentina or Germany or Portugal for that matter.

But I am not so sure about friday...

I loved it......first the 0-1 behind....stupid defense mistake, but in the 2nd half.....there was a new Holland.... I don't think I've ever lived a match SO intensely, or maybe the match against Germany in 1988......

It was an exciting match, but not with very great football. The first half was boring with an huge error in the Dutch defense. Fortunately we decided right from the start of the second half that putting pressure on the Brasilan defense was the way to success. And we won.

The red cart was obvious, but Ooyer also deserved one, kicking a player with no ball in sight. Fortunately he only got yellow.

One thing concerns me a lot. We could have made at least two more goals in the final 10 minutes, but we lost our agressivity and sharpness, as always when we think that we are going to win. We can't have this behaviour against the Germans in the finals.

But in the end only the victory counts. We are in the semi-finals!!

In that case: Congrats Ully, and as I predicted, we are on the road for the finaly: The Netherlands-Germany.

Shame that the victories will end there for you, but still a very good tournament played.

You see it is like this:

The Dutch play like the German used to.
The German play like the Dutch used to.

The German became world champion three times.

THUS this time WE will (FINALLY) be the Masters of the World !  ;D ;D

Exactly, that's why we will win. The Dutch team played the nicest football on the WC of '74 and '78, but we lost both times in the finals. This year the Germans play the nicest football and that's why they will loose the finals.  ;D

It's a shame, but it will happen.

There is one category of Dutch people who don't want Holland to win: the houseboat owners in the Amsterdam canals.

Well in that case I would have missed the most challenging job so far: Endemol studios and offices. By far the most complex installation we've done so far, and somehow it's good to know they asked me to do it :P

Today I was at a Hotel that was  being totally reconstructed on the inside. Since it was on the canals there was very little space (only 1 container for "the boss", so the people who had to eat had to go in a kitchen that they rented on the canal boat right across the building. Pretty funny, probably the weirdest place to work for me so far (was programming the system). The guy living on the boat actually still walked around...well I guess he made some easy bucks this way :)

Not so boring, one beautiful goal from Van Bronckhorst, then a louzy period from the 32 - 43 minute with a goal from Uruguay. I saw it coming, we let control the Uruguayan team the play during this short period. It's now 1-1 and halftime and I hope that we get a grip on the match again in the second half.

Edit: we did it, we did beat Uruguay with 3-2, and the last few minutes were pretty excited. Overall we didn't win with great football, but we played pretty solid.

Germany, here we come.

105 International matches, I take of my hat for Gio !!!

And to know that his last match EVER will be the World Cup  final !!! Van Bronkhorst grew up with a club that my brother sill plays for, and the last years, he gave his best for my team, Feyenoord, and now, this MAGNIFICANT, BRILLIANT GOAL !!!! I love it, and he deservers it !!!

Now, dear god please let US become World Champions for once in my lifetime....we deserve it !

that was one exciting match. Last 4 minutes were so tense. And that stupid referee who made 5 minutes extra time in stead of 3.
BUT WE WON!

I would have never thought that Holland would reach the finals, a couple of months ago. If they finish second, I am still quite proud. What a great achievment!

and Bouhlarouz was so bad (just like Van der Vaart). Luckily De Jong and Van der Wiel return in the final. Sneijder saved us once again. He is a real worldclass player now. Reaching the WorldCupFinals. EPIC

We always watch with a group of friends mainly from my marching band. We have a big screen with a beamer and this year I bought a cheap DVB-T USB receiver for my laptop that works just great to watch the matches :)

In the beginning we switched back-yards and put up a large tent, but now (because the group grows by the match) we watch in our clubhouse with an ever bigger screen.....and the bar with lots of cool beer :)

However, tonight will be very special, I will be watching with a friend who is half Dutch half Spanish and she invited me for the match plus some great Spanish food. Her dad will be there too and I hear he's even more fanatical than I am. This is going to be great fun hearing either some serious Spanish cursing OR cheering :) !

Sorry but LOL !  ;D ;D ;D

Still, I would have preferred the Germans too...

It was great fun to watch it with some people that are actually whole-heartedly for one of the teams....however, the game was pretty boring.

But guys, have I been watching a different match than you and some other commentators (Van der Gijp f.i.) ??

What I saw was that Spain TRIED to play but _constantly_ failed in the end face (the attack). I'm not saying they don't have individual qualities, but it barely showed. Still, the Germans didn't have a single chance tonight, which says a lot, but I just _KNOW_ that we are going to win....

We've got more individual quality that can win a game like this.

And so, I'm going to take off my red shirt (sorry I had to blend in ;) ) ! :)
Title: Re: World Cup 2010
Post by: Ronald Reagan on July 08, 2010, 09:14:45 AM
their midfielders just failed. Alonso shots went wide like 3 times. Xavi and Iniesta aren't goalscorers at all. They are used to supply for Eto'o or Messi or Villa but they play positionally and tactically so strong. It amazes me every time I see it. Especially Iniesta is so calm on the field

Indeed we have more quality in the attack but their midfield is just awesome. And they have one the best goalkeepers in the world.
I think Spain's weak point is their defense, right and left wing back and Puyol can have a bad day once in a while.

this year I bought a cheap DVB-T USB receiver for my laptop that works just great to watch the matches :)

One big problem with digital TV, and especially DVB-T is the grass they play on. If the camera's steady, the image is perfect, but when moving MPEG messes up very very BAD. Analog was way better for football.
There is a benefit though. It seems the African fields are SO BAD if you look very very close, but thanks to MPEG you can hardly see the holes in the fields.
Title: Re: World Cup 2010
Post by: level42 on July 08, 2010, 06:19:15 PM
Well previously we had to work with a VCR as a receiver and a VERY weak antenna singal. We have no cable on the club...
So the picture was VERY snowy during previous world and euro-cups.....

That's the reason why I bought the DVB-T stick.  We're not crying over seeing the individual grass polls.....

But you're right, at home I have digital cable and it looks MUCH better than DVB-T. I'd never want that at home. But in this situation, it is ideal.

So.....in the mean time the whole world labels Spain as the favorit, including a lot of "experts" over here in Holland. Those are the same "experts" that said that we didn't have a chance against Brazil. I really like this, the more the Spanish think they're unbeatable, the better....we will see next sunday !

So, I'm getting ready to dress up the car a bit for a tour through Germany !  ;D ;D ;D

Too bad, but Spain was by far the better team. And we made a lot of very stupid faults, with yellow cards and one red card as a result.  :'(

Congratulations to Spain, you were the better of us.

Congrats to Spain, though Holland did not get the corner at the end, which lead to the Spanish Goal.....  :-[

i'm sorry to see you guys lose, i really am, but spain was the better team of the two - not only in this game but for the entire duration of the championships. PLUS those fouls of van bommel and especially de jong in the first half would have deserved a red card right away - what a karate kick ! unfortunately, robben didn't use the two great chances he had and if you don't use your chances, the other team will. in the end, to me spain is worthy of winning the world cup 2010 because they beat the team which definitely played the best football: GERMANY :-*

I would like to congratulate the UK for having the WORST referee in the world, I've NEVER seen a jerk like that......

Normally UK referee's are for manly- football, but this guy was whistling EVERY time a Spanish guy was laying down and crying like a baby.

Also, right before the goal there was a clear offside situation not seen by the line's man.

Once again, we got screwed.....

Spain was not a better team, I think both were equal , but once again, the referee's put their mark on the game.

We have been robbed a World Titel!

Howard Webb is a #$%!# (can even find a proper English term for the little fucker). Im not mad that Spain won, not at all. But this was a unfair fight, with the ref as the 12 man on there team. The goal wasnt even legit, its was offside when they first took the shot (second time not) and the goal came from a corner that WE should had had!! Howard Webb, will never set on Dutch soil without his head been ripped off!

Its not the players fault, its Webbs fault that we lost!

a zero-zero draw was the perfect ending of what was in my opinion a pretty dissapointing World Cup tournament. What a horrible match that was.

too bad we didnt make it to the penalty shootout. But that is also not the way to become WorldCupWinners.
and in the end, a second place for this team is a really good achievment

About the referee, I think he was overconscious of the fact that he was leading a World Cup Final. He left his mark on this game way too much

i agree: totally disappointing world cup with a pretty bad finale - the only thing exciting about it was the question "who's going to receive the first red card?". nevertheless, i think we do have a deserving winner! don't you think it's too easy to put all the blame on the referee? YES, the dutch team should have received a corner right before the goal, but NO, the goal was not a result of that bad decision. and i don't think that the referee was biased: just have a look at that DE JONG foul again, to me this was one of the most brutal fouls in soccer history. although i would have loved the dutch team to win the world cup over spain (because they kicked us out :'(), i can't agree with the way they're playing soccer at the moment (and this goes for a lot of teams like brazil or argentina as well)!

i know you're hurt and i don't want to add any more fuel to the flames, but that's just my opinion. it has been great following the world cup 2010 with you guys - see you in 2012 when germany is definitely going to strike back!

I totally agree with Ully, the Spanish team deserved to win, they played by far the best football of the WC.

And although the Dutch team achieve good results with this type of football play, I don't like to watch it at all, and I also don't like the way some players, like De Jong and Van Bommel, conduct in the field. We were lucky that we didn't get a red card for both of them much earlier in the finals. And sure, the referee was not at his best yesterday, but he didn't make the Dutch team lose, we did it ourselves.
